...Chariots of Fire won many awards including 4 Oscars, most notably the Oscar for Best Film. A lot of people claim that the story is vastly inaccurate, and that it is only the award winning score by Vangelis that makes the film. The film does have a special attachment for me, as I went to St Andrews University, where the opening sequence was shot, and also because I admire Eric Liddell. The film is a great story, although for non-British audiences a lot of the appeal is lost. It has a lot of great lines which probably lose soemthing to a non British audience. I have watched this film many times and still can watch it again.... Read review

...If you're into hedonistic London clubs and looking for a night out in New York then Twilo's is probably your kind of place. It's a large busy club (expect to queue) which attracts some of the top British and American DJ's. It's not as dressy as some UK clubs but a few people were wearing outrageous clubgear. The atmosphere was well up for it but probably not as relaxed as clubs in the UK. It is one of the few places open all night (to 10 am...). As with everywhere in New York remember to take photo ID with you.... Read review

...British Gas - part of Centrica has had a lot of bad publicity since it was a private monopoly and competition opened up in 1996. Since then British Gas has been trying to improve its image. Customer Service used to be apalling, customers used to wait 1hr + in the que and matters were still not resolved. As a result when competition opened customers left British Gas in their millions. Not to mention they were the most expensive at the time. Direct debit system and the dual fuel discounts actually worked well if there were no mistakes. Unfortunately with British Gas, there were alot of mistakes. For example, billing errors, overcharging and incorrect amounts made many customers frustrated. I personally was at the end of my tether when I moved home, leaving at the time NPower, with bills relatively cheap and no effective problems... Read review

Such a great player as Walter Hagen never won a British or US Open when Jones was competing. It all took off in 1923 when he won his first major, the US Open. This despite completing his final round bogey, bogey, double bogey. It was probably nerves – or was there a flaw in Jones’s armour in that he tended to let up when in a commanding position? He was clearly better when under the whip. That came in the playoff against Bobby Cruikshank. At the last he had to risk all to win, needing to hit a long iron from a sandy lie over water onto the green – or lay short of the hazard for safety, with the likelihood of having to play... ...I thought I'd let you know about British Gas Communications who now provide me with low cost telephone calls whilst I still remain a BT customer.This is how it works. This is the only bit of the tale I would rather not have to mention as I have a personal dislike to canvassers calling at my home address. Sure enough I was at home when someone knocked on my front door.Upon opening the door I noticed a lady in a British Gas uniform.As I currently have both my Gas and Electricity supplied by British Gas this was not too much of a surprise. When the lady mentioned providing low cost telephone calls my initial reaction was one of disinterest as I was already thinking ahead of the possible hassle and unwanted inconvienience that may have been involved. Advantages: Excellent collections

...Just as it is impossible to do the British Museum in London completely, the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna has simply too much to see the whole lot in one go. As well as some excellent permanent collections, which often form the nucleus of temporary exhibitions as well, the temporary exhibitions are excellent. Unlike the British Museum it is not free, although production of an ISIC card can lower the entry price from ATS100 (ca GBP5) to ATS70. There are also English lecture tours which I would recommend. Opening hours are 10am-6pm everyday apart from Monday (closed!) and Thursday has extended opening until 9pm. There is a great collection of Dürer and Breughel, and for a guide to what is on at any given time, the Museum Website, www.khm.at is a good source of information. ...I was'nt long living in my new house when a british gas cold caller calls to the door. He has this story that he's in the area today to correct the high prices that where mistakenly place on my meter by the local service provider which was N-power. I know hes full of it, but I ask him straight out whos cheapest and he gaurantees me british gas are cheaper. Then he works me out an estamate and he signs me up for a 35 pound a month direct debit which was alot cheaper, I was well inpressed. Few months later everything is going fine,I change my bank accounts and ring up British Gas to change my details. End of the month comes along and they mess it up and take the money out of my old account which knocks me overdrawn.It was two bills as well so I got charged twice. I ring british gas and wasted about a tenner while I was kept on hold... Read review
