...The Blue Lagoon in Iceland is an experience that cannot really be described without being there first hand, but I will try no less to tell you about this lovely place. Location / Getting There ------------------------------ The Lagoon is based in the middle of nowhere in Iceland; it is about a 35-40 minute drive from Reykjavik via road, and is a short detour past Keflavik airport. The only way to the Lagoon is via road as I stated, there are regular departures from Reykjavik Excursions BSI bus terminal daily or there are other excursions from different tour operators. The actual Lagoon is literally in the middle of nowhere in the depths of the beautiful Icelandic landscape. The blue lagoon

Advantages: very relaxing, could spend all day in it

...I love Iceland and what better a way to start a trip the land of fire ice than a trip to the blue lagoon. Its beautiful warm blue waters in the open air of Iceland, theres nothing quite so refreshing. Last September we arrived in Iceland in the snow and then got told that our first trip would be to an outside swimming pool, doesn't sound so great so far but believe me it is fantastic. The blue lagoon is a lake created by the waste water from a geothermal power plant, doesn't sound very clean, but its actually a perfectly renewable and clean form of energy. The blue colour is perfectly natural, i believe it is something to do with algae which changes the colour of the water but not entirely sure. seeing as the water has been deep down in the ground for thousands of years being heated by magma, as a result it is very warm...

...Swimming in the hot almost-fluorescent aquamarine waters of the Blue Lagoon surrounded by black basalt lava rocks in icy temperatures of minus six degrees pelted with sporadic bursts of freezing rain is a unique experience and one I will remember for some time. The Blue Lagoon is a pool of geothermal sea water created by an unexpected consequence to the massive Svartsengi power plant. The power plant was built in the late 70s, and together with four other geothermal power plants in Iceland, produces around 26% of the country's electricity as well as around 87% of the country's hot water requirements. The power plant uses geothermally heated sea water from as deep as 2000 meters / 6000 feet below ground to transfer heat to fresh water for consumer use. Blue Lagoon Spa, a must see in Iceland

Well much of Iceland is powered by such energy, and the Blue Lagoon spa is a prime example of what an amazing experience such geothermals can be. Set slightly out of Reykjavik this largely man made spa utilises natural sulphur springs to heat the lagoon pool. Facilities: A huge lagoon pool: The pool is the main feature in the spa and is massive, once you enter make sure you walk all around, because the temperature and bottom composition varies throughout, with some areas (nearer the spring) are really hot, and some areas are much cooler. ...Using a Lush Bath Ballistic is quite a heady experience. First there is the depth charge effect, when the tennis-ball shaped bomb hits the water of your pre-run bath, and starts to fizz like a giant alka-seltzer. Just imagine the average bloke settling back into a warm bath and turning on the "Jacuzzi" they develop after a few bitters or a large helping of baked beans and magnify it ten-fold for an idea of the effect of the fizzing bomb going off. Second there is the "Ahhhhh" which follows you laying back in an incredibly relaxing bath. The ballistic I use most is called "Big Blue", and contains sea-salt and kelp (seaweed). ...The first theme park on my trip to Orlando was Typhoon Lagoon. I had last been there in about 1992 so was interested to see it again. Typhoon Lagoon is part of the Disney family and was opened in 1989. The idea behind the park is that it was created as the result of a huge storm which caused the rapids to form and the boats to be blown there from a nearby fishing village. As with everything Disney, this is another land of make believe! LOCATION: Typhoon Lagoon is part of the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. I have read a lot of reviews on various sites over the years where this restaurant is slated, but I have eaten there on seven occasions, and each time have been extremely satisfied. In fact on a short break my husband and I had in Paris itself, we took the train into Disneyland with the main purpose of having lunch in the Blue Lagoon. ...The Blue Lagoon in Iceland is a definite must you need to experience whilst in Iceland. Iceland is actually located on the boundaries of two large tectonic plates, these being the Eurasian plate and the North American plate. Iceland is very volcanic and there are many geysers and hot springs throughout the country. The Mid Atlantic Ridge actually runs from the East coast of Iceland through Reykajik to the centre of Iceland.
