The Scottish Isles for me have a sort of mystique about them, the isolation and the tradition they have, but Skye has always been the one I?ve wanted to go to. I think a lot of it has to do with my favourite band, Runrig, being from there ? their songs are often about the landscape they grew up in, and they even have a song called Skye. Having moved into a new flat and coming from a flat where all the bills were included in the rent meaning never having to deal with all these companies and now having to set up all the new accounts for things such as electricity, gas and water I found this company particularly tiresome to deal with. We were meant to phone up on the day we moved in to the new flat and pass over all the readings on the meters and the correct information to set up new accounts and the such like. ...Well having just spent a week on this lovely Island, which is the first time I have been back to the Isle of Wight for 14 years, the beauty is still there. We stayed at Ryde in a holiday park but my posting is on the actual island as the holiday park we stayed at was a let down. Anyway, to start with the Ferry trip from Portsmouth to Freemantle is nice, the kids enjoyed as well as the adults who went. The only down side on this was that it took us nearly two and a half hours to get through Portsmouth to the port. The fault lied with the Ferry's as one of them had a mechanical breakdown. Travelling through Portsmouth, I would recommend following the signs for the Historical Boatyard as this would save a lot of travelling through the town. Anyway the boat trip takes about 40-45 minutes to reach the Isle of Wight - enough time...
