Review of Lush Blue Skies and White Fluffy Clouds Bubble Bath Bar

No Blues Here

...The Blue Bar was the first night spot to open up in Liverpool's trendy Albert Dock. The décor inside is a mixture of exposed brickwork arches that are the legacy of the Albert Dock and beech, glass and stainless steel which form the backbone of any trendy interior. The rear half of the bar looks out through a glass façade onto the Albert Dock itself and offers an impressive vista for a civilised drink. For those pleasant summer evenings there is also some limited seating available outside. Upstairs is the Blue Bar and Grill restaurant which I have reviewed elsewhere but should be paid a visit to. There's an interesting touch as far as the toilets are concerned. Although the toilets are separate, the washroom is unisex. A few friends and I had decided to hire a van and take a tour of the national park, as we had been recommended it by several people we had met along the way. ...The Blue Bar is a London institution that really is worthy of the acclaim it regularly receives. Within the impressive Berkeley Hotel and situated in the best part of Knightsbridge, the location is convenient for after work drinks or even for a late evening post-theatre/dinner stop-off on the way home. Designed by David Collins (the man behind the design of top bars and restaurants including The Wolseley), the style is akin to something one would imagine to be found on 1930s ocean-liner and the crocodile skin floor and stylish (yet somewhat uncomfortable) furniture do make for a special atmosphere. The Mighty Mars Bar

Advantages: Classic chocolate bar
Disadvantages: They changed the nougat filling

...This is perhaps the most classic chocolate bar from my childhood. It has long been my favourite as a kid and I sort of have to say it still is so as not to feel as if I have disowned it (sorry Mars Bar but I have found other favourites - I still love you though!). 'A Mars a day helps you work rest and play' - this was the little catchphrase that was associated with Mars Bar. Funny really; it's like saying a chocolate bar a day is good for you. The slogan has now changed to 'Pleasure you can't measure' which definitely seems more appropriate. A standard Mars bar comes at 58g, about 11cm long and 1.8cm high. You'll pay about 32p for this bar in supermarkets which is well below the norm of 50p. The restaurant itself is set above the Blue Bar, which is one of Liverpool's trendiest pubs regularly frequented by stars from Brookside, Hollyoaks and Liverpool Football Club. THE BLUE OYSTER BAR

Advantages: Tackleberry on the rifle range
Disadvantages: Sequels 4-6

...the Blue Oyster Bar which is always key in a scene in almost every one of the Police Academy films. The acting for a comedy series is surprisingly good. Bubba Smith in particular manages to surprise. He plays Hightower, a florist who's generally a nice guy unless you push the wrong button. One nice little scene is where Mahoney helps Hightower learn to drive. It's funny but also kind of heartwarming in its own little way. Michael Winslow also uses his sole talent(he can do some amazing things with his voice) to use as he plays the wisecracking voice-throwing Larvel Jones. Steve Guttenberg manages to make us like him despite the troubled past his character has. Gaines and Harris of course are quite good as the commadant and chief captain at the academy. Feeling Blue

Advantages: Beautifully made, very emotional

...I have to admit I am a lover of French films, but also a lover of films that concentrate on people, relationships and feelings rather than action and excitement. Three Colours Blue fits the bill for me perfectly. The first part of a trilogy - the second being Three Colours White and the third Three Colours Red - it is French but is directed by Krysztof Kieslowski of Poland. I watched all three films several years ago but Blue was the one that appealed most to me, so I eventually decided to buy the DVD. As the event happens at the outset of the film, I am not giving anything away by telling you that Julie's husband and only child, a daughter, are both killed in a car accident.
