The Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton
Advantages: great location, cheap, nice rooms, excellent food
Disadvantages: no parking, quite dated
...Introduction to the hotel:
The Royal Albion Hotel was built in 1826 and is situated in a fantastic location opposite Brighton pier. It is a three star hotel and has 186 guest rooms offering views of Brighton beach or the town centre.
My experience of the hotel:
I spent one night in the hotel in January of this year and for a three star hotel I was quite impressed. I and my girlfriend booked a double room for £55 and it was a spacious room with a four poster bed, couch, satellite television, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a lovely modern bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath. When we checked in the hotel staff asked us if we would like to upgrade to a room with a Jacuzzi batch for £10, we said no, but were a bit intrigued to find one anyways - they had obviously given our room away and were trying to get the extra £10 out...

A solid Brighton Hotel
Advantages: Great views if you have a seafront room
Disadvantages: Bathroom a little lacking
...This was a good hotel to stay at if in Brighton but make sure you get a good deal because I don't think it's worth it at full price.
It is not as glam as The Grand nor Metropole a few hundred yards up the street but does boast equally wonderful sea views. We were in room 201 and got a great deal staying the Sunday night only. The room had beautiful large bay windows overlooking the sea and remains of the destroyed pier. It was glorious to wake up to. The room itself was of a decent size although the bed was a little on the narrow side for the two of us.
A few things to note on the downside: our room did have a big stain on the carpet and the bathrooms leave a little to be desired. They are very basic and the shower only reached a warm temperature while at full heat but never got hot.
I think had we paid full price (which I...

Buzzing Brighton
Advantages: Central Location
Disadvantages: Better Hotels About
...Recently syaing in the Royal Albion hotel on business i found the hotel to be relatively okay.
Arriving at the hotel, there is one problem that hits you, no parking, the nearest NCP is ten minutes walk away and cost £30 for three days and when you are lugging overnight gear and everything it is a bit of a trek.
The hotel itself is very old fashioned however very clean too. The room was pleasant, however very dull as their was not much light as there was a small window in the downstairs area. The room had an upstairs section which was very bright, with living area and a larger television.
Bathroom was nice, spa bath made it easy to relax whilst in the room, maids cleaned everyday and was relatively satisfactory.
The bar area was spacious and easy to get served. Large windows overlooked the pier, but they did look like they...

Great Value 3-Star Hotel
Advantages: Highly recommended 3-star Dublin hotel handy for the city centre
Disadvantages: Not a lot!
...Bewley's Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, is arguably the best value 3-star Dublin hotel within spitting distance of the city centre. At a set price of a mere Euro109 per room per night (due to increase to Euro119 from 1st April 2008) Bewley's Ballsbridge is extremely good value for money.
The maximum number of guests per room is two. This means that for just under Euro60 per person you get a good standard 3-star hotel room, with all the usual 3-star amenities like an ensuite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, TV, hair dryer, in-room safe, etc. An added bonus at Bewleys is that you also get free internet access (broadband) in all rooms and in all public areas using their wireless internet LAN.
Family rooms are also available that will comfortably sleep two adults and three kids. (Kids are free...

Great base in Brighton
Advantages: Location, price
Disadvantages: Parking, needs updating
...on the outside.
The location of this hotel is right opposite the main pier on the roundabout, so you just have stroll across the street to the pier and about a 10 minute walk to the shops, Lanes and Pavilion. We knew in advance from walking past (and most hotels in Brighton have no parking) that there was no car park, so we rang up and asked them if they had an agreement with any of the NCP's. They did with the Russell Road NCP which is a good 10 minute walk away, but only £9 for 24 hour so this is good value. They give you a ticket when you check out that you insert after your original one, so when we put our 1st ticket in the machine wanted £45 but after the second one only £21, which is a great saving. There are a few pay & display parking spaces outside but it is £6 for 2 hours, so very pricey.
We arrived at the hotel at 3pm and there...

