Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 (PS2)

400 Not Out...!
Review of Brian Lara Cricket (PC) by
dodgydutchman
Advantages: Awesome GamePlay
Disadvantages: Dodgy Graphics
...Brian Lara Cricket on the PC is now over 5 years old and is still in my view the best cricketing game out! thank God Codemasters are bringing out a new 'Brian Lara International Cricket' game which is to be expected sometime in June. Brian Lara boasts 7 Tournament types, 15 International Teams, Over 240 Players, 46 Stadiums, Classic Matches, Variable Weather and Expert Commentary from Geoff Boycott and Jonathan Agnew. The graphics aren't exactly the best in the world, but this is definetly made up in the GamePlay department! i still play this game with my friends till this day and i still destroy them! i have Cricket 2004 but that is nothing compared to Brian Lara! ofcourse the graphics are better but that is about it! the only thing that i would have loved to see on Brian Lara is the chance to play a season with County Teams. I can tell...

As good as Lara himself!
Review of Brian Lara Cricket (PC) by
AS457
Advantages: Always fun
Disadvantages: None
...Brian Lara cricket is the best cricket game on the playstation and PC. It has fairly decent graphics, good game play and is not too demanding on your PC. It has all the international teams and features all the major tournaments. The only flaw is that it does not feature county sides. It is also very good because of the realism in the game; it has all the players looking similar to them in real life. It also has different types of bowlers. The only other problem is that some good players are missing but it is always exciting to play!...

Cricket All The Way
Review of Cricket 2004 (PS2) by
Tom150990
Advantages: lots of different match modes including ODIs and test matches
Disadvantages: gets repetitive and comemtary is not very good
...Cricket 2004 is the best cricket game around although there is not much competition around at the moment. the graphics are quite good but could be improved, the gameplay is quite good becuase there are lots of different match modes including ODIs and test matches and you can play a season in county cricket however the gameplay does get repetitve after a while but you should be able to get at least 25 hrs of gameplay. another good thing about this game is that you can create your own cricket player and you can use practise nets to improve your bowling and batting skills, in the practise nets is you get advice from a commentator but it gets annoying becuase he keeps saying the same things and just gives batting advice not bowling. as cricket games go this is probably the best game on the market but in the summer of 2005 brian lara cricket...

Brian Lara cricket 2005
Review of Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 (X-Box) by
Jackasssurfing
Advantages: fun and challenging
Disadvantages: Graphics, commentry and replays
...Well where can I start?
I purchesed this game pre owned for around 12 pounds, and it was a fairly good buy.
As i enjoy cricket, I naturally enjoy playing the game on the Xbox.
The teams and stadiums and game play you can select from give a factual and realistic choice, giving a longish ( time can be set ) and enjoyable game, both mulitiplayer or single player.
However the downside of the game lies within the commentry and the instant replay.
It is all extremely repetative and after every shot, an instant replay, lasting for around 30 seconds, is shown.
This is incredably tedious to sit through, especialy for my younger brother who I normally play against.
The game can be played by all ages, and if you are interested in cricket and are patient, I recommend it.
However, if you are challanged to sit through continous replays and commentry...

Stick with Brian Lara...
Review of Cricket 2000 (PSX) by
Lowlife
Advantages: Honestly, none
Disadvantages: It doesn't feel like cricket in any way
...'Brian Lara's Cricket' was a big, surprise hit on the PlayStation last year. As a cricket fan I was hooked on it for some time, despite its infamous and numerous bugs. I was thus looking forward to EA Sports' stab at converting leather and willow to pixel and joypad.
A whole year on from the Lara game, I figured this release would make bold steps forward from that title. Instead it stays rooted to the crease and is out for a duck.
It is almost impossible to think of praise for this game - the graphics are perfectly okay but nothing more, the commentary is far less varied and entertaining than Geoff Boycott's ramblings on 'Lara' and there are fewer game options. Unforgivably, you cannot even see the position of fielders when you are trying to bat. But most of all the game simply doesn't 'capture' cricket in the indefinable way...

