...Gresham Hotel Oh my goodness me! I really hate to slate anything or anybody but this really was the worst place I have stayed in for a long time. I am going to start with the positives and work my way down. This is a review about the hotel itself, rather than a tourist?s guide as I originally a Londoner (now relocated) who likes to use hotels when visiting family and friends. I don?t really do a lot of the tourist thing when I go to London. Just a little about my own travel experience. I am used to basic accommodation; I have stayed in the Regent Palace notoriously basic, alas no longer with us! I also am used to basic self catering holidays; I expect cleanliness, politeness, security and the basic of basics?toilet paper, a toilet seat, a light? HOLIDAY INN BLOOMSBURY LONDON STAY

...fruits including oranges , grapefruits, melon, pineapple, mango, apple/pear compote, berry compote, yoghurt, bacon, sausages, baked beans, black pudding, hash browns, mushrooms, eggs scrambled or fried and tomatoes. All very very nice and hot drinks served at the table and topped up for you. Fruit juices were self serve. The restaurant was spacious, modern and comfortable. There was car parking below at I believe about £17 per day which we didn't use as we arrived by train. There was a Fitness first Gym that was free 8-12 noon outside the front of the hotel and down stairs or lift. Room service 24 hours. Hotel mostly air- conditioned (our room was but we had the window open instead). We really enjoyed our stay at this well positioned hotel which was clean, friendly and welcoming. Holiday Inn Bloomsbury - London

Advantages: Cheap, great decor, friendly staff, breakfast

...My partner and I, along with a small group of friends decided to book a weekend away in London through a local coach company and were placed at The Holiday Inn – Bloomsbury for our two night stay. We paid £105 for two nights including our coach travel to and from London. When we arrived we were impressed by the exterior and found the hotel lobby / reception area to be light, airy, contemporary and inviting. Check in was swift considering they had a couple of coach loads to attend to and the staff were very polite and friendly. We were then given a key (well a card) and room numbers and went to our rooms to get settled in. We were all quite excited albeit a bit hot and bothered as the journey had been quite a long one (we were travelling from East Yorkshire). When we got to our room we put the card into the slot...

Ambassadorial Elegance

Advantages: Refurbished rooms are clean, modern and comfortable - at good rates online
Disadvantages: Food isn't fantastic

...I don't seem to stay in London so much these days. It's partly because for meetings and such like, most people are now reluctant to travel to the capital for one reason or another. When I do have such a trip, I like to try different hotels from the usual Holiday Inns, Thistles and Novotels. Variety is the spice and all that. There are some good deals to be had out there, particularly at weekends. For a Monday meeting, train fare and hotel on the Sunday work out far cheaper than peak travel on the Monday morning and you get to try out a shiny new hotel. Winner! Getting There Ambassador's at Bloomsbury is located on Upper Woburn Place smack opposite London Euston railway station. It is literally just two or three minutes walk from the station. As such, with King's Cross and St Pancras not much further along, it is extremely well...

NOISEY LONDON

Advantages: Good service, good rate
Disadvantages: noisey front rooms

...There we were strolling passed a travel agents in our local town, when our usual nosiness got he better of us and we soon found ourselves peering at the window checking for any give away bargains ? yeah right! Anyhow this particular day we saw an advert for central hotel in London for just £33.00 a night for bed and breakfast. We decided to check it out, and we were told that it was the Bonnington hotel in Bloomsbury ? London, a place we had stayed for one night on a previous occasion with friends. We hastily booked our bargain as the offer only lasted during the month of August. Arriving at Kings Cross station we stepped into our taxi and were shocked ? or should that be horrified to see that as we actually approached the entrance of the station we had just left the clock was already telling me I owed £5.00 bar a few pence...

Fantastic hotel, shame about its surroundings

...The Holiday Inn Kings Cross/Bloomsbury is a beatifully presented and welcoming hotel. The decor is clean, modern and, to a degree, much more opulent in design than other holiday inns where I have stayed. The room itself was large with a king size bed and a very nice seating area (which I presume will change to a sleeping area if required. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and about average size for a hotel of its class. The view from the window is disappointing: a narrow street with industrial style buildings surrounding. Close the curtains though and you could be anywhere in the world. The staff at the hotel are extremely welcoming and accommodating. They were very helpful and could not do enough for you. Okay, but maybe a bit overrated

Advantages: Central, popular, affordable
Disadvantages: Long queues, crowded, noisy

...'re long. They can be VERY long. (I am talking about the Bloomsbury location, I don't know about the others.) But you wait and wait. And finally after 30, 40 minutes or more you get a seat - and what a seat: communal cafeteria-style wooden benches and tables. The room is buzzing (very loudly) with the conversations of the hordes of people around you. So you peruse the menu, pick what you want, order from the space-age waiters, and it's there in front of you almost immediately! It's quick service, they don't really want you waiting around. When you're done (or even if you're not) they whisk away your dishes, you pay, and it's over. The food itself is okay - they're big on their noodle soups, but I have had much better ones elsewhere, and I feel they're a bit stingy in their use of ingredients; for example, in their vegetarian soup they give...
