The Hill is Alive with the Sound of Sirens

...In an age when almost every TV series ever made is released on DVD the moment it finishes its run on mainstream television, it seems remarkable that it took twenty five years for the classic American police drama series Hill Street Blues to be afforded the same treatment, as least as far as the UK market is concerned. The show was first aired back in 1981, and amidst the deluge of police and crime series which have followed in its wake, it would be all too easy to dismiss the programme as just another American cop show, full of the usual car-chases, shoot-outs and general law and disorder. Hill Street Blues was much more than that, however, and it's probably fair to say to say that many of the excellent drama series produced during the intervening years owe their success, and possibly their very existence to the show's courageously...

...The Hills is my guilty little pleasure. There's backstabbing, friendships, boyfriends, clubbing, making up, breaking up, in fact this programme has everything! The Hills is actually a spin-off television series from the very popular show, Laguna Beach. This show followed a bunch of high school students through their life in Laguna Beach, California, a very affluent, beautiful area right on the coast of Southern California. One of the main characters was Lauren Conrad, often referred to as LC. She, in my opinion is quite a pretty, nice mannered girl, if somewhat spoilt. She has the clothes, looks, long blond hair and drives a very nice convertible car. I do like her and I think she is quite entertaining. She often seems to have a rough ride where some of her friends are concerned but that is life, and more importantly that is life...

A few friends and I had decided to hire a van and take a tour of the national park, as we had been recommended it by several people we had met along the way. Love in Notting Hill

...Have you ever sat at work daydreaming that one day Brad Pitt (feel free to delete/add name as appropriate) would walk in , see you an instantly fall in love and that you would marry and live happily ever after? Well that's exactly what happened to Hugh Grant or should I say, William Thacker in this movie Notting Hill. William is a book store owner in a cute little part of Notting Hill. Not many people visit his store so when Julie Roberts wanders in one day he thinks all his Christmases have come at once. If you are unfamiliar with the sort of products Lush sell then I would advise having a look online as they sell solid and liquid shampoos, bath bombs, bubble bars, etc. Some of the Lush products however aren't available to buy in store; you have to buy these particular products online from the Lush website. The products which are solely only sold online at Lush are called Lush retro products and there are quite a few of them to choose from, some of my most favourite Lush products are from the Retro range Lush Ice Blue a soap which is a bright ice blue colour with flecks of bright white around the edges of it; I think that the colour of the soap is really vibrant and bright. Feeling Blue

Advantages: Beautifully made, very emotional
Disadvantages: Not for those looking for action

...I have to admit I am a lover of French films, but also a lover of films that concentrate on people, relationships and feelings rather than action and excitement. Three Colours Blue fits the bill for me perfectly. The first part of a trilogy - the second being Three Colours White and the third Three Colours Red - it is French but is directed by Krysztof Kieslowski of Poland. I watched all three films several years ago but Blue was the one that appealed most to me, so I eventually decided to buy the DVD. As the event happens at the outset of the film, I am not giving anything away by telling you that Julie's husband and only child, a daughter, are both killed in a car accident. Julie (Juliette Binoche) was in the car too but survives, and during the initial episode of the film we see her in hospital. She has to watch the funeral...

Light Blue

Advantages: long lasting, light frangrance
Disadvantages: can't live without it

...the case of D&G Light Blue - you spray it first thing in the morning* -And the smell of the chocolate itself makes your mouth water....then you put all the ingredients together...the aromas of the vanilla being released etc... *you put your coat on and leave the house* -then you put it in the oven and everytime you go in to the kitchen it smells Divine!!!! as it's baking *wearing it at work/uni - taking off your coat and people saying "Oh you smell great!" -then you bring it out of the oven and it smells DELICIOUS, obviously you eat some (I'm not advising you to eat this perfume may I add) *the day continues with compliments, the smell is at it's peak as it's had a good few hours to settle on your skin* -and that evening you go into the kitchen and you see the amazing cakes left over and they smell so yummy, you are very satisfied...
