Afternoon Tea at Browns Restaurant and Bar
Advantages: Good value afternoon tea
Disadvantages: Slow service
...Recently one of my favourite things is afternoon tea. You would think that living in London it would be easy to find somewhere to have tea and scones. Living in London it is usually fairly easy to find whatever food I feel like eating, no matter how exotic that food is but it seems that finding somewhere where you can have afternoon tea that doesn't cost upwards of £25 is close to impossible! I was even considering paying the £38 that it costs to have afternoon tea at the ritz but fortunately before I managed to book a table a friend of mine suggested we have afternoon tea at Browns. I agreed, thinking that she meant the hotel and that I would still be paying over £30 for tea. Fortunately the place she had in mind was Browns Restaurant and Bar, not Browns hotel.
It has now become a regular thing for me and my friend to meet...

Brown like crap.
Advantages: Nice relaxed atmosphere
Disadvantages: The food is over priced and low in quality
...Browns - Leeds
I've never really been a fan of this sort of "restaurant", however I ended up at the Browns Leeds last Saturday. I expected Browns to be quite small inside but was surprised when I arrived to see a huge room decorated with marble floors and walls and your usual plants. Browns has a nice relaxed atmosphere inside and caters for a wide diversity of people, such office workers, students, OAPs and Shoppers. As there were a large number of friends with me we had to wait around for our large table to be cleared, I fancied a drink so tootled over to the bar where I was surprised to find only one type of lager, Strapomen I believe it was. Later after finishing my meal I noticed there were other beers but they weren't very well advertised at the bar.
After a pleasant pint of Strap-on we were called over to our private...

Harvester Restaurants
Advantages: Always one close by, quick turn out, children are welcome and catered for.
Disadvantages: Toilets can be quite disturbing, not all dishes taste as good they are described.
...Harvester Restaurants
Restaurant Reviewed: Stag and Hounds
Winchester Road
Basingstoke
Hampshire
(next to Comet and Home Base)
The Harvester chain of Restaurants have over 2000 outlets across the United Kingdom and owned and operated by Mitchells and Butlers, who claim to be the UK's leading operator of managed pubs, bars and restaurants. Harvester claim to offer healthy eating, drinking and entertainment in one reasonably priced outlet.
**** Parking and Getting a Table *****
As with most of the Harvester's I have visited, there is usually ample free parking at the rear of the establishment. However on Saturday evenings and Sunday lunch times these places are heaving with customers, so avoid the crowds, go early and if possible ring and reserve a table. The Stag and Hounds is no exception but fortunately...

Tosa Restaurant
Advantages: Read Opp
Disadvantages: Read Opp
...Introduction
I was recommended this restaurant by a friend who was really impressed by the quality of the food and service of this restaurant from her visit. I was interested to see this for myself on a wintery evening at the weekend. The restaurant itself is located in West London which is a quite posh and upmarket area. To the left of the restaurant was an office building and to the right was a back store retail outlet. Directly opposite this restaurant was an Allied Irish bank outlet. I was pleased overall as the location made it easily accessible on the public transport network in London. The restaurant is located near Stanford Brook W6 area of London and is just a few minutes away by walking to the restaurant.

Michael Caine Is Harry Brown
Advantages: Gritty British thriller
Disadvantages: A bit full on at the end
...If you followed the career path of Michael Caine you might well wonder what happened, from being crowned the King of Cool in movies such as Get Carter, Alfie, and The Italian Job; Caine almost dropped out of the popular movie genre. During the 80?s and 90?s with the odd exception (Educating Rita, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The forth Protocol) his movies were generally bottom end stuff, most of his output in this time is available on super low budget DVD. For Caine however age made him turn a corner, and as the star tentatively spoke about a cameo in popular soap Eastenders, his movie career took of in ways he possibly never realised. With two Batman movies, Children Of Men, and the highly acclaimed Is Anybody There? Behind him Caine now returns in his intriguing movie yet, Harry Brown.
Harry Brown follows a history of popular vigilante...

