THE summer pub in Birmingham

Advantages: Excellent food, fab surroundings, being able to wander down to the canal after dinner
Disadvantages: An awkward layout for disabled visitors

...A lovely place to spend a few hours in the summer is The Hopwood House in the South Birmingham area. I first started visiting here as a child as, as I remember, it was (then) the only pub in the local area which welcomed children. The pub itself is a large old building which sits on the bank of the Worcester and Birmingham Canal; it looks very traditional and pretty from the outside...

Tap and Spile, Birmingham a great pub!

Advantages: A good, honest pub
Disadvantages: Can be rather full, sometimes

...The Tap And Spile public house, is on Gas Street, Birmingham. In fact, the pub can be entered on two levsl, from Gas Street (which is just off Broad Street) and on a lower level, from the canalside tow path.
