Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. ...This is a story taken from one of the television episodes of the ever-popular Bob the Builder. For those of you not familiar with Bob, he is a very popular cartoon builder who works in a place called Bobsville with his partner, Wendy, and a selection of talking machines. The book begins with Bob making himself a bugle out of an old pipe which he finds whilst fixing a broken central heating system. He plans to practise playing as much as he can so that he can join a band. Bob?s playing is terrible, but no one wants to hurt his feelings by telling him so. He keeps the poor machines awake all night as he practises. Eventually the team resort to hiding the bugle so that they can have some peace, but disaster strikes when Roley rolls over the bugle by mistake and flattens it! Can Bob fix it? You?ll have to read the book to find out...

...Bob The Builder Pocket Library Jack is now 10 months old and completely loves books! I do think however that I like Bob The Builder far more than he does although when I bought these books home with me after an afternoon of shopping he was pretty pleased! They were on offer in Woolworth's for £2.99p and for that money what you are getting is a set of six books each one about a different characte4r from the Bob the Builder Television programme shown on CBeebies. Bob the Builder has been around for a fair few years now and a show that I believe is set to continue for a long time. Paying the price I did I felt was pretty reasonable as the RRP is £3.99p, so £1 off. The six books are housed within a hard sleeve type cover, which keeps them tidy and sits nicely on Jacks bookshelf. The books are all board books making the pages...

...My son really loves Bob the Builder, so today we decided to watch 'Speedy Skip'. The DVD comes in a normal yellow plastic DVD case. The cover has the title on and a picture of Bob, JJ and skip. Upon opening the case, the disc is on the right hand side. It is red with the title on and has a picture of skip on. The disc also has pictures of tools in the background coloured orange. On the left side of the case is a small booklet which explains how to use the DVD and hints on careful handling of the disc. The DVD is produced by Hit Entertainment and runs for sixty eight minutes. The rating of this is U, which means it is suitable for everyone, and it was made in 2003. When I bought this for my son I paid £7.99 for it, although I'm sure if you look around now, you may pick it up cheaper. The DVD has five episodes on it...

...Can Dodger help Bob fix it? Yes he can. Vroom Dodgers wheels and the friction will make him speed along the hard floor to the next building job. Dodger moves ok on the carpet but not so fast. Wendy can open Dodgers doors. Bob can open the engines bonnet as he thinks there might be a problem there. Dodger is a two seater truck it?s quite new. This truck is useful . There is a rotating crane fixed in the trailer this can be used to pick up those bricks with the hook at the end of the attached string. Careful try and lift the bricks into the trailer bit difficult find something with a loop on it to lift. Before I get carried away in a world of make believe building with Dodger let me describe him.