You won't be Browned off at Browns!
Advantages: Beautiful surroundings, amazing food.
Disadvantages: Bit Pricey for everyday, more for special occasions.
...My Daughter and I decided to treat ourselves to Sunday Lunch at Browns Restaurant in Cambridge. Which although many years ago was the V.D. Clinic is quite an impressive building! It has High ceilings and is decorated in the colonial style with ceiling fans and wicker chairs.
We had a drink at the bar first, A spritzer for me and Pimms for my daughter, the drinks were beautifully chilled and the Pimms was served with much fruit and mint, perfect. Pricey though, £8.15 for just 2 drinks.
We were shown to our table within 5 minutes and the waitress gave us enough time to decide but not so long that we felt we had been forgotten.
My Daughter had Hot Prawns in a red chilli sauce which she assures me were wonderful (I'm allergic)! and I had Button Mushrooms on toast with a fabulous creamy paprika sauce, so fabulous in fact that the waitress...

Brown hasn't lost it
Advantages: Great story, flows nicely, good characters
Disadvantages: Keeps you up all night
...of the science was a little complicated (I really don't have a scientific mind at all) and I had to double read a few bit to ensure that I understood them fully.
As I said, I had every intention of not reading the entire thing, but every time I started a new chapter I thought to myself 'right, this is definitely the last one', but then I'd get to the end of the chapter and I just had to find out what happened next, so then it was 'just one more chapter can't hurt'.
As for the characters, well Robert Langdon is typical Robert. If you haven't read any of the other books I don't think this one would give you a real understanding of him, although it does give you some insight into his past and his days as a new lecturer. But I think Dan Brown has assumed that you know Robert and his little foibles. Although I don't believe it'd exclude anyone from...

Ze Restaurant!
Advantages: Good show, interesting
Disadvantages: Slightly worse than last year`s
...The Restaurant is a TV programme shown on BBC 2 on Thursday nights! The show is a reality TV show and is similar to something like the Apprentice but a food version.
This show is obviously based on the concept and success of many other TV shows like the Apprentice, food shows like Masterchef and all the other shows like Dragon`s Den, X Factor e.t.c
The idea of the show is for world famous chef Raymond Blanc to find a couple to help him run a restaurant and the couples are gradually knocked out week by week until they have the winning couple. It is in its third season and seems to have got a bit worse. I still enjoy it but felt it used to be more exciting and interesting. There used to be two shows with one of them being a challenge but they seem to have got rid of this which is a shame!
Raymond has help from his two assistants e...

The Seafood Restaurant
Advantages: Great fish, sides
Disadvantages: None
...Rick Stein - The Seafood Restaurant
On a recent trip to Padstow, Cornwall we decided to go to Rick Steins famous fish restaurant, The Seafood Restaurant. Rick Stein is an English chef, restauranter and television presenter. He now specialises in fish cookery. He opened his first restaurant in Padstow in 1974 and now runs quite a few businesses in the town including a cake shop, cookery school and a fish and chip shop.
The Seafood Restaurant is his upper class restaurant in the town and is known for it's fabulous fish. It really is in the best location for fish. Padstow is a historic fishing port and so receives fresh fish every day. The restaurant is right at one end of town by the harbour and so is perfectly place to recieve all the best catches of the day.
It's quite hard to get a reservation in the restaurant. I think I booked...

My favourite Turkish restaurant on Green Lanes
Advantages: Great food, quick, friendly service, inexpensive
Disadvantages: Can be crowded and noisy on weekend nights
... INTRODUCTION
Diyarbakir is a Turkish Restaurant on Green Lanes (A10), in the borough of Haringey, North London, a 7-8 minute walk from Manor House Tube station and practically seconds away from Harringay Green Lanes rail entrance. Undoubtedly, the densest Turkish restaurant population in London, if not, the whole planet, including Istanbul itself. I moved to this area in 2005 and my decision was mainly down to the great value restauration and the Mediterranean (Turkish - Cypriot - Greek - Middles Eastern) groceries having grown up on the stuff.
THE RESTAURANT
You can spot the trays of lovely, colourful daily stews from the street as they are displayed in the window. As you enter, the long chilled counter is on your left with a huge menu board overhead. The decor is simple, now repainted a warm yellow and red. Unlike...
