...I would just like to write a review on Boots, based on the main store in the Centre of Plymouth's main shopping centre. The Boots store I am reviewing is in Drake Circus, which is a fairly new shopping centre in the middle of Plymouth. Boots has had a long prescence in Plymouth, and there has always been a shop within 100 yards or so of where it actually is now from what I can remember. The original place that housed Boots is known locally, by the affectionate name of 'Boots Corner' - but should you wish to find a place in Plymouth, then I can honestly say that if it is in this area then don't be surprised if you hear Boots Corner being talked about. ...Or rather, I tend to do most of my Boots shopping in the Boots branch in a town called Wellington! Boots has been around for well over a century. Perhaps others will relate how Jesse Boots started his family business in Nottingham. I'll just stick to reviewing Boots the store. ...In almost every shopping centre and walkway you will find a Boots store. Quick history lesson: Boots was established in 1849 by a man named John Boot and his son jesse. The company was sold to an American drug company in the 20's and was sold back to British owners in the 30's. In 1991 Boots bought the company Halfords which sold bicycle, car and camping equipment. Boots later sold Halfords in 2002. The company manufactures its own brand of painkillers, vitamins and other such drugs. Another interesting fact found is that in 2005 Boots was looking into selling sex toys but later abandoned that idea. ...Boots is a well-known chemist with stores up and down the country. If you don't have one near you, or find it inconvenient, you can buy products from the website at http://www.boots.com. Boots sell cosmetics, medicines, perfumes, haircare products, even sandwiches, and they are even branching out into areas like Botox, photo-processing, opticians, and laser-eye surgery! I have seen these advertised, but I have not used these services, so I can't comment on them. I have two stores near me, but I'm concentrating on the Trafford Centre branch for now. It is spread out into two floors - the ground floor deals with photo-processing and baby products, ie: nappies, bottles, etc. The upper floor is dedicated almost entirely to cosmetics, haircare products, etc, with a small section for the food (sandwiches, crisps, drinks, etc...

For example where I live here in Cardiff there’s one on the main shopping street (Queen Street) which is the main, larger store and there is another just outside the central train station. Advantages: Reliable name & Advantage Points
Disadvantages: Prices can be dearer than Superdrug

...I sometimes check out product prices when I am in Superdrug or some other chemist and notice that prices can sometimes be a bit cheaper than in Boots. I usually do try and do my shopping in Boots for my toiletries as I find it handy when the points on my advantage card add up. The advantage card enables you to get 1 point for every 25 pence that you spend in the store, and quite often they do double or triple point weekends so the points can fairly add up. I save them up for Christmas time and find them handy for buying extras for my son and two nieces. Which is why I usually try to buy my toiletries in Boots as every little helps!!
