Rule Britannia!
Advantages: Cheap! Central Location.
Disadvantages: Soft Pillows, dirty bathroom.
...expensive. So, it was time for some shopping around?
Doing a load of searching and whatnot on Google, I stumbled upon this, the Britannia Hotel. Located down New Street, Birmingham, and at just £35 per night as the advanced fee ? it was a bargain.
Finding The Hotel
Being pretty poor at most sort of planning, I didn?t really take much note of exactly where the Hotel was, just that it was somewhere down New Street. So, it actually took us a bit of finding, but that was mainly due to us not knowing Birmingham at all. All I remember now, is it is next to Primark, so that?s that.
The Room
We had room 225, located right at the end of the maze-like corridor, on floor two. Opening the door, the room was pretty much how we expected it to be ? as basic as humanly possible. Two Beds, sat next to each other, with a tiny set of drawers to...

Birmingham Britannia Hotel - Average
Advantages: central location, reasonable room size
Disadvantages: dated furniture, noisy generator, rubbish towels
...I stayed at this hotel for work purposes on Monday 3rd March in a single room on the sixth floor. We paid £70 B&B.
My initial reaction was to be extremely negative about this hotel, however, on reflection i think it is important to point out some of its good points. I would not say it was an enjoyable experience, however, it was adequate and i've had worse!
On the plus side -
This is a proper city centre hotel - right in the centre of town, close to shops. If you are visiting Birmingham to shop, this is perfect.
The kettle and toilet were clean, which is always a good start!
The member of staff who booked me in was pleasant and helpful. There was an error with our booking, we had 4 rooms booked, but only two of us were on the list. She gave me the list to check through - which had other guest's names and personal details...

Rule Britannia?
Advantages: newly refurbed room, brilliant bath and shower, price
Disadvantages: some areas still quite tatty
...Well my second weekend in Brumopolis passed with little excitement, which was something of a relief.
The hotel on this occasion was booked through laterooms.com (see previous review) and was the Britannia in the city centre, it cost me £47 for a double room bed only, a friend also staying the same night paid £42 for a single.
Arriving at the train station my previous visits 'beer compass' directions sent me for a walk around the outside of the train station but from the exit through the shopping centre it is literally a walk of a minute at most (note to self shoving through groups of football fans is a bad idea). But for a city centre hotel you cant get much more central than this one.
The hotel itself has the entry through Union Passage just off the main street. The revolving door is quite heavy but there is a wider...

The Hotel Which Time Forgot
Advantages: Cheap, great location
Disadvantages: Thin walls, decor has seen better days
...I have stayed in hotels from time to time after a night out as it often works out as cheaper than getting a taxi home for me! This is what first brought me to stay at the Britannia, and I have stayed there a total of 4 times so far.
Features Provided in the Hotel
The Britannia Birmingham is a large hotel in the city centre of Birmingham, and part of a chain of Britannia hotels across the country.
The Britannia boasts:
195 rooms
General Restaurant
Bar
24-Hour Front Desk
Non-Smoking Rooms
Business Centre with free of charge internet
The 9th floor of the hotel is devoted to conferences and banquets
Room Service
Check-In from 14:00 hours
Check-Out until 11:00 hours
Price
I usually book my stays at the Britannia through lastminute.com as I find it is often cheaper than just turning up on the day...

Rule Britannia, Britannia Rule The World..NOT!!!
Advantages: Close To Manchester Airport, Current Staff Are Very Good
Disadvantages: Tatty, Dirty, Smelly, Terrible Food, Awful Drinks
...Having stayed at The Britannia Country House Hotel, about a mile up the road from this one, I would not have chosen to stay at another Britannia Hotel if my life depended on it, however we were working here and had to stick it out for a couple of nights in October. I have to admit I was expecting the worst.
First Impressions
As you approach the hotel you are me with one of the worst looking hotels you have ever set eyes on. I am not exaggerating, this hotel really is an eyesore, it is simply a huge mass of pebble dashed concrete, and resembles a block of ugly high rise flats, it is also about 100 meters from the M56, which is handy for getting to the airport amongst other things, but also adds to the eyesore and, obvously, noise factor. It has a multi storey car park to the left of it and an open air car park to the rear...

