Prior to our trip to Dubai in January 2011 I have only ever been to Dubai as a transit passenger and you cannot fail to be impressed with the opulence and grandeur of the place. However our recent experience at arrivals has dimmed this view somewhat.

Advantages: So much to do without costing a fortune. Disadvantages: Too hot to visit between June and September.

Advantages: Plenty of Shopping Disadvantages: Never enough time
...Dubai Airport is one of my favourites - providing there is plenty of time to appreciate all it has to offer.
Travelling into Dubai - Be prepared for a lot of walking - the exit seems miles away from the plane! There are moving walkways to help make the distance shorter, and if you are elderly, there is a buggy which drives along the walkways to save your feet.
