Worth the pain - Braun Silk-Epil X'elle

Advantages: Effective and long lasting
Disadvantages: Painful!

...For some reason, despite being blonde and fairly dainty in other respects, I've been cursed with leg hair that belongs to someone else - someone like my big grizzly bear of a boyfriend! It grows so fast that I usually have to shave my legs every day in the summer, which is a right pain. I've tried hair removal creams and found it just took longer, smelt horrible and didn't last any better, and waxing which brought me out in nasty bumps and didn't even get all the hairs. Bah. Anyway, I thought I'd give this a try as I had nothing to lose other than the 50 quid it cost me from Argos (although it's probably available cheaper online), and I've probably spent that loads of times over on razors and shaving foam... Advantages: Easy to use, versatile
Disadvantages: Ingrowing hairs

...have managed it myself a couple of times. I actually think that the hairs on my underarms and my bikini line have grown back less dense than before. However, I have been very disappointed with the results on my legs. My legs are quite hairy and I remove the hairs from the upper and lower parts of my leg...normally I shave them daily which produces a nice smooth effect but is a real pain to have to do all the time. I thought the Braun would mean that I wouldn't have to pay my leg hairs so much attention but it hasn't quite worked out that way. After 2 weeks of epilating every other day, I had the most awful ingrowing hairs on my legs. It didn't seem to affect my underarms or bikini line but my legs were covered in them. One or two got a bit infected and went red and if I ran my hands up my legs, all I could feel were little lumps...

Braun 5585 SILK-EPIL X'elle BODY System+face

Advantages: quicker than tweezing, the light, face and other attachment, ice pack
Disadvantages: can hurt, & tweezers can go blunt after awhile.

...skin smoother, but the pulling of the hairs can hurt. and sometimes depending on the quality of the epilator, this my at times cut the hair rather than pulling, therefore causing you to have stubbleregrowth. and we all know, us ladies HATE THE STUBBLE FEEL. you may or will get the reddening of the skin, but that will soon disappear after a few hours. try not to eipalte your skin just before or after you have a bath, cus you may become or feel a bit tender. any how, go ahead give the braun a go, it may or may not achieve the results that you are looking for. it has some what worked for me. but over all its a good thing to have in your cupboard. also mains and recahargeable would be nice to have....

Soft and smooth silk-epil

...I had the old Braun silk-epil since about 1999 and when it gave up the ghost I started shaving again. After a couple of months I noticed that I was hairier than usual and got really annoyed at having to shave every couple of days so decided to invest in another of Braun's epilators. I must admit that this particular model comes with lots of accessories (shaving head, small/starter epilator head, intermediate epilator head with massager, advanced epilator head & ice pack with glove) which I find excessive but if you are new to epilating I can see the advantage in being able to get used to using one by building up in stages. Disadvantages: Most of the multi-heads are ineffectual, no trimmer attachment, pain and a whole pile of skincare things that they don't tell you in the manual.

...I had never thought of using an epilator (mostly due to hearing how painful it is!!) until I saw it advertised in a magazine so I decided to stop being a wimp and to give it a go! I was slightly put off by the noise and the speed of the rollers spinning however when I plucked up the courage I was very surprised by how little the pain was! This has a cooling pack and the rollers "massage" as you go which help this be less painful than I originally thought. I have used the beginner head and gradually worked my way up to the expert which cuts the time in half due to have double the amount of tweezers which is slightly more painful but quicker!
