...This is a review about Sky Connect. This is the pay monthly version of broadband from Sky, not the free version advertised on tv at the moment. If you are not yet able to recieve the free versions called Base, Mid or Max, you will be offered Sky Connect instead. You must be a Sky TV subscriber, or willing to be one to receive their broadband. Cost: £17.00 pcm, £40.00 connection fee. Freebies: Netgear Sky branded wireless router, McAfee Internet Security Suite, P&P. To get this service, you first have to register your interest on the Sky Broadand web site. This is painless enough and will ensure you recieve fortnightly email updates on when you can order the service. Review of Sky Broadband

Wireless-G Broadband router WRT54GC

Advantages: Very Small, wall mountable, good setup wizard
Disadvantages: Some technical jargon in initial setup

...not want to turn this review into a Hi-Fi manual! The network name can be hidden and you can restrict router access to computers listed in the wireless client list. The ability to specify either an open system or shared key for authentication. These are the options I have tweaked and I believe this should prevent basic hacking of my wireless broadband router. The initial setup was easy once the brain was engaged. Do not do anything other than insert the CD, all the setting up is covered from connecting the power to the ethernet cables. One tip though is to go online via your broadband modem prior to starting the setup. This will ensure that any snags that may arise are due to the subsequent installation. Anyhow the only problem I had was in terminology, my previous router had said 'cable users click here'. This one offers...

Wireless Broadband to the home

Advantages: Wire-free Network, Backward Compatible, Price
Disadvantages: Not quite Plug & Play!

...Wireless components have been gradually creeping down and down in price over the last few months, to a point where I feel they are now completely accessible to the home market. The Linksys Broadband Router is ideal for anyone who wants to share their broadband connection to multiple computers in the home, without the hassle of hanging network cables out of windows or pulling all the floorboards up! Straight out the box the unit is aesthetically pleasing and contains everything to get you started. A word of warning however, the product contains a quick start guide which shows you the bare minimum to get the unit up and running, the actual manual is presented in a electronic format on CD-ROM.