Handy, Well Located 3 Star Hotel
Advantages: Well located 3 Star budget hotel. Fairly cheap by Dublin standards.
Disadvantages: Not a lot!
...The Mespil Hotel is located on the Royal Canal on Mespil Road in Ballsbridge, only about 15 minutes walk from St. Stephen's Green and Grafton Street (the two main shopping areas of the city) and about 20 minutes from O'Connell Street and the Temple Bar area.
In a previous incarnation the Mespil was a large office block that housed the Irish Blood Transfusion Service. The transformation to a hotel took place in the early 1990's, and has been achieved successfully. (I was dubious when I first heard of the proposal!)
There's nothing special about the Mespil, but at in or around Euro100 per night, and with some special deals on offer if you book over the Internet, it would be a good, comfortable, 3 star hotel budget hotel for anyone either on a business trip or a short weekend break to Dublin. If you're planning a longer stay then...

Not a high Quality Hotel
Advantages: Great location, great breakfast
Disadvantages: Needs a refurb in bedroom areas - urgently!
...at the end of the day, this may not meet your expectations as a Hotel.
The rating of the Hotel is three star, but I am unclear as to the significance of the rating and what has to be done to achieve this, don?t get me wrong I am not questioning the rating the Hotel has, but do not understand how rooms that are at the bottom line grubby can have this rating. Although I can only presume it is done on facilities offered. That said if a bit of paint here and there and a new carpet was laid I would definitely go back there again. If I was to have another weekend in Brighton, this would be one the list but would be a probable instead of a definite. The Hotel does genuinely have a good feel and a pleasant ambiance as well as showing a high level of good customer service to it and it goes without saying that you do a get a good nights sleep. It is...

Queens Brighton and Brighton Queens
Advantages: Seafront Location, Extremely Well Priced
Disadvantages: Refurb Work Being Done, Overly Warm, No Internet Access
...So, I'm sat here having been tasked with performing a full hardware audit at our parent company's various sites spread throughout the UK. Oh the exciting life I lead! The Brighton office is one of the larger ones and as such, required an overnight stay in the seaside resort of Brighton.
So, preamble over, I checked into the hotel having spent pretty much a whole day on the train to get down there.
Greeted by an almost entirely eastern European staff, my suspicions were raised. Previous experience has suggested that budget, mediocre hotels are often run poorly by eastern Europeans. I only paid £59 for my bed and breakfast stay at the hotel.
In any case, check in was smooth and I was given my big old fashioned key to my room and told that it was on the third floor down a miriad of corridors.
I was shocked to say the least...

Pricey hotel by the sea.
Advantages: Fabulous views, decor, function room, disabled facilities
Disadvantages: "Casual" staff, inconsistent drinks prices, cheap loo paper!
...Just returned from a weekend at the Seattle hotel in Brighton and feel Ishould share my views thoughts and comments on my stay there.
Not only have I been I guest there but also attended a function in their function suite, performed there as an artist (at the function) and partaken in a few drinks in their residents bar, called the Black and White Bar.
Here are my thoughts on the hotel and its service.
Location.
Wonderful marina side location with terrific views of the boats in the harbour. It is easily accessible by car and has an adjacent car park where you can park for free if a resident (use level 6 if a hotel resident).
Surrounded by a variety of nightlife and restaurants, it is a great place to be in the evening. However it is about 2 miles from the town of Brighton itself.
Staff.
All very friendly and helpful, if...

Brighton Rocks in The Lanes
Advantages: great location, friendly & knowledgable
Disadvantages: car parking & breakfast!!
...I had to attend a conference in Brighton recently, so hubby and I decided to treat ourselves and stay a few extra days, do some shopping and generally 'chill' out from work.
We choose the Thistle due to cost and availability really - many of the hotels on the travel website we use were fully booked or looked in need of paint and repair. This was advertised as being close to The Lanes and numerous restaurants as well as being sea front based.
LOCATION
The Thistle is a glass fronted, modern looking hotel, situated approx 200 yards from Brighton Pier, directly on the seafront.
I say modern looking, because most of the other hotels nearby were the old Victorian style, so the Thistle stood out somewhat!!!
Directly behind this hotel is The Lanes and various restaurants - so it really is close to all amenities as advertised...