Manchester Britannia Airport Hotel
Advantages: free parking
Disadvantages: see review
...is obviously an issue of health and safety.
I can understand that economic issues might mean that priorities have to be set and a carpet might not be one of them, but overall this hotel shows itself not only as worn and shabby (which could be excused) but is downright filthy. The grime and dirt on the stairwell and at the bottom of the stair spindles is worth a photo or two. The light coloured couch and armchairs in the bar are disgusting, with dark stains running down from the headrests. The website may advertise "Britannia for Value" but our money is still worth customer service, courtesy and cleanliness. This hotel has all the attributes of Fawlty Towers. We might have found the humour to appreciate this if we had faced someone with the panache of Basil Fawlty, instead of the truculent person in charge we encountered that night...

Britannia Hampstead Hotel, London
Advantages: none!
Disadvantages: everything!
...I stayed at this hotel when I went to London for a two night stay, it was a travel package which included coach travel down, we didn't know where we were staying until we got there and believe me if I had have known I wouldn't have gone. The outside looked okay and the lobby didn't look too bad either but then we went in our room, it was very dark and dull and very dated, it was fairly clean though. The toilet and shower were seperate the toilet needed updating also, there was tiles in it and they were cracked and looked as if they had been stuck on by somone who didn't know what they were doing. There was no bath just a stand alone shower squashed into a cupboard that was hidden with a door.
The food- The travel package included breakfast and tea, there wasn't much choice, if your fussy your stuffed basically, and it was all cold...

sachas hotel
Advantages: good price,great location
Disadvantages: no window
...****Sachas hotel- Manchester****
I booked this hotel last minute as i had a job interview in Manchester and needed somewhere quite cheap ,that was also near the centre.
**Location/Getting there**
This hotel is located in Tibb street which is a 2 minute walk from Piccadily Gardens or 10 minutes away from Chorlton street bus station. The Train station is a little bit further away say maybe a twenty minute walk but i don't think that this is that bad .You can also get a tram from Piccadily gardens and this goes to quite a few places. You could also get a taxi to the hotel but i am not sure what parking is like if you were to take your own car.
**Reception/staff**
Since i had never been to Manchester before i phoned and asked the staff for directions -they were very nice and helped me out. When i got there i think i got the same...

The hotel from hell
Advantages: Central Location
Disadvantages: Awful room, dirty breakfast area including cutlery, poor staff, noisey
...I had the misfortune to stay at the Britannia Hotel during september of last year. Having stayed in a fair few hotels in my time I was gobsmacked by the appaling way it was run and feel I would like to review the hotel to warn any potential customers of the pitfalls.
My experience
I ended up at the Britannia as the company I work for was running groups regionally and the agency we work with selected the Britannia for its reasonable rates and central location. Because I was to spend my evening watching the focus groups I thought why not book a room in this place too. I dearly wish I'd had more sense and gone to the lovely Malmaison done the road. But you can always say that with hindsite.
From the road the Britannia looks pretty good. Its a large stone clad old building, the sort of building you'd look at Architectually...

Britannia Stockport - a good budget stopover
Advantages: Cheap, spacious, good location
Disadvantages: Old fashioned decor, poor service on a few occasions
...My husband and I spent last weekend in Manchester visiting friends and family, and chose Britannia Stockport Hotel as our base for the weekend. The hotel is situated on Dialstone Lane in Offerton, Stockport, and is about 5 minutes away from the M60 ringroad around Manchester. I had previously read several reviews of this hotel on other websites suggesting that the hotel was terrible ? dirty rooms, poor service etc. However we decided to give it a try as it was an ideal location for us and for less than £90 for three nights for both of us the price was unbeatable.
I originally found information about the hotel by searching for hotels in Stockport on www.lastminute.com, which states that the hotel is 3*, and that the ?bedrooms are dated but clean and are also currently being refurbished.?
***BOOKING
I made my booking through...
