Braun 5100 Silk & Soft Battery Shaver

Advantages: Easy to use, attractive, long life battery
Disadvantages: Not the closest of shaves

...I was fed up of disposables going rusty after one use and wanted something that I could use over and over again. I didn't have a lot of money to spend- i just wanted a basic shaver for my legs. However, after browsing vigouresly i saw the 'Braun Silk and Soft Body Shave 5100' and thought it a good deal. I was only looking for cheap leg shaver but to my suprise, the decription stated: underarm shaving, bikini trim AND leg shaving. Along with all the other features like: 'flexible foil', 'softstrip' and 'OptiShave attatchments'. I'm probably impressed to easily, because I had no idea what each feature meant, it just sounded better compared to others in the same price range. I was very impressed when I opened it because: 1, it was so easy to use (just popped in the batteries and off i went) and 2, money off at figleaves for my purchase...

Worth the pain - Braun Silk-Epil X'elle

Advantages: Effective and long lasting
Disadvantages: Painful!

...For some reason, despite being blonde and fairly dainty in other respects, I've been cursed with leg hair that belongs to someone else - someone like my big grizzly bear of a boyfriend! It grows so fast that I usually have to shave my legs every day in the summer, which is a right pain. I've tried hair removal creams and found it just took longer, smelt horrible and didn't last any better, and waxing which brought me out in nasty bumps and didn't even get all the hairs. Bah. Anyway, I thought I'd give this a try as I had nothing to lose other than the 50 quid it cost me from Argos (although it's probably available cheaper online), and I've probably spent that loads of times over on razors and shaving foam... Braun 5580 Silk Epil X'elle Body and Face

Advantages: Easy to use, versatile
Disadvantages: Ingrowing hairs

...I was bought the Braun 5580 by my husband for Christmas (it was on my list)!! Normally retails for about £60 and was bought from Boots. I've been using it religiously for the past 2 months....probably about 4 times a week. I use it on my underarms, legs (upper and lower) and bikini line. I have also used it on my upper lip and my husbands chin. This proved too painful for both of us and we've not done it again....so, although you do get an attachment that enables you to use it on your face, you have to have a very high pain threshold to be able to do so. I've always shaved and occasionally have everything waxed, usually when we're going away on holiday or for a special occasion. I shave my legs and underarms everyday and my bikini line every other day (I find it gets stubbly otherwise)...not an attractive look! The Braun...

...SILK. This film has some advanced theoretical science in regard to worm holes, electromagnetic waves and Anti gravity. It deals with Japanese scientist, Hashimoto who is the inventor of the 'Menger Sponge'. When used it traps all free energy within a small radius. With it he can walk on ceilings, slow down time and even trap 'Ghosts'. The film starts with the hideous deaths of some residents of a block of apartments. The specialist team is brought in and soon they have a ghost trapped, the ghost of a young boy with a sad and disturbing past. But soon the team start dieing, who is he escaping from the impenetrable room. What is he wordlessly saying? What horrors is he about to inflict on the world? Advantages: quicker than tweezing, the light, face and other attachment, ice pack
Disadvantages: can hurt, & tweezers can go blunt after awhile.

...skin smoother, but the pulling of the hairs can hurt. and sometimes depending on the quality of the epilator, this my at times cut the hair rather than pulling, therefore causing you to have stubbleregrowth. and we all know, us ladies HATE THE STUBBLE FEEL. you may or will get the reddening of the skin, but that will soon disappear after a few hours. try not to eipalte your skin just before or after you have a bath, cus you may become or feel a bit tender. any how, go ahead give the braun a go, it may or may not achieve the results that you are looking for. it has some what worked for me. but over all its a good thing to have in your cupboard. also mains and recahargeable would be nice to have....

...I had the old Braun silk-epil since about 1999 and when it gave up the ghost I started shaving again. After a couple of months I noticed that I was hairier than usual and got really annoyed at having to shave every couple of days so decided to invest in another of Braun's epilators. I must admit that this particular model comes with lots of accessories (shaving head, small/starter epilator head, intermediate epilator head with massager, advanced epilator head & ice pack with glove) which I find excessive but if you are new to epilating I can see the advantage in being able to get used to using one by building up in stages. Disadvantages: cartridge is good for approx. 30 cleaning cycles - cutter and foil in one complete head

...I was looking for a good shaver that does the job right, with a smooth and fast shave. After searching around for some time I found this excellent design product from Braun. This is without doubt the best Braun shaver to date. The combination of the new head, foil and cutter assembly has made this shaver the one to beat. Braun Epilator

Advantages: Lots of accessories, good instructions, excellent range of features
Disadvantages: none specific to the product itself, several to the process of epilating

...I bought this product to replace an older version from a different manufacturer that I have had for about five years. I moved from North America to the UK and my old epilator wasn't dual voltage, so buying a new one was easier than the variety of adaptors and step down devices I would have had to find to keep using the old one. Because I've been epilating so long, its hard for me to comment on the pain level of the Braun vs any other epilator as I really don't get much pain from the process anymore. At first it does hurt when you use it, but in my experience your skin gets accustomed, your hair roots get weaker, and the whole process gets quicker and easier.
