...On the 7th November 2008 the Al Mahdi Mosque was officially opened in the centre of Bradford. It's a sign of the changing times and reaffirms the fact that Bradford is a multi cultural city with a huge Muslim population. This Mosque is a magnificent building, clearly visible from afar, standing like a palace against the skyline. I happened by chance to be in Bradford on the date of the Mosque's inauguration but by a rather spooky coincidence I was actually in Bradford to see a much older place of worship - its Anglican Cathedral. To begin with I had quite a bit of trouble locating the Cathedral. I knew that there was one and I knew that it was fairly central but despite easily finding the City Hall and other landmarks I seemed to have walked around in a large circle before I eventually spotted a sign pointing down a narrow alleyway...

Bradford Travelodge - I do!

Advantages: Basic but good budget accommodation; easy for non-drivers to get to
Disadvantages: A little way from centre of city; no breakfast other than packaged tray type

...Plans for a weekend break to Bradford (yes, really) arose from a Travelodge promotion in which room prices started at just £5 a night. I was looking for ideas for the OH?s birthday and wanted a destination that wasn?t too far away and where the Travelodge wasn?t in the middle of nowhere; Bradford seemed possible. Although I wasn?t able to get the cheapest rate, I was happy enough with a charge of £19 per night for the room. While this Travelodge isn?t ?in the middle of nowhere?, neither is it in the centre of the city. However, as curry was to be the central theme of the weekend, and the hotel is situated in the suburb of Thornbury which has many highly recommended restaurants, I didn?t mind too much that the location wasn?t central. There were frequent buses to the city centre, a journey that takes only ten minutes and New Pudsey...

A park in Bradford and a grand hall.

Advantages: good green cultural place

...A park up north. We went visiting friends in Bradford in the summer and took a visit to Lister Park. When we were young things we used to live nearby my husband and this friend were at uni there we 6 of us living in a big terrace in Manningham nr lister park and used to walk through it and visit the Cartwright hall a museum in the centre of the park. This park had a lottery grant of 3.2 million pounds in 1997 and we visited to see the smartened up park. A little history. Lister Park was bought by Bradford council from Samuel Cunnliffe Lister 1870 on condition it was used as a public park. This park contains Cartwright hall which was built between 1902 and 1904 and is the cities Art gallery and museum. Parking for this park is on the street, but if you are in Bradford the buses go past this park and stop regularly, bus fares...

Review of Lister Park (Bradford)

Bradford - Doomed this time

Advantages: everyone loves an underdog, bulldog spirit
Disadvantages: too many veterans

...Were we all glad that Bradford City stayed up last season? I was because it just proved that the litlle 'uns can compete at this level with the Megastars. Bradford's story gives hope to all those clubs in the lower divisions, just like Watford, Charlton and Barnsley did before - except Bradford stayed up. It is amazing though if you run through their team. Plenty of old stagers in the line up. I think I remember hearing that in that final game of last season the average age of the side was 29 ? Way too much 'experience'. And those players really should be helping as side out of Division One - not staying in the Premiership. New Manager Chris Hutchings may have new ideas - may bring in new players - but I just feel that Bradford have had their 'day in the sun' and come May next year they will once more be looking at Division One...

Bradford a place for Depression

...Bradford university is not a good uni at all! I am studying a computing course here and am fed up of it after just a few weeks, The lectures are just endlessly boring powerpoint presentations and the lecturers are even more boring, many lack any kind of enthusiasm. Most people come to uni to socialise and make friends i too went for the same reason but the reality at bradford is far far from what you might of read/heard about it in the prospectus or on a open day. Since i have been on my course i have not met any people, almost everyone is foreign and cannot even speak english well some don't even know how to use a computer and being a computing course it begs the question 'how does bradford uni take such students?' I think i can answer that question quite simply all they care about is money, the foreign students get such good...

Secure Parking at Leeds Bradford Airport

...Well, seeing as how my Chicago Rock Café opinion was ruined a few weeks back and now sits blank, I am going to do another opinion on one of Bradfords Nightclubs. This time it is the turn of Bar Magaluf or Magaluffs as we call it. Me and a group of friends went there on Saturday night as a change to our usual scene. Magaluffs is situated at 41 Morley Street and is surrounded by take-a-ways and curry shops. It is a little out of the way for a nightclub, totally separated from the mainstream nightlife. Leeds Bradford Airport

Advantages: 10 - 15 mins drive from City Centre on a bus
Disadvantages: Management have cloth ears

Added on 13/07/2001 I recently used Leeds/Bradford for a flight to Munich via Amsterdam with KLM....the airport is now much bigger than last time I used it, with further plans for expansion, I think they have ruined the upstairs view from the cafe, by putting a stupid corridor from the ground floor to the baggage reclaim area, so you go up stairs and alsong this corridoor only to go down again to the reclaim area......stupid and poor management..I wonder how many casual visitors have been put of from visiting the Airport now..anyway, my experience from a passengers point of view was generally very good, facilities are better than ever once you go through the security check.... Review of Leeds/Bradford, England (LBA)

We love you Bradford - We do

Advantages: Great skill level, brilliant team
Disadvantages: No competition except Wigan and SH, so most games are boring

...Whereas no-one normally has a good thing to say about Bradford (the city) you can be sure when you mention the Bulls you'll get a smile. Bradford Bulls is one of the great things Bradford boasts and is one of, if not THE best team in England. We have brilliant pre-match entertainment including the lovely Bullettes (cheerleaders) who refused to sign my Bulls shirt at the open day (I wasn't drunk when I asked them - honest), Bullman and Bullboy (the mascots) and they normally have a band on with some pretty decent tunes being played.
