BMW 1.9 Z3 Roadster

Advantages: Great for hot, sunny days and posing, great build quality
Disadvantages: Attracts unwanted attention, NOT a sports car

...If you want a BMW Z3 then do not go for the 1.9 version. The small engine, although provides some torque, is not up to the job to power a heavy 2 seater roadster. I bought a 1997 model in blue, with 65,000 miles on the clock for £8,000 back in April 2006. After changing jobs I fancied a change in car. I had always wanted a small two seater convertible and had considered the MX-5 and MGF. Although I like the look of both of these cars they are a bit.....well...... ponzy. I wanted a 'mans' convertible. Unfortunately the SLK, Z4 etc were way beyond my budget, as was the Z3 - or so I thought..... When I saw the Z3 I had to have a drive in it. It was a bright and sunny day, not too hot since it was April, but the rag top brigade were out in force. The Z3 felt sluggish, but then I had just gotten rid of my 240bhp twin entry turbo...

BMW Z3 2.8

Advantages: makes people jealous
Disadvantages: hasnt got any

...I first bought the BMW Z3 2.8 car beacause I was seduced by the sexy and aggressive looks and the sheer grunt and performance of the engine. It has taken me a while to get used to it and through that time I have gone through the emotions of being dissapointed and back to being delighted. If you approach the car understanding that this is a drivers car, in the mould od perhaps a '70's sports car then from day 0ne you will understand what its about. Perhaps that a cop out from BMW. After all, we are in the 21st century and my 4 years old 406 shows a much better level of sophistication than a supposedly upmarket make like BMW. Im 6ft and fit in quite well with the hardtop fitted. When ever the headroom with the soft top up is any worse I shall find out in the summer. Z3 2.0l what a car!

Advantages: Not enough space here to fit it all in ;-)
Disadvantages: None! But remember its a 2 seater sports car not a saloon.

...I've owned this car for nearly a year now and I absolutely love it to the point that I will never part with it. I bought this 2nd hand at a price of £10,600 for a 5 1/2 yr old, 2.0l, (6 cylinder) Special Edition with 27K on the clock. I spent 3 months avidly searching and viewing various cars before finding the right one. All I can say is do your homework and you will reap the rewards. There is a great Zroadster website that I can highly recommend, these guys know their stuff and can give you all the advice you will ever need. So for the car: If you want something that looks the part then go for it, you won't regret it. The body shape was updated late 99 which included flared rear wheel arches and a reshaped boot and rear light cluster. I think they also added a roof lining in the hood that helped insulate and sound proof...

Logitech Z3e speakers

Advantages: Excellant sound
Disadvantages: big sizes

However when I broke my previous set, by tripping over the wire that plugs into my laptop I thought that I would search the market for some really good speakers that do my assortment of music justice and allow me to enjoy what the music that I love, but for so long have put up with poor examples of it through cheap speakers. BMW 2.8 Roadster '99 - 1 Owner & 50k miles

Advantages: Quality of drive from the engine, sheer fun of the drive.
Disadvantages: Handling not quite up to latest standards

...6.5 years of owning the flying rollerskate - sheer motoring all round brilliance. The car has cost £14 in repairs - a corroded reversing light switch. Servicing costs at BMW main dealer have been vastly cheaper than our Mondeo diesel, due to the length of time between services indicated by the intelligent service indicator. 2 rear tyres at 30000 miles, 4 new tyres at 50000 miles. The car drives like brand new even now, without ever the slightest murmur. The best thing about the car is the engine. The 2.8 straight six pulls like crazy from 1000rpm to 6000rpm in a turbine like way. That coupled to a very slick gearbow means the car is fantastic in a straight line. Pushing it into 3rd at 50-60mph gives you a good buzz, and rockets past anything. (0-60 in 6.5secs also is quite good fun!!) The other great thing is that this is all...

...Z3's have been the convertible sports car sensation at BMW for a few years now. In fact, it was no suprise that they are as popular as they are when you have a good long think about it. Firstly, above all else, its an attractive little sports car. Being little, it appeals to everyone. The machismo is not reduced however by its size. BMW 325i convertable

Advantages: Fair price, electric roof, leather interior, CD player and, of course 'blindingly rapid'.
Disadvantages: Quite expensive parts, can tend to guzzle petrol depending on the speed.

...Two years ago my brother was serching for a car which had class, good looks, gave a good performance, a soft-top and space for his golf clubs. He found a mattalic purple BMW 325i convertable which gave him everything above. The only thing it didn't give him was the good performance - instead it's performance was excellent. The soft-top folded back itself - what would you expect? The car came with black leather interior, a CD player, alloy wheels, a standard BMW alarm system and lots more. Insurance can obviously be high for a quality motor as with the BMW 325i. If anyone was going to buy this car my advice to them would be that: *BMW parts can be expensive, although replica parts are available at a fraction of the cost. *It may be necessary to buy a wind-breaker, (which breaks the sometimes violent wind when the roof is down...

Excellent Rare M Powered Car!!

Advantages: 321bhp, No Traction Control, Heated Leather Seats, Luggage Space

...experience the full potential of this car. Steering could feel a bit more involving, but it is sharp and responsive. The car itself feels more nimble than the e46 m3 and is more unique, the e46 m3's are everywhere these days, and yes they are a great car too, but for something more individual choose the Z3M Coupe. The mpg is relative to performance, cant really complain with 25ish mpg on averadge for the speed and acceleration on tap.(my golf mk4 R32 was getting 20-22 mpg and is alot slower!) She will also happily munch miles on motorways where cruising along will see you more 30ish mpg at 70-80mph. The Rear cargo net (or dog net) and boot cover are usefull, covering up things, or stops piled up things sliding into the passenger area under braking. Dashboard and centre console are finished with leather and Gauges for oil temp, outside...

...My wife and I have owned a 3 series BMW since 1974. The first one was a 316i (1596cc)with manual gearbox. The car was completely reliable and very well made, and the paint finish was faultless. Servicing was every 6,000 miles, although perhaps more frequent than other cars at that time, the cost of the service was as cheap, perhaps cheaper than that of other foreign cars. The second BMW we bought, in August 1997, was a 318iSE (1796cc)with automatic gearbox, again completely reliable but the paint finish was showing signs of not being as well finished off as the previous model, especially around the wheel acrches, inner boot lid bonnet etc. The servicing intervals however were longer, every 8,000 miles and again the servicing price was competative, the BMW labour costs seemingly cheaper than those of a Ford garage. BMW Sporty Diesel with Low Running Costs

Advantages: Good Resale value, sporty, comfortable, sleek
Disadvantages: Feels same as a much older model.

...I bought a 2004 model 320DSE recently and am pleased to report it is a nice executive car. The 320D range start with a basic model then the ES then the SE and then of course the Mtec Sport. The level of goodies you get with the car go up with each model but they all driver the same apart from the sports suspension on the Mtec. I decided the Se was probably the best value for myself with Climate control, electric windows , 6 speed manual gearbox, electric windows all round, and cd player advantages over the ES. This is the second BMW I have owned. the first being a 316 made in 92, and I must report it is amazingly similar to drive. The pedals are offset to the right slightly but this feels quite natural, the, the brakes are exellent, and the clutch is fairly light but has quite a long travel which I find takes a while to get used to...
