Books, Glorious Books!

...Book reviews eh? There are loads of places on the net you can find them, but are they any good? You have the professional book reviewers, who generally write well, but have often been given a book to review that they wouldn't normally read so their heart isn't in it. Or how about on Amazon? People who have bought a book they liked, or didn't, and who want to tell you about it. "That was really great!" or "that was really s..., er, not great!" are often the order of the day. Concise, but not much use. Even on Ciao and Dooyoo, book reviews can vary from being in the style of Amazon, to being as long as the river Amazon. I fall into the latter category, I?m sad to confess. Book Review: Four Word Film Reviews

Advantages: The most fun you can have with movies in four words or less
Disadvantages: You'll love it so much, you'll want to buy every new edition, and get hooked on the site!

...I love movies, and I also enjoy reading on-line movie reviews, whether they are on IMDb or by some reputable, well-know film critic. Heck, I even write some reviews myself. But sometimes I like to have a reference book at my side so when something shows up on TV that I'm unfamiliar with, I can quickly get an idea if I should change the channel or keep on watching. To do this on-line means getting up from my comfortable couch and doing an Internet search - such a bother! In addition, some of the reviews go on forever, and who has time for that when the opening credits are already rolling? For these reasons, I've been known to buy books like Leonard Maltin's Movie Guides, and have never regretted any of those purchases. However, sometimes I do find the print in these books to be a touch small (these old eyes aren't getting any...
