Advantages: Clean, comfy, modern Disadvantages: Very expensive restarant and bar, rather sad swimming pool and gym
...This hotel in in the centre of Bristol within waling distance of Temple Meads Station. If you know Bristol then you will know that this location then might mean convenience but it's not gorgeous - a lot of Bristol was bombed in the war and rebuilt in the 50s and 60s and it shows! The hotel itself is newer than that though, but when you arrive it does look a bit tired and in need of a facelift.
Parking is available and not difficult, though like most city centre budget hotels you have to pay extra for it, but I thought the £3.50 a night quite a good rate. It seemed a secure car park.
.
I checked in swiftly and the receptionist was helpful and friendly. I paid £104 a night for two people for an executive double (i.e. one grade up from the standard one) over the internet before we went. The hotel has a lot of floors (we were...
Advantages: Good leisure club, nice rooms Disadvantages: Unfriendly staff
...The Jarvis Hotel is a couple of miles north of Bristol in an area called Winterbourne. As a former country house built in the mid 19th century and with extensive grounds it has every going for it as a hotel. The Jarvis group have spent a lot of money refurbishing the place including an excellent Poolside leisure Club with swimming pool, spa, solarium and under-utilised exercise equipment. As is often the case the pool is a little small and you soon learn how a goldfish must feel swimming around the same extent of water only about 6 times your body length.
The rooms in the old part of the hotel are quite spacious but you may find those in the newer part little better than a motorway lodge for size. They are clean and tidy and have the obligatory tea-making facilities. All rooms are en-suite. The bar is cramped but nearby is a huge...

I first came across Thistle Bristol on a romantic weekend away with my boyfriend in 2001 We chose it because it was on special offer in the Daily Mail, and it looked fabulous in the photos. Since then we?ve been back every October to celebrate our anniversary.
Located around 1 mile from Bristol Temple Meads station, this Thistle hotel sits right in the heart of the town centre ? 3 minutes walk from the main shopping centre, and 3 minutes from the nearest pubs and restaurants. Great for us because we don?t drive. Car parking is available at an extra charge.
At first sight I was very impressed! A charming Old Victorian style building. The rooms are equally...
Advantages: Very nice service Disadvantages: Very NOT nice prices
..., Bristol, and Birmingham and have typically found the same service up and down the country and the hotels are pretty much identical! The service and rooms up and down the country are all a mirror image of each other. Initially I found this bizarre but now I’m used to the same spiel I get and automatically answer “no” to “Would you like a wake up call?” and “Ok then” to “Would you like a complimentary paper?”
This time I stayed a Thistle Hotel in Bristol Temple Meads. I didn’t see much of Bristol but the city centre, which is where the hotel is located, is very pretty and parts of it have a village atmosphere with its little personal shops as opposed to the big bustling commercial streams of department stores.
I arrived in the evening and entered what was a pretty grand looking...
...Intro
Me and my boyfriend visited this hotel in July 2009. We stayed for 3 nights, but although we only went bed and breakfast, we were able to access all the services which was great!
Food
The breakfast was great we had so much to choose from. There was toast, cereals, cooked breakfast, yoghurt's and fruit. We didn't have chance to have a meal at the hotel but it was around £15.00 for a set three course meal which was not too bad at all!
Location
This hotel is located on Redcliffe Way in Bristol. It couldn't have been in a more perfect location in my opinion. It was close to the city centre an we often walked into the city for shopping or eating!
The Hotel Itself
This hotel is part of the Ramada chain and it was very clean- housemaids cleaned every morning, the room service was expensive as imaginable but what can you do...
Advantages: Good location. Bristol is better than it sounds at first. Disadvantages: None really, but the afternoon barmaid let the team down.
...and started playing about with ?Priceline?. They?re absolute fiends! You select a location (in this case, Bristol). You select a quality level (in this case, four star). You give your credit card details. You make a ridiculous bid (in this case, £40). You wait to be committed to a random hotel of their choice?
Three minutes later, I was informed that my ridiculous offer was accepted. We were off to the Marriott Bristol City Centre. Bristol has two Marriotts. One is better than the other. This is probably the poor relation, but I can tell you that it certainly isn?t at all bad. If you want to know more, read on by all means!
Arriving in Bristol mid-afternoon on the M32 motorway, we hung a left and there was the hotel. Very easily spotted, this 10 storey building was not particularly attractive from the outside. After a few...
Advantages: Stunning views, well located. Disadvantages: Poorly run, shabby and poorly maintained
...My wife and I returned on 09/09/2007, from a wonderful week in Taormina on the beautiful Island of Sicily.
A wonderful week marred by one thing - The HotelBristol Park!
We paid around £800 each for a weeks B & B at this establishment, provided through Thompsons. This Hotel passes itself off as a Four Star Hotel.
*** LOCATION ***
One of the greatest assets of this Hotel is its fabulous location. If you want a well located Hotel in Taormina, with great views of Mount Etna (the main reason we booked this Hotel), there won't be many better in Taormina. We had a room on the third floor with a 180 degree view of the sea, the town of Guarding Naxos below Taormina, and the town of Taormina itself. By far the most imposing part of the view though was Mount Etna - the view of this 10,000 feet active Volcano was magnificent. Most...
Advantages: Plenty of family attractions, good train links, good hotels Disadvantages: Night life is rough, parking is expensive
...
Bristol is now really well served for hotels. Contemporary hotel the City Inn on Temple Way is located perfectly for access to Temple Meads station. It?s smart, modern and has great food in the café downstairs. Check out the web site at www.cityinn.com for good rates (often £60-70 at weekends per night). At quiet times of the year, you can get weekend deals of three nights for the price of two. Similarly, the Mercure Brigstow hotel in the very centre of Bristol is around the same price, and smartly fitted. Many of the rooms face straight onto the river and the better rooms have patio doors that let you take your breakfast with a gust of fresh air and some early morning sunshine. If your budget isn?t particularly squeezed, you might opt for the Marriott hotel on College Green, which is probably the most expensive luxury hotel in the city centre...

Review of Bristol in General
Advantages: TV in the bathroom! Disadvantages: No gym
...I stayed at the Brigstow Hotel in Bristol following a night out with the company I work for.
The Brigstow is definitely one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in.
There are 115 bedrooms at the hotel and all have the usual facilities - air conditioning, mini bars and a safe. There is a nearby car park, so parking would not be a problem.
I stayed in a standard bedroom which was tastefully decorated - the furnishings were modern and colourful, which makes a change from some of the gloomy chains that are about. The bed was really comfortable too - with huge pillows! I also liked the fluffy rugs on the floor - the whole room felt very cosy.
The bedroom was en suite with a good sized bathroom with a bath and a shower. I think my favourite thing about the hotel was that the room I stayed in had a small plasma screen fitted into one...
