Holly don't go.
Review of Breakfast At Tiffany's (Wide Screen) by
KathrynPowell
Advantages: Classic, a bit of everything
Disadvantages: Mickey Rooney playing (very badly) the Chinese neighbour.
...I think I first heard of Breakfast at Tiffany’s because it was mentioned in a popular song back in the 90s. Yes, I realize how pathetic that is, but please don’t look down on me for it. I was just a daft kid with very little concern for things that took place before. Anyway, I liked the song, and I bought the CD.
I’ve since acquired a taste for the classics, however, and I decided that it was absolutely mandatory for me to finally watch the infamous Breakfast at Tiffany’s. And I loved it even more than I once loved the song by the same name.
Audrey Hepburn stars, (the part was originally written for Marilyn Monroe), as Holly Golightly, a beautiful young woman who doesn’t seem to have a care in the world. She earns a living by dating rich men and bringing “weather reports” to a jailed gangster -– and she lives in a barely...

Cat where Are You Cat CONTAINS MANY SPOILERS
Review of Breakfast At Tiffany's - Truman Capote by
JayHall1991
Advantages: Vivid Charectors
Disadvantages: Short
...This review may spoil the ending, as this review contains many spoilers.
Breakfast At Tiffany's is a wonderful movie, one full of cheerfulness, hope and sincerity. The book however is a much darker, more controversial and sinister look into the life of the fabulous Holly Golightly.
The Story:
Holly Golightly is a carefree, happy-go-lucky call girl. Who is an amazing Socialite. However her life is turned around when she meets who she calls ‘Fred’ a calm calculated writer, who always realise on the facts, and is not used to the high society life. How would two people so different meet? Well they live in the same apartment. At first they only see each other in the corridor, and bump into each other around town. But they start to get more and more friendly. So ‘Fred’ becomes involved in Holly’s life, and they have a great time going...

My Favourite Film
Review of Breakfast At Tiffany's (Wide Screen) by
flamegirl
Advantages: Audrey Hepburn; the supporting cast; the score
Disadvantages: The character of Mr Yunioshi
...Breakfast At Tiffany's is my fabourite film. I say favourite, rather than best, because it is one of those films I just love, and so I can't be completely objective about it!
I will get the flaws out of the way first so I can get with the gushing. The film is taken from the novella of the same name by Truman Capote, and is very much more soft-centred than the original material. Some viewers have been critical of the way the book was adapted, particularly the way in which the ending was changed. I personally find it more rewarding to see the two pieces as completely separate, and I feel the ending is appropriate to the spirit of the film.
It is much more straightforward to state that the characterization of Mr Yunioshi (Mickey Rooney) descends to unpleasant, dated stereotyping and isn't even funny. Fortunately 'Breakfast...

Dont We All Just Want To Go To Tiffanys
Review of Breakfast At Tiffany's (Wide Screen) by
JayHall1991
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: Nothing
...I know that this has all been said before, but Breakfast at Tiffanies is just so BEAUTIFUL. The setting, the script, the actors, EVERYTHING about this movie is just perfect, now I’m not a great one for Romantic Comedies, but this film is just a classic The premise of the story is that a struggling writer meets up with a ambitious socialite, there is instantly some spark, but any chance of romance seems to be squashed when each party seem to be involved with diffrn't people... I think that Audrey Hepburn really does illuminate the screen as Holly Golightly the ever ambitious socialite, her portrayal of a otherwise unlikable charecter is quite remarkable as she takes her role in so many directions in such a short amount of time. The story is predictable yes, but it is done in such an un clished way that you can forgive it's unoriginality...

