Reviews of brother label printer
If you print labels, you NEED this
Review of DYMO LabelWriter 400 by
The-Entertainment-King
Advantages: No Messing about with sheet labels
Disadvantages: None
...I purchased this printer as I was fed up printing out on sheet labels. I had originally used a Brother labelprinter at work which made me think more along the lines of getting one of them. Having searched the net, came across this one (which is much neater than the brother one) and eventually bought it.
Comes with everything you need to get started, sample roll of labels, printer, cables, drivers and software.
Very Easy to setup though it did take me a couple of minutes to work out how to fit the roll of labels, which is actually very straight forward.
Comes with its own software so you can have an address book within it (can be imported also) so just click on details and print label right away with the click of a button. There are LOADS of labels available which I have also bought a selection of so it is available at any time I may need...

Great Printer Great Price
Review of Brother HL 1030 by
Corfian
Advantages: Cheap to buy,low running cost, reliable
Disadvantages: Cost of Replacement Drum Unit
...The Brother HL 1030 is a good entry-level printer. It costs under £200 but is best to shop around before you buy. It has got a Standard paper tray that fits 250 pages. The printer can handle a number of different paper sizes (A4, B5, A5, A6, Letter) and media types (OHP, envelopes, labels). This is an ideal printer for a small office home office environment.
If not in use it goes into sleep mode.
Its print out speed is about 10 pages per minute, and takes about 45 seconds to warm up from sleep mode.
Its max output resolution is 600x600dpi and its got 2MB of Memory.
The drivers are easy to install and come in disk and CD from.
The Brother HL 1030 is one of the cheapest printers to run. Like most laser printers these days its toner cartridge is separate to the drum unit. This also aids in the running cost.
There are two sizes...

Oh Brother, where art thou labels!
Review of Brother P-Touch 2100VP by
andycharger
Advantages: Lots of extra functions, nice carry case
Disadvantages: mains operated, expensive
...With the demise of the office dymo, it was time to purchase a new labelling machine here at work.
We knew what we wanted. We knew the advantages and pitfalls of the Dymo and opted for the Brother P-Touch 2100VP.
Firstly, the Brother label printer comes in a handy carry case. Great for carting it around the office. Inside the rigid grey plastic case is the printer itself, its power supply and spare labelling reams.
Possibly its only shortcoming is the Dymo was quicker and easier to use as it was battery powered and therefore did not require plugging in for a quick one off label.
One massive advantage with the Brother device is that the keys (although small) are arranged in a true QWERTY layout. The Dymo took as long a time to find the letters as it did to finally generate, initiate and finally print the label! The build in LCD screen...

LEAVE MY BROTHER ALONE
Review of Brother HL 1030 by
barrytoplis
Advantages: Great for speed
Disadvantages: No good for photos
...feed the paper in individually or even if you require print onto A5 paper and all sizes of envelopes not to mention letter labels etc etc.
The printer has an automatic sleep function so that even if you go out leaving it on it will shut itself down until you make a new command saving on electricity and general wear on your printer.
I have tried printing out photos on this printer and it handles them quite well even if they are black and white only but obviously for the best results you should be buying a colour printer or photographic set.
Brother customer services are very good and if you ring up with a problem with your printer they will talk you through the possible troubleshooting moves and if they don't work will send out an engineer who for mine was out in 2 days which to me is not bad at all.
I also recieved an unreserved...

Laser Printer, yes please.
Review of Brother HL 5130 by
Griffin000
Advantages: Cheap consumables, Cheap laser printer
Disadvantages: Not as fast as stated
...I had a Brother HL-1240 printer for a number of years and it gave great service but a couple of months ago it finally died. A sad day but something bad was bound to happen soon. So on to the replacement. I needed a Laser Mono Printer, simple, and was looking for one which printed at a decent speed and more importantly had cheap consumables.
I searched around looking at the HP Laserjet 1012, Lexmark E232, Epson EPL 6200 and finally the Brother HL-5130.
A quick look at the printers stats will tell you that there is little to choose between the four printers.

Great as a back up in a networked office.
Review of HP LaserJet 4 plus by
sit2020
Advantages: Reliable and cheap
Disadvantages: Large for a desk top, only black and white.
...told that it can last for 6000 A4 sheets, I can believe this as I cannot remember the last time it was changed, these will cost somewhere in the region of £60.
The quality is very good, in fact I can see no difference in quality between this and its more expensive big brother apart from the lack of colour.
I would imagine that because of the age of this machine they can be picked up second hand at a reasonable price, I would also guess that there are plenty of them available due to their robust and reliable nature. Having had a look on the net to check the prices they are available for around £50 second hand.
As well as the standard use of A4 paper you can also print on envelopes, labels and transparencies
Although the noise output from this is louder than our colour printer it is still fairly quiet.
What about faults and failures, well...
