...After meeting at a baseball game and falling in love, 4 years on things aren?t as rosy as they once were for Gary (Vince Vaughn) and Brooke (Jennifer Aniston). They have both become set in their daily routines; Brooke works hard at an art gallery and then comes home and tidies up after Gary whilst Gary works as a popular tour guide but instead of helping Brooke do the housework when he comes home he?s intent on lying around playing PS2 and watching football. After an awkward family meal things implode in Brooke and Gary?s relationship, Brooke decides that she can?t carry on with the way things stand therefore hatches a plan to break up with Gary in order for him to see how good he has it and change his ways however instead of this Gary plays hardball and completely shuts Brooke out. Enjoyable break up

Advantages: Great acting, most people will be able to connect with the story

...I went to see this when it was in cinemas and liked it so much that when it came out on DVD I went straight out and bought it. The film was written by Jeremy Garelick and Jay Lavender and even Vince Vaughn did part of the story and the film was directed by Peyton Reed. The story: The film, hence the name, is about a couple who break up and how it effects both of them as they are still living in the same home together while they wait to sell it. However, neither of them really wants to make way for the other so there are lots of comedy moments during the film and it isn't all serious! The film also follows how it affects their joint friends as normally the group of them do everything together and as you can imagine this suddenly is an awkward position to be in when you don't want to offend either one of the couple...

Breaking up is hard to fake

Advantages: Some amusing scenes, most people should be able to relate to it at least in part
Disadvantages: Lags a bit script wise in the middle, its not all funny

...Note: Review for movie not DVD. ■The Movie■ The concept of the film was very simple a happy couple together enjoying life with one and other and then one day, something gets out of hand and they fall out, the break up, the end. Done. Review Over. ■The Story But of course it's not as simple as that! The film starts with a little clip of the two meeting followed by a lot of photo shots of their happy two years together so there's no wasting time really before the main plot of the film gets put into place which is good. ...This film had a great write up and was surrounded by a lot of media hype, so it was a film that I had to see to see if it lived up to all the hype. I personally thought it was a good film, but I would not say that it is in my favourite film list. This film stars Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn, Jennifer plays Brooke the girlfriend of Vince Vaughn who plays Gary where they decide to end their relationship after a dinner party, unfortunately neither of them wants to give up the condo, so they do what any separated couple would do and share it. Where they then with the help of their friends go on winding each other up mentally so one of them has to leave the condo, Brooke invites over dates, Gary inviting over strippers and moving in a pool table. Advantages: Better than the first book...
Disadvantages: But not by much.

...rate a book such, but Penny Smith's debut Coming Up Next was fully deserving of that rating. I only read until the end so I could review it and warn other people about it, so I'm not sure what I was thinking when I got the follow up to that book from the library, After The Break. Penny is a well-known TV personality, presenting the news and other features on breakfast TV show GMTV, and this is echoed in the book with the lead character Katie presenting her own breakfast time show. Clearly it's not an original idea and didn't need much inspiration but I was hoping that it was going to be better than the awful debut, although it wouldn't have taken much to beat that. As I said, the character of Katie was also the lead in Penny's first book, so if you haven't read that one first, well done. Honestly, you haven't missed that much if you...

Disadvantages: Letting go of an old life is hard

...It doesn't matter how it happens, you can know its coming or not, it doesn't matter if you tried to do it but couldn't quite go through with it, it doesn't matter if it's a total shock - there is nothing like that moment of "I've been thinking.." followed by however its said, but essentially words meaning we need to break up. For the first week, or day, or hour (if you are really tough!) there's nothing you can do to make it better. Nothing. You are going to feel like the world is ending. Just ride that out, a different place is just around the corner. What I wish I had've done.. The hardest thing in the world is not contacting them. And the easiest thing in the world is making an excuse for contacting them. "But he has my book and I desperately need it" etc etc. On several occasions I did contact him, and we saw each other...

Breaking up is never easy...

Advantages: Sometimes it is the best thing to do...
Disadvantages: It hurts...

...few weeks then he'd start getting all worried that he'd rushed into a new relationship too quickly and blamed himself for his break-up and we'd call things off. Well, for at least a day anyway and then we'd patch things up and off we went again. They say opposites attract and I have to say that was the only justification for Les and I got together. 12 years older than me, quiet, sporty - he was the total opposite of me and we didn't really have very much in common but somehow we also seemed to make time fly and slowly but surely started to find things we both enjoyed doing and the relationship bloomed. We did everything together - holidays, watching Liverpool at Anfield, travelling round the country for his triathlons, meals out, in fact we were inseperable. It is only now looking back that I realise the relationship that bloomed...
