Advantages: Cheap toner, excellent quality
Disadvantages: does not like cheap copy paper to print on!

...Having recently started my own business, i was on the look out for a good value fax machine. Having had a Brother fax machine at my previous job i was impressed by its reliablilty and the cost of consumables. Whilst looking at rival fax machines, i could not find one that matched the excellent specification or price. The printer can be used as a multifunction device, however i only utilise it as a fax machine. However i have the back up that if one of my printers breaks down i can use the machine as a back up it could also be used as an emergency scanner or photocopier, although you can only feed sheets through it, so its use is limited on these points. The only slight niggle i have with the machine is that it does not seem to like my cheap copy paper that i use, and it sometimes requires that i only have one sheet in the feeder... Read review

The actual name of this cartridge is the brother lc 600C, obviously then this only fits inside of brother printers and there is also a limit to what brother printers this one can actually go into. You can use this cartridge with any of brothers MFC 3100C, MFC 3200C, MFC 3200J, MFC 3220, MFC 3320, MFC 3420, MFC 3820, MFC 580, MFC 590, MFC 880, MFC 890, MFC 5100C, MFC 5100J, MFC 5200C, MFC 5200J. It also works with brothers 1800C fax machine too. The great thing about brother ink is not only is it great quality and can get you some great prints as well as some great quality photos with normal ink like this, but the best thing is how cheap it is. ...to use their fax machine but now we can do it ourselves. Another function on the faxing is that the machine can fax from file so it does not actually need a hard copy in order to get a good faax. I have not done this but my hubby did and he said that it was quite easy and the recipient got a good copy. So it does everything it says on the box. But what about ink and the cost of replenishing the ink supply? I thought that because this is a Brother 4 in 1 machine that it would be really expensive but I have been proved wrong. The printer comes with 4 separate catridges - black, blue, red and yellow. The cost over here to replace them is 10 Euros each which works out at around £7 a cartridge. Advantages: Many different functions. Easy to use. USB link good. Multimedia input.
Disadvantages: Print + Scan quality poor. You have to scan each page individually for fax.

...more time and though placed on it, there are a number of different settings to how you want the faxes answering, and you can alter the resolution of recieved faxes, and save numbers for speed dial into the machine. The ringer is very loud, useful if your phone is quiet, but when sending a fax you have to scan one page at a time - for long documents this can prove very tiresome. The machine can hold a decent amount of paper, and the software provides an interactive ink monitor to tell you how much ink is left. The ink cartridges are black, yellow, cyan, and magenta - but run down quite quickly. The Brother MFC-210C does its job, but at the minimum standard acceptable to the consumer. For the relatively low price you don't expect that much, but this is mediocre.... Read review

...What we have here is the Brother MFC-7420 Multifunction digital laser device. Try saying it in one breath. Go on, I challenge you to say it in one breath. Did you manage it? If you did then you probably deserve a medal, but then so would 'Brother' for managing to cram so many features and uses into one device. That is a challenge in itself, and I'd imagine it was far from easy to accomplish and keep the design as attractive as it is. I know what you're thinking though. You've seen plenty of other printers out there that also do copying, scanning and faxing. They may even have been a fair bit cheaper. This is true, but what this item has in its favour is the speed of the printing, the attractive design, the brand name 'BROTHER' attached to it and the hardcore feel of the product. Advantages: Plenty of detail and overview of the philosophy of MFC
Disadvantages: You can get bogged down if you try and read this through.

...When I started reading this book, I thought it was a good read. Their initial descriptions of the helper classes from MFC - collections and strings etc - were interesting and useful. The insight into the way that the MFC team built the library was fascinating. Despite these good first impressions, I found that the book went downhill. There are quite a few problems with it: * The approach to MFC is very much "isn't this clever and look how you have to use it". Rather than taking a more practical approach. * The book is focused on outdated techniques and makes little reference to design patterns (which might help us use MFC better). * A lot of their explanations become very technical and manage to both overwhelm the user with detail while simultaneously omitting genuinely useful facts. ...Do you want to change the behaviour of some default MFC code, but don't want maintenance headaches? This could be the book for you. MFC Internals provides a fascinating insight into how many aspects of the MFC library actually work. Especially useful are the sequence diagrams showing flow of control in some of the common procedures such as printing. Taking the approach of analysing and hooking into standard behaviour can help you solve problems by working with the MFC rather than against it. MFC Internals is not a book you're likely to want to read from cover to cover, but it makes for an excellent reference.... Read review
