Why I chose Blue Lavender School
I receive Daily emails from Group on and noticed one day one for the Blue Lavender School to make cake pops. I thought they looked very different and while I do enjoy making cakes something I had not tried. I was not aware of the school?s Reputation or knew anyone who had attended a course but the website did look professional so decided to give it a try.
I paid through Group on then could book through the website. There was a selection of dates but due to a bit of chaos going on in my life I couldn?t book immediately and when I finally booked places were limited. I managed to book a course for a Saturday afternoon which lasted three hours.

Although I?m hardly the best baker going, I do like to try and for that reason, I have a lot of cake making products in my baking cupboard, including these cake cases. Price and packaging These paper cake cases currently cost 48p from Asda, there 100 cases in each pack. The paper cake cases come in a see-through plastic container, this container keeps all of the cases in one place and stops them getting damaged. The cake cases themselves are made from quite a thick paper material and white in colour. My experience The paper cases aren?t huge so wouldn?t be suitable for baking muffins or cupcakes, but are perfect for normal fairy cakes, another common use for ours are rice crispy cakes. ...Cake Boards
Not only do Asda offer a wide range of baking ingredients, they also stock cake boxes, boards and makeshift cake stands to present the finished result.
According to the Asda website, they offer a square and round cake board but I have only ever spotted the round board in my local supermarket. This cake board is part of the Chosen By You range from Asda. It has a diameter of 10" and is suitable for cakes up to 8".
The cake board has a foil like appearance and is simply packaged in a clear wrapper (cannot be recycled). The cake board is flammable. Asda recommend that you allow your cake to cool and apply a thin layer of jam to the board to allow your cake to sit neatly and not fall about.
Each board is priced at just 65p.
My Thoughts
I bake cakes regularly and used to just present them on a regular plate...
