The world of beatrox potter
Advantages: pleasant museum for Potter fans
Disadvantages: none
...Brief about Beatrix Potter?.
Beatrix Potter was a famous children' novelist who created Peter Rabbit, Benjamin bunny and many other characters. She was born in London in 1866, having a very interesting life until her death in December 1943.
Her love of the Lake District was brought about during her family holidaying there as a child.
She famously purchased Hilltop farm in Sawry, in the Lake District, then proceeded to buy more of the Lake District open land to stop developers from 'ruining the countryside', she then donated the land to the National Trust in order for it to be protected.
The museum?..
In Bowness-on-Winderemere, a few miles outside Windermere, there lies the World of Beatrix Potter.
It has two access point, one from Crag Brow, (A5074) down a very steep slope, and the other is at the bottom of Crag road, on Rayrigg...

Dare you enter Mr McGregors garden?
Advantages: Interesting for all the family
Disadvantages: not enough for a full day
...This years holiday for my family was to the Lake District and one of the attractions we decided to visit was Beatrix Potter as there was no way you could go to the Lakes without taking in this attraction or visiting 'Hilltop' where Beatrix lived. We opted for the attraction as felt that maybe this would be more appealing to all of use than just going to look at where Beatrix used to live with not much else there and we all love the tales of BP.
Getting there is fairly straight forward, Junction 36 off the M6, take the A591 towards Keswick turning off onto the A592 towards Newby Bridge with the attraction being located in Bowness town centre. Alternatively you could take one of the Windermere ferries from either Lakeside or Ambleside or take the unique car Ferry that runs from Ferry House at Far Sawrey to Ferry Nab just South...

Visit The Magical World Of Beatrix Potter.
Advantages: Very cheap and educational for children and adults.
Disadvantages: Very small museum.
...the attraction. Here they serve good homemade food and snacks and offer a wide selection of hot and cold drinks.
Within the tea rooms there are parent and toddler facilities and even a children's activity play area to keep kids entertained, while you relax with your coffee.
You can sit inside of outside on the terrace to take in the spectacular views, surrounding the attraction.
PRICES
The trip to the world of Beatrix potter cost £5.95 per Adult and £3.00 for children. This is paid at the booking desk when you enter the attraction.
LOCATION
This attraction is located in Bowness on Windermere, and I very easy to get to from all locations.
If you are coming from the M6 south bound, you need to exit at junction 40 on to the A592, this will road will then take you all of the way to the Beatrix attraction, just follow the sign posts...

The perfect honeymoon and more...... (Update)
Advantages: Wonderful food, views, staff, rooms.............
Disadvantages: Nothing at all
...only ever passed through it on the way to somewhere else. We both wanted to be somewhere peaceful, we both enjoy walking and fresh air and we both fancied a bit of luxury, so the search was on!
We began by searching the internet to try and find a hotel that suited our requirements of a good, licenced restaurant, a four poster bed, en suite Jacuzzi, and in a quiet location.
We tried all the different search engines for hotels in the Windermere area to no avail. We even rang one or two and were asked by one for £500 deposit!
Then one evening Dave had gone into the kitchen to make us a cup of tea and I took over the laptop. I went onto the Smoothound site, which we had already scoured over and over, went to the section for Windermere and there was the name of a hotel that neither of us had picked up in previous searches! It was as...

Cottages in the heart of the Lakes
Advantages: Beauty,peaceful and spacious.
Disadvantages: the uncontrollable weather
...lets, to cater for everyone from the courting couple to the massive family party at one of the larger lettings, (like the Beech Manor in Windermere which offers a luxurious accommodation for 12 people starting price from £1800, But for this you get a small palace with acres of ground).
Anyway, for a well priced pleasurable holiday, for the peace seeker or the fell walker, then you should give Cumbrian Cottages a try as they will have a place for you to let.
I do have a favourite holiday let which a go to annually via Cumbrian cottages, it is in an excellent location just outside Bowness-on-Windermere, I wont divulge the name as I don't wont it inundated, leaving it fully booked all year round.
NB. Cumbrian Cottages will also let your cottage out as a holiday home, dependent on inspection and grading....

An Amazing Place!
Advantages: Beautiful, Peaceful, Lots of things to do.
Disadvantages: None
...Without Stiles" walks, including: Friar's Crag, Keswick, which is a route alongside Derwentwater with amazing views of the central mountains, lake shoreline and woods. And Tarn Hows, which is a circular walk round a beautiful tarn with views of mountains and lots of woods for the kids to play in.
If that is not what you fancy then there are also a wide array of tourist attractions to see:
* Lakes Aquarium at Lakeside - We went and it only took us about an hour and a half to get round it, but for the littler ones it kept there interest and it was really interesting - afterwards you can sit by the Lake and have an Ice Cream.
* Blackwell - the Arts and Craft House near Bowness-on-Windermere
* Fell Foot Park near Newby Bridge - This is a great place for a Picnic.
* Graythwaite Hall Gardens
* Holehird Gardens Patterdale Road
* Lakeland Limited next...

A beautiful vista from Gummers How
Advantages: Glorious views, gentle stroll and tranquillity
Disadvantages: Can get a little tricky underfoot
...of the fells in the Lakes but is one of the highest ?foothills? in the area.
Its terrain is easy in parts but can become a little tricky, with it being a mix of woodland, moorland and rock-face as you make your way to the summit.
The walk itself is only short, being less than a 1000 metres one way, and should take about an hour at an easy pace, (but take your time and enjoy the views)
**WHERE IS IT..?
Gummers How is in the Southern part of the Lake District and can easily be found along a road called Fell Foot Brow, (which is opposite Fell foot park), just off the A592, between Newby Bridge and Bowness-on-Windermere.
**PARKING?
Parking is free at Astley?s Plantation car park, courtesy of the Forestry commission, and can be easily found approximately half a mile up Fell Foot Brow just off the A592.
It is a good sized car...