Best cricket game available, but...
Review of Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 (X-Box) by
sghosh
Advantages: Fast paced Arcade style action
Disadvantages: Total lack of realism, can become monotonous
...Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 leaves off from the previous installment, Brian Lara Cricket 99. The game features correct rosters for official tournaments (ie, for world cup 2003 and champions trophy, the squad lists are what they really were) but contain fake names and faces for exhibition and unofficial games. Kits are also either out of date (official tournaments) or fake.
The game itself is fun to play at first. Bowling contains all sorts of different abilities such as cutters, yorkers and bouncers for pace bowlers, and all sorts of deliveries for spinners, such as googlies, flippers, and doosras.
Batting is simple: Time the ball correctly (within the timing window) and the ball will be hit with maximum force. If it was a normal shot, then it will travel as fast as possible along the ground, if it was hit with the 6 hit...

Review of 400 Not Out! - Brian Lara's World Record Innings DVD by
gurji123
Advantages: Great presentation,in-depth analysis, extra footage
Disadvantages: more for seasoned cricket fan
...for casual cricket fans. Other than that this is a true recount of the innings.
OVERALL: Well worth a look for cricket fans although not for the casual fan as it can get a little long. This is a more biographic stance on Brian Lara as such will be for more seasoned cricket fans. A solid buy for any cricket fan looking to add to their collection....

No competition
Review of Brian Lara Cricket (PC) by
smokin_66
Advantages: Great fun to play
Disadvantages: Needs more teams
...The original series of Brian Lara Cricket was a classic. It had all the players, teams, series. When I heard there was a new version coming, I was absolutely overjoyed. The chance to play my favourite cricket teams in glorious 3D with all of the knobs and bells.
After finally getting the game, I played it. The controls were easy, I set up a training session for a quick play about with the bat. The graphics hit you like a smack in the face from the ball itself, you feel like you're actually watching cricket on TV, the camera shots make everything see real, and the players act like it too. Warming up, jumping about, tapping the crease etc. The only problem, NO COUNTY TEAMS! The one things that made the original Brian Lara Cricket unique was having all the county teams and competitions.
Then I found a website which had an update on it...

Not Exactly Bowled Over
Review of Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 (PS2) by
alexthegreat
Advantages: Quick loading times, autoplay feature, easily navigateable.
Disadvantages: Too easy batting, terrible music, custom player mode poor, too similar to last game.
...My first impressions of the latest installment of the Brian Lara Cricket series was very good. The overall layout looks much better. But that changed when I was playing on it for a few minutes. I'll start with the music. It was terrible really. Just one song played over and over and it was a rubbish one at that. But I did try my best to ignore that and carry on with playing the game. I was really quite annoyed that there wasn't the same create a player mode as in the 2005 version. I had hoped it would be the same, where you earn points playing for any team you like and you earned a different amount of points depending on amounts of runs scored etc. Unfortunately that wasnt there at all. You couldn't even play as your player in normal international matches. That was one of my favourite features with the last game so I was dissapointed...

Best Cricket Sim to Date
Review of Cricket 2004 (PS2) by
lukesblues
Advantages: Fully licensed English & Australian County Cricket Teams, Easy Controls, ability to select your own squad form a huge database
Disadvantages: Commentry is sometime irrelevant
...Firstly I would like to start off by saying EA Sports Cricket 2004 is the best Cricket game ever released, beating even Codemasters classic in 'Brian Lara Cricket'. The 2004 game is a good update from the previous 2002 version with several new features.
Features
• All English County Cricket teams with there correct grounds. You have the ability to either play the county championship season starting from either divisions 1 or 2 or from the 2003 season.
• You can also play the one day National League, Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy as individual events or if you have the patience, you may want to select a full season mode where all the tournaments named above get played throughout one season.
• Fully licensed Australian county cricket is also available.
There are many options of tournaments and matches on the International scene...
