Braun Xpressive Epilator - I love this product!

Advantages: Easy to hold, has a light to show up hairs, re-chargeable.
Disadvantages: None that I can think of.

...I love my Braun Expressive Epilator. For years I have wanted to try an epilator for removing the hairs on my legs, but have been put off by stories of pain and the fact that most have looked liked instruments of torture (ok ok, so I exagerate, but you get the idea of my wimpish attitude). I was a firm "shaving will do" type of gal. It's amazing how attitudes can change once you have become a mother. You have a sort of "I've given birth to 4 children, what can hurt more than that?!" attitude which makes you look at the world in a whole new light. Out shopping one day, I saw these Braun Xpressive Epilators on offer and decided to give one a go - the new big brave girl that I am... Actually, I was amazed, surprised, and cross that I didn't buy one years ago. The pain is well - it isn't really a pain, more a slight tingly sharp...

Braun Epilator

Advantages: Lots of accessories, good instructions, excellent range of features
Disadvantages: none specific to the product itself, several to the process of epilating

...I bought this product to replace an older version from a different manufacturer that I have had for about five years. I moved from North America to the UK and my old epilator wasn't dual voltage, so buying a new one was easier than the variety of adaptors and step down devices I would have had to find to keep using the old one. Because I've been epilating so long, its hard for me to comment on the pain level of the Braun vs any other epilator as I really don't get much pain from the process anymore. At first it does hurt when you use it, but in my experience your skin gets accustomed, your hair roots get weaker, and the whole process gets quicker and easier. Quite a few of my hairs on my legs just don't grow in anymore. I do find my Braun to be much more efficent than my previous model, which I believe was a Remington. The Braun...

...For some reason, despite being blonde and fairly dainty in other respects, I've been cursed with leg hair that belongs to someone else - someone like my big grizzly bear of a boyfriend! It grows so fast that I usually have to shave my legs every day in the summer, which is a right pain. ...have managed it myself a couple of times. I actually think that the hairs on my underarms and my bikini line have grown back less dense than before. However, I have been very disappointed with the results on my legs. My legs are quite hairy and I remove the hairs from the upper and lower parts of my leg...normally I shave them daily which produces a nice smooth effect but is a real pain to have to do all the time. I thought the Braun would mean that I wouldn't have to pay my leg hairs so much attention but it hasn't quite worked out that way. After 2 weeks of epilating every other day, I had the most awful ingrowing hairs on my legs. It didn't seem to affect my underarms or bikini line but my legs were covered in them. One or two got a bit infected and went red and if I ran my hands up my legs, all I could feel were little lumps...

...Hair free and not as painfull as led to believe. After all these years I invested in an epilator. I always thought it would hurt as everyone I knew had said it was. When I opened my product it looked scarey. I plugged it into the mains, it has a long wire which made it easier. I was sweating with fear at the noise before even trying. I thought no pain no gain and used the expert head first as there are two different head one for beginners. It is loud and has a light so you can see your hair. After the initial pain which was not bad the massagers took the pain away. It just felt like a sharp tingle. It can be a little more sharp round the ankle but I got over it. This is better than waxing as that is definitly more painfull and for anyone who wants to make it less scratchy there is an ice pack for the more frightened first time...

...I had the old Braun silk-epil since about 1999 and when it gave up the ghost I started shaving again. After a couple of months I noticed that I was hairier than usual and got really annoyed at having to shave every couple of days so decided to invest in another of Braun's epilators. Braun epilator - a great choice!

Advantages: Efficient and quick, useful light.
Disadvantages: Quite noisy

...Although very unsure about using an epilator,I finally bit the bullet and bought this one 2 months ago. The first time I switched it on I was shocked at how loud it was and how scary the tweezers looked, but soon got into the swing of it. The small light on the front of it really helps to show up little hairs youve missed and the choice between a beginners head and a more advanced head really allows you to break yourself into the experience gently. The arrow head attachment also allows accuracy in a smaller area. Ever since though Ive had great results with it, much better than anything that I was getting from razors or waxing! Its not cheap but I would say its well worth the money. The little bag it all comes in and the inclusion of the ice pack aswell is very useful....

Advantages: quicker than tweezing, the light, face and other attachment, ice pack
Disadvantages: can hurt, & tweezers can go blunt after awhile.

...skin smoother, but the pulling of the hairs can hurt. and sometimes depending on the quality of the epilator, this my at times cut the hair rather than pulling, therefore causing you to have stubbleregrowth. and we all know, us ladies HATE THE STUBBLE FEEL. you may or will get the reddening of the skin, but that will soon disappear after a few hours. try not to eipalte your skin just before or after you have a bath, cus you may become or feel a bit tender. any how, go ahead give the braun a go, it may or may not achieve the results that you are looking for. it has some what worked for me. but over all its a good thing to have in your cupboard. also mains and recahargeable would be nice to have....
