The Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton

Advantages: great location, cheap, nice rooms, excellent food
Disadvantages: no parking, quite dated

...a great service with a smile. The only downside was that the tables were a bit too close together, but this wasn't that big a problem. I have read a number of reviews about the Royal Albion and some have been not to complentary about it, complaing the décor was very dated and their stay was quite unpleasant. I however disagree with these views and thought the hotel to be perfectly adequate for a stay in Brighton. The location was excellent, the room nice and the food on offer was splendid. I would certainly recommend it and will be staying there again on my next trip to the south coast. The only problem with the hotel was that it doesn't have its own car park which would be a problem for elderly guests as it's a ten minute walk to the nearest car park and the parking is quite expensive, however this is a minor issue really. For a three star...

A solid Brighton Hotel

Advantages: Great views if you have a seafront room
Disadvantages: Bathroom a little lacking

...This was a good hotel to stay at if in Brighton but make sure you get a good deal because I don't think it's worth it at full price. It is not as glam as The Grand nor Metropole a few hundred yards up the street but does boast equally wonderful sea views. We were in room 201 and got a great deal staying the Sunday night only. The room had beautiful large bay windows overlooking the sea and remains of the destroyed pier. It was glorious to wake up to. The room itself was of a decent size although the bed was a little on the narrow side for the two of us. A few things to note on the downside: our room did have a big stain on the carpet and the bathrooms leave a little to be desired. They are very basic and the shower only reached a warm temperature while at full heat but never got hot. I think had we paid full price (which I...

Buzzing Brighton

Advantages: Central Location
Disadvantages: Better Hotels About

...Recently syaing in the Royal Albion hotel on business i found the hotel to be relatively okay. Arriving at the hotel, there is one problem that hits you, no parking, the nearest NCP is ten minutes walk away and cost £30 for three days and when you are lugging overnight gear and everything it is a bit of a trek. The hotel itself is very old fashioned however very clean too. The room was pleasant, however very dull as their was not much light as there was a small window in the downstairs area. The room had an upstairs section which was very bright, with living area and a larger television. Bathroom was nice, spa bath made it easy to relax whilst in the room, maids cleaned everyday and was relatively satisfactory. The bar area was spacious and easy to get served. Large windows overlooked the pier, but they did look like they...

Great base in Brighton

Advantages: Location, price
Disadvantages: Parking, needs updating

...on the outside. The location of this hotel is right opposite the main pier on the roundabout, so you just have stroll across the street to the pier and about a 10 minute walk to the shops, Lanes and Pavilion. We knew in advance from walking past (and most hotels in Brighton have no parking) that there was no car park, so we rang up and asked them if they had an agreement with any of the NCP's. They did with the Russell Road NCP which is a good 10 minute walk away, but only £9 for 24 hour so this is good value. They give you a ticket when you check out that you insert after your original one, so when we put our 1st ticket in the machine wanted £45 but after the second one only £21, which is a great saving. There are a few pay & display parking spaces outside but it is £6 for 2 hours, so very pricey. We arrived at the hotel at 3pm and there...

Overpriced, shabby Albion hotel?

Advantages: Bar area and location
Disadvantages: Needs updating, overpriced and parking

...I stayed at this hotel for two nights during the summer. I found it shabby and outdated. The cost was very high over £100 a night for a twin room. The parking is awful with an expensive car park 10 to 15 minutes down the road. The room was not totally double glazed and as a result you could hear everything going on outside in the early hours of the morning. When I complained the staff where friendly enough and smiled (they didn't speak much English!)but would not come up with any alternatives or refund any of my money. The bar area was fine and the bar food was good. I was surprised by the help yourself breakfast, I thought as it is an expensive hotel that we would be waited on but I was wrong. The room service menu was so basic as to be a joke. They had not real choice and were not prepared to do anything special for the customer...