A one-trick pony.... With a limp and a squint....
Review of Home - Deep Blue Something by
skipperdave
Advantages: Classic 90s indie...
Disadvantages: But is not aging well.
...Those coming to this album hoping to hear similar tracks to the early 90s hit Breakfast at Tiffany's will only leave disappointed; this is the only song like it, the others are completely different!
The other 11 tracks on the album have a completely contrary feel, being angst filled and dark; a stark contrast to the upbeat (almost cheesy) sounds of Tiffany's.
These tracks are not poor, they just have nothing about them that stands out. They appear to be padding for the main hit; a a method to carry their single success into the album market.
The main song cannot be criticised though. It was a success for a reason, being a great indie theme with a fantastic light guitar riff keeping it positive and catchy. It is well layered, and the vocals suit it perfectly; it most definitely hooks you. However, the track does not have the weight...

Never tired of Tiffanys
Review of Breakfast At Tiffany's (Wide Screen) by
dancingfishes
Advantages: Great feel-good factor. Totally timeless
Disadvantages: None
...There must be few of you out there that haven’t heard of “Breakfast at Tiffanys”. But how many of you have actually watched it? If you haven’t, then I urge you to. It’s a magical, delightful and timeless film that will be enjoyed over and over again. The film was made in 1961 and was based on a book by Truman Capote. I’m afraid that I’ve not read the book so I can’t comment on how faithful the film adheres to the original storyline. All I know is that for years and years after first seeing this film - I wanted to be Audrey Hepburn. And who could blame me - in this film she is georgeous.
Essentially the plot is simple – Audrey Hepburn plays Holly Golightly, a high-priced escort with dreams of marrying an older, rich man. She isn't wealthy but she likes to pretend to be. She parties...

*miss golightly and her social wings*
Review of Breakfast At Tiffany's - Truman Capote by
blondestar
Advantages: *miss golightly*
Disadvantages: *did not make for perfect reading*
...‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ is almost certainly one of the most well known novels of its time. Truman Capote’s use of charisma and bizarre charm allow its readers to become completely enveloped in the false, pretentious world of its characters and situations. His particular use of words, and illogical use of time and realm of fantasy makes ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’, a novel that explores a reader’s imagination and allows them to enter into the fantasy that Capote is trying to give to the readers.
The main character in the novel, ‘Miss Holly Golightly’ is portrayed by Capote, as an almost exquisite well bred young woman, whom is living a life of luxury in the up-tempo New York. It soon becomes clear however when reading further into the novel, that ‘Holly’ is by no stretch of the imagination the breezy, life of luxury woman we first...

No Breakfast at Tiffany's
Review of Tiffany & Co (Shop) by
Tempus_Fugit
Advantages: beautiful jewellery, beautiful surroundings
Disadvantages: inflated prices, you pay for the Tiffany name, lots of tourists just looking
...What would a visit in New York be without a visit at the Tiffany & Co flagship store on Fifth Avenue. Situated next to Trump Tower at the corner of 5th Ave and 57th Street. The outside of the building will not give much away of what you are about to experience when inside. There are two entrances to the store, the main entrance in 5th Avenue with doorman to help you open the door or push the carousel door for you and a smaller door in 57th Street, more a side entrance where you can slip in and out unseen.
Enter through the main doors to get the total wow effect. You are in a totally different world. In front of you lies a very large hall for a jewellery store with enormously high ceilings and hanging lights.
You instantly get the feeling that this store will not have anything you can afford without taking out a second mortgage on your...

...Breakfast at Tiffany's - Truman Capote
It all depends how old you are: For me, breakfast at Tiffany's used to be that annoyingly catchy song that was popular a few years ago. For my parents, it's a film made several decades ago with Audrey Hepburn. For people older than that, Breakfast at Tiffany's is a book. Well I've gone and read it so I'm here to tell you all about it. . . . . . This is one of those books (Steinbeck's Cannery Row being another example) that rely so heavily on character and wit that plot is hardly necessary - in this case it appears to have been something of an afterthought. The book is simply the reminiscence of a man about his acquaintance with someone known as Holly Golightly - An energetic and eccentric young woman whose life is a non-stop whirl of drunken all-night parties. Despite her popularity and exciting...
