I found the other restaurant at the far end of the hotel and had an uninspired and overpriced meal in which two courses and a diet coke put me dangerously close to my expenses limit without really filling me up. I've never bothered to try breakfast because, after the debacle with the other non-restaurant, I couldn't figure out where I was supposed to find it. The hotel apparently has other facilities like a pool and conference rooms and a walkway that links it to the exhibition centre nearby but I've not used any of these. It also offers over-priced internet access thats quite resistable. In summary, there's nothing wrong with this hotel but there are so many other hotels in Bremen that it really needs to try harder if it's going to ever fill its rooms. Bauhaus Style Beside the River

Advantages: Great location on a sunny day, good quality food
Disadvantages: Dishes are really a bit TOO big for lunchtime.

...I go to Bremen frequently and have visited this restaurant twice and know I'll be taken there again as it's a favourite of one of my contacts in the city. Whilst this review refers to my first visit in spring 2009, the second was every bit as good and it does seem to be a very dependable choice if you are in the area. It was probably my own fault for leaving the booking so late and was not helped by the travel agent 'forgetting' to make a booking. With the Intercity full, I was sent to the Mercure. I had seen the hotel from the outside many times as it's on the Bahnhofplatz, directly opposite the main entrance to the station. Seen from outside the main impression is that this is a big hotel - stretching right from the corner across several shops and bars. My expectation based on too many nights in Accor-group hotels is that anything less than Novotel in the Accor-family is likely to be pretty poor. In the case of the Intercity in Bremen, neither of these situations is true - it's not an architectural gem and it's not a sleazy dive either. What you get is a very nice, clean, modern hotel that's right next to the city's very attractive red-brick hauptbahnhof and right in front of the bus and tram station. As you can imagine, this isn't going to be the quietest hotel you've ever stayed in and if you open the windows, you will get a lot of noise. But with the windows closed it's not at all bad and since the aircon works in summer - not something you can take for granted in Northern Germany - you can easily live with the windows closed. Dinner at the Museum - not as daft as it sounds

Advantages: The food and service are great, the portions are enormous and the prices are good.
Disadvantages: Don't order too much or you'll never finish.

...Strange as it might seem, when I visit the German town of Bremen, my favourite place to eat is at the Ubersee Restaurant, located on the ground floor of the Ubersee Museum. It's not just me - the colleagues in our local office always seem to choose to eat there too whenever there are visitors in town. For me and other visiting colleagues, there are two really good reasons that we like the Ubersee; its location is really close to both the hotel where we most often stay and to the office and the meals are great value for money. Even when times are tough and the pound is really weak against the euro, nobody in the accounts department will be able to quibble over a bill from the Ubersee. ...I visited Bremen on a German Exchange with the school. As we drove into the city we were all astouded by the sheer size of the place. My pen pal was right "es ist eine sehr grosse stadt!!" With its picturesque appearance Bremen is truly a lovely city. The town centre boasts a huge station with the best trains i have ever travelled on. Their seats are so comfy and the trains are scarily quiet! The tram systems are superb and they come so regularly it is amazing how quick you can get somewhere.
