Avianca, good airline for South America

Advantages: Cheap, comfortable and friendly
Disadvantages: Advertising as direct flights when that is not the case

...Quito to Caracas a few months ago to arrive at the airport and find that I had to change planes in Bogota. Very irritating given that it vastly increased journey time and had me in a panic for a few minutes when I couldn't see any Quito to Caracas flight on the departures board. This is fairly common in south America but that doesn't make it any less frustrating. Previously published on Dooyoo under name llamass....

Loud and ludicrous!!

Advantages: Rock at its best with an interesting tour thrown in!
Disadvantages: Probably helps to be a Maiden fan.

.... Steve Harris ? bass, backing vocals, keyboards (1975-present) - is interesting in interview. Dave Murray ? guitars (1976-present) - has a few choice stories to tell. Adrian Smith ? guitars, backing vocals (1980?1990, 1999?present) - describes the techniques the band use to avoid killing each other. Janick Gers ? guitars, backing vocals (1990-present) - shows off his guitar flinging skills as well as his exceptional playing. Michael Kenney ? live keyboards (since 1986) - tinkles his ivories. The gigs themselves become ludicrous as Bruce pilots the band into South America. Locations such as Bogota, Mexico City and Santiago are viewed from crowd level outside where people have been camping on the roadside for 10 days to get prime positions in the stadiums. Advantages: Intelligent thrillerwith strong female characters
Disadvantages: Might be too complex if you prefer a lighter read

...and Elly decide to take a break, staying in California with Lenny's "friend" J.T. whilst Elly mulls things over. She's overcome her addiction to cocaine, but is having trouble giving up Lenny. As J.T. and Lenny give her conflicting information, Marla has no idea who - if anyone - to trust. Both of them claim to have Elly's best interests at heart. Each of them - Elly, J.T. and Lenny - give Marla their side of the story. She hears how Elly fell in love with Lenny when traveling in Bogotá, how she transformed the retail business he used as a cover for cocaine smuggling and how Elly got in too deep and let the drug control her (a rookie mistake, apparently). J.T. has a more sinister story for Marla. Like her, he's a very private person who - up to this point - has said very few words. He tells her that he had to bail Lenny out of trouble...

...I have visited Goa for seven years consecutively, up to three years ago. The only reason I have not been recently is marriage breakup and studying for a degree. Cidade de Goa is an excellant hotel, the staff are incredibly friendly without being intrusive. The hotel is spotlessly clean, restful and to be honest the best one I have ever stayed in, and I used to travel extensively. The people in Goa are so willing to help and show you the area, one never feels threatened. Anjuna market is a delight for shopaholics as are the back streets in Panaji (Panjim) the capital. Bogota Beach has the most incredible fish restaurant on the beach, it is advisable to go early at lunch time, as you can pick your own fish and it is first come first served. The Red Snapper is to die for, as is the freshly caught lobster. Menino's restaurant...

A Hidden Gem In The Heart Of Colombia

I have one particular gem that I want to share, but am half reluctant to do at the same time in fear of it being over run by tourists! A little way south of Bogota there is a city called Pereira, just outside this city lies a tiny village called La Bodega. Off the road, up a very long dusty track lies Finca Villa Maria - a hidden paradise that seriously takes some beating. This is coming from somebody who has seen the pyramids, dived the great barrier reef, watched caribbean sun rises and lounged on a then unspoilt dubai beach.
