...I have found myself turning to the nutri-grain packet now that I have a baby and have no time to sit down and make myself cereal or toast in the mornings anymore. I often wonder whether they are actually that filling for me and whether I could find something more substantial although they're tasty what do they actually contain? And is it good enough to set me up for the day? ...When this product finally hit the UK I was so excited: the Atkins diet really only allows for such snacks as a bit of cheese or meat – not very practical if you are commuting on the train or bus. At last! Something I could pop in my handbag! Now all the Atkins-ers out there have the option of breakfast on the run, saving time in the early morning rush. Personally I welcomed it most of all as I was fed up of fry-ups every morning. The bars are very expensive: £4.99 for a box of 5 (cf Alpen bars £1.49 for 6), which works out at a staggering £1 a bar. ...With two young children, mornings are a bit of a rush in our house and I don't very often get a chance to sit down to a 'proper' breakfast, quite often I tend to grab a cuppa and a cereal bar while am blow drying my hair. I have been eating Kellogg's Nutri Grain bars for ages but it was only recently that I spotted this yoghurt version. These bars come in a white rectangular box with a picture of a giant strawberry on the front that is splashing into a pool of what looks more like strawberry milkshake than yoghurt, we also see one of the bars cut in two with a couple of ears of corn. ...I've tried most of the cereal bars that there are around but these are by far the best ones. They are made by Mars and come in boxes of 8 bars for around £1.55. Each bar weighs 26g. Which works out 75p per 100 grams and you can buy them in the supermarket, I know that Tesco sell them because that's where I get mine. It is made up of strawberry pieces, oat flakes, corn flakes and crisped rice and contains calcium and Vitamin C great for growing kids (and adults!) and with no nuts they are suitable for children. The packaging is very noticable being red (for strawberries) and white with the famous "Tracker" logo. It is made by Masterfoods which are a subsidiary of "Mars". The Mighty Mars Bar

...This is perhaps the most classic chocolate bar from my childhood. It has long been my favourite as a kid and I sort of have to say it still is so as not to feel as if I have disowned it (sorry Mars Bar but I have found other favourites - I still love you though!). 'A Mars a day helps you work rest and play' - this was the little catchphrase that was associated with Mars Bar. Funny really; it's like saying a chocolate bar a day is good for you. The slogan has now changed to 'Pleasure you can't measure' which definitely seems more appropriate. A standard Mars bar comes at 58g, about 11cm long and 1.8cm high.