Queens Brighton and Brighton Queens

Advantages: Seafront Location, Extremely Well Priced
Disadvantages: Refurb Work Being Done, Overly Warm, No Internet Access

...So, I'm sat here having been tasked with performing a full hardware audit at our parent company's various sites spread throughout the UK. Oh the exciting life I lead! The Brighton office is one of the larger ones and as such, required an overnight stay in the seaside resort of Brighton. So, preamble over, I checked into the hotel having spent pretty much a whole day on the train to get down there. Greeted by an almost entirely eastern European staff, my suspicions were raised. Previous experience has suggested that budget, mediocre hotels are often run poorly by eastern Europeans. I only paid £59 for my bed and breakfast stay at the hotel. In any case, check in was smooth and I was given my big old fashioned key to my room and told that it was on the third floor down a miriad of corridors. I was shocked to say the least...

Review of Queens Hotel, Brighton

Pricey hotel by the sea.

Advantages: Fabulous views, decor, function room, disabled facilities
Disadvantages: "Casual" staff, inconsistent drinks prices, cheap loo paper!

...Just returned from a weekend at the Seattle hotel in Brighton and feel Ishould share my views thoughts and comments on my stay there. Not only have I been I guest there but also attended a function in their function suite, performed there as an artist (at the function) and partaken in a few drinks in their residents bar, called the Black and White Bar. Here are my thoughts on the hotel and its service. Location. Wonderful marina side location with terrific views of the boats in the harbour. It is easily accessible by car and has an adjacent car park where you can park for free if a resident (use level 6 if a hotel resident). Surrounded by a variety of nightlife and restaurants, it is a great place to be in the evening. However it is about 2 miles from the town of Brighton itself. Staff. All very friendly and helpful, if...

Not a high Quality Hotel

Advantages: Great location, great breakfast
Disadvantages: Needs a refurb in bedroom areas - urgently!

...Hello and welcome, to my review about the Quality Hotel in Brighton. About a month ago, my good friend Rory called me to put forward some ideas as to what we could do for his Birthday, after about 20 minutes in deep discussion and rampant surfing we decided that it would be a laugh to go to Brighton for the entire weekend to celebrate his birthday. Therefore first things first we needed somewhere to stay. A quick search on Google showed us a number of hotels in Brighton that were within our budget, one of them being the Quality Hotel, so the prices they gave us were within our budget so we went ahead with the booking. ---Location--- The location of the Hotel is superb; it is at the lower end of West Street. For those who don?t know Brighton that well, West Street is the main street where there are a number of clubs, bars...

Brighton Rocks in The Lanes

Advantages: great location, friendly & knowledgable
Disadvantages: car parking & breakfast!!

.... ARRIVAL Finding the hotel was easy, parking was not!!! The car park the hotel uses is not signposted well - in fact, it has signs all over stating this is not for use by hotel guests!! However, that said, there is parking available directly under the hotel - charged at £15 per 24 hour period without in/out privileges - and an emergency drop off zone of 15 minutes, enabling you to go to reception to find out where parking is!!! (To be fair, finding the car park was the only hassle we had on arrival, and the entire break) Anyway, we dutifully walked up the stairs, which are approx 2 lots of 15 - 20 steps, (lift is available) to a large reception area, in muted creams, beiges and gold, with plenty of plants dotted about. It was quite busy when we arrived, as numerous conferences commencing in Brighton the next day, so we had...

Review of Thistle Hotel, Brighton

Right-On Hotel in Brighton.

Advantages: Excellent 4 star hotel banging on the door of 5 star status
Disadvantages: Not really worth mentioning.

...For those not in the know, Brighton is a bustling, ?happening? seaside town on the South Coast of England. It?s actually fairly famous for two things. Firstly, it?s generally considered to be the gay capital of England and if you?re heterosexual and, for whatever reason, unable to adopt a ?Live and Let Live? attitude, you might as well give it a very wide berth. Just remember that you?re a guest in their town. Its second claim to fame ? and this is somewhat more old-fashioned ? is as a destination for couples to enjoy a ?dirty weekend?. Not messing around in muck, you understand, but enjoying illicit extra-marital relations in seedy seaside hotels. Which, very nearly, is where this review kicks off, and also where it doesn?t! I?m unable to comment on the joys of same-sex relationships. I didn?t spend the weekend there. My own...
