Export beats it's brother
Advantages: Beats it's brother in everyway to be an average drink
Disadvantages: It's still only an average drink
...Yesterday it was plain old Carlsberg tonight it's the export, courtesy of my mother who's sharing her booze whilst we have some Chinese food she's got from Asda. So again, lets do the intelligent thing and...review it.
Carlsberg are one of the cheaper lagers, this ones a bit more pricey than the normal ?green can version?, infact talking about the colours, this one inverts the normal can and is silver with a green trim. This time the can comes in the smaller and more average size of 440ml, and is 5% ABV so a far stronger drink than it's little weak brother (3.8%). The company we're first brought to my attention as being sponsors of Liverpools shirts when I was little but unbeknownst to me they were an alcoholic beverage manufacturer as opposed to just a name on a football shirt (I was young). The company were founded over 160 years...

British Gas
Advantages: gas seems fine
Disadvantages: telephone nightmare
...British Gas
I felt I had to write this review after having to deal with this company for the first time and being pretty disappointed. Having moved into a new flat and coming from a flat where all the bills were included in the rent meaning never having to deal with all these companies and now having to set up all the new accounts for things such as electricity, gas and water I found this company particularly tiresome to deal with.
We were meant to phone up on the day we moved in to the new flat and pass over all the readings on the meters and the correct information to set up new accounts and the such like. I had no problems at all when contacting the water supplier and the electricity supplier but when it came to the gas this was more of a problem that I could of dreamed.
After phoning up the main line for British...

No wonder they export it
Advantages: Good adverts
Disadvantages: Poor packaging, no complexity
...After a recent opinion I wrote concerning Carlsberg PREMIUM Lager, it was suggested to me that Carlsberg EXPORT Lager was quite a decent beer. Now that's the sort of challenge this site could use more of. So at the first opportunity, I rushed off to Safeway as fast as my little legs would carry me, and purchased a 500ml bottle of CARLSBERG EXPORT LAGER for the not unreasonable price of 99p.
I won't bore you with any facts about the brewery as I've already listed some of the more salient points in the previous opinion. Nor will I go into any detail about the bottle...save to mention it's green and by a remarkable co-incidence, has the words of the product boldly displayed on the label.
Likewise, in keeping this opinion succinct, compendious, even terse - but not laconic, I won't deviate from the opinion with an interlude...

Export strength lager at it's best
Advantages: Great tasting lager and its refreshing too
Disadvantages: A little pricey compared to weaker lagers
...?cold filtered? choice on pub taps, and whilst lo-alcohol beers are good for drivers, I would rather stick to a more refined number. Having discovered that Mythos was distinctly average and Amstel was a fairly horrendous alternative, I was forced into Heineken, and this two week dedication to the drink got me a taste up. But one problem greeted me on my return, where could I get this drink on tap in this country. I soon realised that Heineken was nowhere to be found, yes you could buy the bottles, but for that 5.0% export flavour you would have to in fact export yourself to the continent.
Fortunately the good people at Heineken began to export it here on mass. The first time I discovered the cans was in a pokey corner shop in Charlton, myself and my Greek flatmate (no relation to the holiday) fell upon it in wondrous gaze. With haste...

heineken export lager...
Advantages: How refreshing and beautiful.
Disadvantages: not dark and bitter, some may say it is pissy or watery.
...thought and consideration, basically we love the thing.
"HOW REFRESHING...HOW HEINEKEN"
Imprint this in your mind, the ads are great, the man who made it is great, the beer is great and the bottle is great anyone for a drink, choose Heineken, the no. 1 !!! Premium lager, exported from the beer capitalof the world or so I think. A gorgeous delicious, creamy, refreshing, cold, bitter-sweet symphonie of music and of pure elegance, all wrapped up in a splendidly styled , green adn red, bottle, see buy and fly into your imagination. Money burned by British Gas
Advantages: Large company, synergy, many products offered.
Disadvantages: Price hikes, deparments don't talk to each other
...UPDATE 28.11.08
When I wrote the review below, prices had gone up by 50% since January 2008, with British Gas agents profusely blaming rise in oil prices for rises in both Gas and Electricity. Fair point? By July oil was at a record $147 a barrel at its peak. Since then oil has collapsed to a 2 year low of $52 a barrel and still falling, I spoke to British Gas about this -- they say that gas is already in the system paid for at the old prices! On Radio 4's Today program, they continued along this line when pressed about price rising the moment oil goes up, but stubbornly high when oil comes down.
Remember, not a penny has come off gas or electricity - yet when the first wave of oil price rises began in January 2008, gas prices went up by 15% and a further rise of 35% in August. It is now five months on, and British Gas...

British Gas make a complete hash.
Advantages: None that I can think of...oh..they have the word "British" in their name
Disadvantages: Customer Service (lack of), Prices, Attitude...oh everything really
...The name "British Gas" always had that comfortable ,solid feel to it. To me it always invoked a sense of something reliable, but probably expensive. Quality service that wouldn't let you down. A company you could trust. Ok, probably a bit pricey, but you knew they'd come up trumps for you. In a way, something akin to the AA (the so called "4th Emergency Service). Best engineers, best service, best of British.. and all that.
Hey, I can already hear you sniggering ?.
Now I admit I wasn't a customer of BG, as an adult, so my impressions of them were not first hand. These were just memories of living with the parents and what I envisaged when I heard the name. It just had that good wholesome feel to it. When you needed an emergency Gas engineer, you looked in the phone book for British Gas - not some local 'cowboy' Oh how...

British gas
Advantages: NOTHING AT ALL
Disadvantages: everything!
...When I moved into my flat there were two reasons I decided to choose British Gas as my Gas supplier. Firstly there was already a British Gas Pre Payment meter installed, and secondly I chose them because they were a well known name. Well, if only I?d done some research first I could have saved myself a whole lot of bother.
My first problem was actually finding a number to ring to get the supply connected. I tried the Yellow Pages and the Thompson local, but although they had a full page add on the back of the Yellow Pages it was for buying a fireplace, not connecting the gas supply. Never mind I thought, I?ll give it a ring anyway, and maybe they?ll be able to give me the number I need. Anyway, they put me on hold for about 10 minutes and then the woman (sounding very huffy) gave me the number I needed.
So I rang the number...

Brilliant British!
Advantages: Large quantity, taste etc
Disadvantages: vomit smell, expensive
...Last week me and my mum were going out to see a show, which was an hour away in the car. This meant I had to have an early tea, and on discovering we had nothing quick in our fridge or freezer we nipped off to Tesco in order to purchase a pizza!
On arriving at the frozen aisle I was distracted by an array of frozen meals in the freezer next to the pizza's. I knew on first glance I fancied a ready meal rather than a pizza and so I began to search for something suitable!
Among the tesco value, tesco finest, weight watchers meals and healthy living meals, I discovered a product I hadn't seen before! The particular product was Tesco; British Cuisine, Roast Beef Dinner. The frozen meal was held in a plastic tray, and a carboard sleeve was slid over! The carboard sleeve contained a scrumptious looking picture of what the meal looks like...
