...I have used British Airways on a number of occasions and first off, I must say that it is definitely my preferred airline. The most recent was when I travelled to Germany as a Euro Traveller on a past CityFlyer service.(Previously an independent airline until BA bought it a few years ago). I flew from London Heathrow to Zurich (Switzerland) and caught the train into Germany. I returned by flying from Frankfurt to London Heathrow. You may ask why such a strange route. Well, other than the fun of using, what I felt to be extensive travel, there didn't appear to be any returning flights from Zurich. I think that was a result of the planes flying back to Heathrow by an indirect route. It didn't bother me too much since the cost stayed the same and I got to see 2 different airports. ...After the second time I went back to England, on British Airways, I decided to sign up for their frequent flyer miles. I figured I would be visiting family at least once a year, so I might as well reap the benefits. Both Len and I have the Blue Executive card. That is the bottom of the range, and I feel after 15 trips with them, that it is all that we will achieve. I assume business flyers obtain the Silver and Gold status. Basically it is the fare class that gives you points. I always go Ecomony, apart from my last trip, free Club Class, but I will explain more later in this review. Although I pay almost $1,000 (£650)round trip in July/August, this is still a discounted fare, and doesn't count toward the next band. So how do I get more miles. ...3 months ago, I paid £3650 (approx $6387 USD) to British Airways to fly business class, full flat bed service from London UK to Cape Town SA. They decided not to provide me with the service that I had paid for, and have since lied and altered their story to avoid paying an acceptable refund. On trying to complete an online check in 20 hours before departure, I received an error message saying that I couldn't check in online and could only check in personally. This I did in good time and was surprised to be told that there wasn't a seat available for check in and I had to wait for "seat allocation". 20 minutes before take off, it was confirmed to me that "due to the malfunction of a first class seat", that first class passenger had been downgraded to my seat and I was being downgraded. ...I have now flown with British Airways about 15 times both long and short haul flights, so thought I’d review how I think they are doing. British Airways fly to most destinations and are one of the world’s largest airlines. I have flown to several destinations in the States, South Africa and numerous countries in Europe. I have on the whole been very satisfied with the service I have received. Before travelling I always do my research on the Internet to check for the cheapest fares. British Airways often come out as cheapest. I also prefer to fly direct if possible and again British Airways often offer this. Like most airlines B.A’s pricing structure is a very complicated one! ...UPDATE AT BOTTOM. For some reason British airways has had a bad name attached to it – but anyone who flies with them frequently will know that this is not true. Ok, so every airline has its problems, including BA, but the service level at BA is excellent. This review is about Club Wolrd on the Boeing 777 @ British Airways. HOW WE WERE UPGRADED We originally bought return tickets to San Diego from London for around £700 a piece in economy class. This is fairly cheap as we used a third party website that got us cheap tickets. The trick to getting upgraded is to arrive at the airport really early. BA always oversell economy class, so the first people to get there will be upgraded to Club World. ...I have recently been travelling for work and fly with British Airways in Europe....I have found the service to be of a good standard considering that most of the flights last about 1 hour....during that time i have received a light meal and refreshments(which I am barely able to finish) - next thing i know the flight is ready to land! Obviously the tickets I have been purchasing are in business class, the service in economy may not be worth the money...i feel that the cost of a business class European flight with British Airways is highly priced when you consider that the flight lasts usually one hour. On the other hand, for business passengers i think that having a meal, recieving a little bit of pampering and being able to relax a little before heading on in the name of work, is a good way for companies to inspire staff... I had boarded the BA 747 aircraft at LHR (London Heathrow Airport), and was travelling to the USA for three months to do some teaching. Just a year earlier I had faced possible redundancy with the job, but due to my linguistic abilities (I speak five languages), I had been selected for this very prestigious assignment. ...Having worked in the customer relations side department for just over a year, I gained a great insight into what the company can do wrong and how they can get it right. Dealing with predominantly post travel issues, I found that the majority of problems for passengers were around luggage, in flight services such as entertainment or catering and customer service. There are many other issues such as rude staff, cancelled flights etc. British Airways does make mistakes, only because there are so many things that could go wrong. Think of a chain, if one link breaks the chain crashes. For a British Airways experience to be faultless all the chains have to work together, from the ground staff, baggage handlers and flight crew. ...Before even going to the travel agents I was going to make up my own holiday like many people are now doing by booking your own flights online, your own hotel. I looked at Easyjet but noticed for once they were not as cheap as usual and flying a more prestigious airline was more worthwhile than the money I would be paying for British Midland or British Airways. So I typed in my departure city and destination and had a rough price but was still not fully convinced with the price so I had to go to my travel agents. So as I sat down at the travel agents I was talked through the flights and it came to roughly £200 for two return flighs to Paris which I thought as really good. ...I have only flown a few times in my life and never with British Airways. I have just been on honeymoon to Cyprus and the flights were with BA. The flight was part of the package booked so we had no choice in who we were flying with and also have no idea of the cost. My experience of flying with them was great so I wanted to share it. OUTWARD JOURNEY +++++++++++++++++ We arrived at Heathrow at around 4pm for a 6.50pm flight. We were able to check in straight away, after queing for around 10 minutes. We had dressed smartly, as the travel agent said we might get upgraded as we were on honeymoon, but we would need to look smart.
