Braun Xpressive Epilator - I love this product!

Advantages: Easy to hold, has a light to show up hairs, re-chargeable.
Disadvantages: None that I can think of.

...I love my Braun Expressive Epilator. For years I have wanted to try an epilator for removing the hairs on my legs, but have been put off by stories of pain and the fact that most have looked liked instruments of torture (ok ok, so I exagerate, but you get the idea of my wimpish attitude). I was a firm "shaving will do" type of gal. It's amazing how attitudes can change once you have become a mother. You have a sort of "I've given birth to 4 children, what can hurt more than that?!" attitude which makes you look at the world in a whole new light. Out shopping one day, I saw these Braun Xpressive Epilators on offer and decided to give one a go - the new big brave girl that I am... Worth the pain - Braun Silk-Epil X'elle

...For some reason, despite being blonde and fairly dainty in other respects, I've been cursed with leg hair that belongs to someone else - someone like my big grizzly bear of a boyfriend! Braun Epilator

Advantages: Lots of accessories, good instructions, excellent range of features
Disadvantages: none specific to the product itself, several to the process of epilating

...I bought this product to replace an older version from a different manufacturer that I have had for about five years. I moved from North America to the UK and my old epilator wasn't dual voltage, so buying a new one was easier than the variety of adaptors and step down devices I would have had to find to keep using the old one. Because I've been epilating so long, its hard for me to comment on the pain level of the Braun vs any other epilator as I really don't get much pain from the process anymore. At first it does hurt when you use it, but in my experience your skin gets accustomed, your hair roots get weaker, and the whole process gets quicker and easier. ...Hair free and not as painfull as led to believe. After all these years I invested in an epilator. I always thought it would hurt as everyone I knew had said it was. When I opened my product it looked scarey. I plugged it into the mains, it has a long wire which made it easier. I was sweating with fear at the noise before even trying. I thought no pain no gain and used the expert head first as there are two different head one for beginners. It is loud and has a light so you can see your hair. After the initial pain which was not bad the massagers took the pain away. It just felt like a sharp tingle. It can be a little more sharp round the ankle but I got over it. This is better than waxing as that is definitly more painfull and for anyone who wants to make it less scratchy there is an ice pack for the more frightened first time...

...I had the old Braun silk-epil since about 1999 and when it gave up the ghost I started shaving again. After a couple of months I noticed that I was hairier than usual and got really annoyed at having to shave every couple of days so decided to invest in another of Braun's epilators. ...have managed it myself a couple of times. I actually think that the hairs on my underarms and my bikini line have grown back less dense than before. However, I have been very disappointed with the results on my legs. My legs are quite hairy and I remove the hairs from the upper and lower parts of my leg...normally I shave them daily which produces a nice smooth effect but is a real pain to have to do all the time. I thought the Braun would mean that I wouldn't have to pay my leg hairs so much attention but it hasn't quite worked out that way. After 2 weeks of epilating every other day, I had the most awful ingrowing hairs on my legs. It didn't seem to affect my underarms or bikini line but my legs were covered in them. Advantages: quicker than tweezing, the light, face and other attachment, ice pack
Disadvantages: can hurt, & tweezers can go blunt after awhile.

...skin smoother, but the pulling of the hairs can hurt. and sometimes depending on the quality of the epilator, this my at times cut the hair rather than pulling, therefore causing you to have stubbleregrowth. and we all know, us ladies HATE THE STUBBLE FEEL. you may or will get the reddening of the skin, but that will soon disappear after a few hours. try not to eipalte your skin just before or after you have a bath, cus you may become or feel a bit tender. any how, go ahead give the braun a go, it may or may not achieve the results that you are looking for. it has some what worked for me. but over all its a good thing to have in your cupboard. also mains and recahargeable would be nice to have....

...I had been undecided for some time about whether or not to buy this product. Eventually, having read other reviews I decided to get it. There was an offer on on Amazon at the time and as I also had some vouchers it ended up costing £35 instead of £64 as is the price in most shops. With hindsight I'm glad I didn't pay the full price. ...I had never thought of using an epilator (mostly due to hearing how painful it is!!) until I saw it advertised in a magazine so I decided to stop being a wimp and to give it a go! I was slightly put off by the noise and the speed of the rollers spinning however when I plucked up the courage I was very surprised by how little the pain was! This has a cooling pack and the rollers "massage" as you go which help this be less painful than I originally thought. I have used the beginner head and gradually worked my way up to the expert which cuts the time in half due to have double the amount of tweezers which is slightly more painful but quicker!
