Breville JK73 kettle

Advantages: Boils water, the some what keep warm function, lights up blue when boiling.
Disadvantages: The lid flicks hot water if just been boild when opening.

...I bought this kettle 3 years ago from Argos well actually 3 and a half years ago when I was looking to buy my first home, all very exciting stuff,i believe i paid around £35 for this kettle. So to start off this is a very reliable kettle considering it has been going for 3 years now and to think I was going to throw it away for the all new 3second kettle, when mine is perfectly functioning and still probably going to be around for another few years. It is really just a normal every day kettle except when you press the button to boil the kettle this kettle lights up blue and then switches off once it has finished boiling. A few negatives about this kettle I have are the fact that after the kettle has been boiled and you want to fill it back up for something else, the lid sort of flips open which I think is a pretty silly design...

...I purchased this jug kettle early in 2008, and at first was very pleased with it. I'd previously listed all the features I wanted in a jug kettle, and this ticked all my boxes. It's cordless, fast-boiling, easy to see water-level, the lid opens easily for cleaning. It has a 360 degree base for left-handed or right-handed use, concealed element inside making it easier to clean, and automatic cut-off. I hadn't wanted to spend over £20, and this was £16.99 in Robert Dyas. I'd wanted a white jug, which this is, and the gentle blue light which glows from the window while it's switched on, I find very pleasing. It's 1.7 litre capacity, and the measures on the window indicate cups, the minimum being 2 cups, and the max is 8. I have one small niggle, and that is that I would have preferred the measurements to be in litres, but...

Disadvantages: Get dirty easily and if you use the filter it needs changing regularly!

...This kettle is very attractive and is pretty to look at - it illuminates when it's boiling and gives off a very bright electric blue light. It also has a keep warm feature which makes the illuminating panel turn red. There is a 'memo feature' on the top of the kettle which indicates when the Brita filter needs changing - if you use this regularly this is usually every 3 - 4 weeks. We don't actually use the Brita filter on our kettle as we don't really tend to drink plain water however it is handy to have it there if it is needed. This kettle acts as a two-in-one because you can either use is solely as a kettle, solely as a water filter or both! The kettle contains a 3kW fast boil element and has a boiling capacity of 1.25 litres and a total capacity of 2 litres. There is an auto-shut off as well which insures that the kettle never boils...

3RD BREVILLE KETTLE TO FAIL

...This is the 3rd yes 3rd Breville kettle I have had that has failed in some way. The lid opening mechanism started to get stuck, then eventually, it just flew apart exposing some wiring and preventing you from opening the lid, leaving you trying to fill the kettle through the spout. Before that I had another high spec Breville Stainless kettle and the base failed, sometimes making connection, sometimes not and it used to make quite nasty sparky type electrical noises during that time, so believing it dangerous I replaced it. Before that I had Breville Lightning jug kettle (JK82?) (a white one) and the body of the kettle discouloured to a cream, then began cracking and crazing. After weeks of complaining, Breville reluctantly replaced it. So that 3 kettles, all frankly failed badly, so what more can I say to you!...

...Last month our trusty kettle broke and so my husband was sent out to buy another one. Liking gadgets and gimmicks he came back with the Breville Spectra Keep Warm system kettle. The number one gimmick with this kettle is that it changes colour whilst it is on standby, a soft ever changing illumination. To me this looks kind of cool and funky when it is on the kitchen shelf. The kettle has see through plastic on the spout, half of the handle and on a little button on the front that says Breville and this is where it changes colour. The colours are fairly bright and do light up the room if no lights are on. The colours change from orange, to red, to purple, to blue to green and to yellow and then follow the pattern again. Advantages: Soft feel handle, fast boil and easy clean stainless steel.
Disadvantages: Fiddly filler top, Noisy and fiddly to fit filter.

...The Breville kt17 electric kettle " classique " is classed as a traditional style. 3KW fast boil which it definitely is. 1.7 litre capacity with rear water gauge window which is easy to read. Inside there is a bright red full marker limit. Concealed heater element as all kettles with this system seems to be very noisy. If its next to a radio you won't be able to hear it , unless you turn up it real loud .The best part of the concealed element system is its good for hard water areas. The lid is a bit stiff to remove but i found you can fill the kettle though the spout but very slowly. The stainless steel is easy to clean the outside. Inside the removable filter is fiddly to replace after cleaning with a soft bush i.e tooth brush.
