Not quite a bunch of roses : Cadbury's Roses

Advantages: Nice chocolate, a couple of good fillings
Disadvantages: Lack of variety of fillings, lots of old flavours are now missing

While in Morrisons, I looked all through the usual offerings of things like Kit-Kats, Bounty Bars, Maltesers etc., but none of them seemed to appeal to me. Then, my eyes rested on a wire trolley-load of boxes of Cadbury's Roses, on special offer, at £1.99. My eyes kind of lit up, my spirits lifted slightly, and I dumped one of the boxes in my trolley. Review of Cadbury Roses

Why are they called Roses?

Advantages: Lovely cadbury chocolate
Disadvantages: Centres not as good as they used to be.

...Before Christmas several shops had offers for tins of chocolates and I bought a big tin of Cadbury Roses. We are still digging into them but I have sampled them all, even the ones I dislike! My tin contained 1.05kg, I do wish I had counted how many chocolates were in the tin, but on second thoughts I don't want to know how many we have consumed although they have been shared with friends and family! Best before date is April 2009, I was surprised to see the contents are stamped on the base although different chocolates could be replaced if necessary. There is information on the makers Cadbury Trebor Bassett and contact details, if you need to complain. Although it does say there could be a white bloom if the chocolates have been left in the sun or exposed to heat, which is harmless. There is a list of ingredients and a note that Soya...

Do you prefer daisies or roses?

Advantages: Versatility, great flavours, high quality
Disadvantages: No strong smell

...Every now and then, my dear mum decides to treat us. Whether its on a day out, a trip to the cinema or a special meal for tea, she usually makes a big effot at least once every two to three weeks. I love these times, when me, my mum and two younger brothers go out for a posh meal to a big fancy restuarant or we drive 3 hours to a theme park and spend the night in a hotel. Sometimes though my mum is slightly tight for money and has to put the treat off untill the next week, although she doesnt do this often, when she does she feels really bad and she always trys to make it up to us- introduce Cadburys Roses. ...ensure that it's safe to use. Depending on how sharp you like your point, you shouldn't need to sharpen this too often either, so you'll definitely get your money's worth out of this pencil. Price and Availability Speaking of getting your money's worth...the Bourjois Khôl & Contour eye-liner pencil retails at £4.20 at Boots. However, getting your hand on the Rose Fantaisiste shade could prove tricky, since it's not available on the Boots website. I can't say whether or not it is still available in store, as I haven't had any reason to look out for it since I bought it. I've had mine for over a year now and it's still going strong. If you're interested in other shades, the Boots website has 7 different shades (albeit it two different black shades and their new, double-ended black and white Khôl Contour pencil). ...There always seems to be a very large amount of chocolate around my house at Christmas. This year there were, among others two large boxes of Cadburys Roses. I am not a huge fan of chocolate, it tastes nice enough but I am not obsessive about it. Some people take this as offensive, but I tend to pig out over Christmas time in several ways and eating is one of them. Cadburys Roses found there way around my house this Christmas, here is my review of them. There are two new sweets in this box of Roses, Chocolate Bite and Noisette Moment. Both are good enough, there are very few sweets that I do not like, the chocolate bite especially I a nice addition. Advantages: Wonderful tale of cinematic fantasy

Review of The Purple Rose Of Cairo (DVD)

Audrey Rose: Is she or isn't she?

Advantages: Very watchable, interesting storyline, quite scary in parts
Disadvantages: Rather dated, a little stilted acting here & there

...isn't in the slighest a film about possession/devils/ghosts or anything else of that nature, as some people interpreted my review on DooYoo. It's about the concept of reincarnation. It has to be said that I personally found the novel far superior to the film, as the novel goes very deeply into the philosophies of Eastern religions, reincarnation, karma, nirvana etc., whereas if the film were to encompass everything the book has to offer, it would probably be about six months long! All the same though, Audrey Rose as a movie is, though somewhat dated, a very good 120-odd minutes' viewing. The best part about the film for me, is that there's little or no idea of what the ending is going to be until it actually happens - and, I am left wondering - why (assuming for a moment that the film is real life, and not a group of actors...

...The time for celebrating the birth of Jesus is approaching and for some reason, I know not why, we seem to eat more chocolate at this time of year than any other. Go round any supermarket at this time and there are random heaps of tins in all corners, they are on special offer, or two for one offers, or just there, but you can't miss them. Our favourite and the most traditional that we can remember are Cadburys Roses. When the children were little my parents always bought us a tin for Christmas and we opened it on Christmas Eve, there was nothing left in the tin by new years eve but by then we had had enough chocolates to last us most of January.
