Bruce Lee Story
Advantages: Excellent Movie, Brilliant Acting
Disadvantages: Aparrently not full truth to life
...The Bruce Lee Story
Last night I sat in at watched this movie on TV, I am not very into martial arts but I like life stories so I watched it.
Basic Intro?
It started off as Bruce Lee as a young boy living in china with his father and his father is teaching him how to fight and defend himself in the real world. His father had no choice but to send his son away once he was old enough in order for him to have a better life. So off he went to America where he ended up washing dishes for a living as he was seen very different by the Americans. One day as he was working out in the gym, he was spotted for his moving skills and his fighting skills and was asked to teach the people what he knows. So, he started teaching his fighting moves, it started with 2 boys, then 1 girl, then a huge class. It was this class where he met his wife...

The story of the legend that is Bruce Lee
Advantages: Great actors, good showing of Lee's life
Disadvantages: Parts altered from the truth
...Now,this is not normally the sort of film I would choose to watch, but my partner is a huge fan of Bruce Lee so when this came on the tele over the weekend, I knew I would end up watching it with him. I expected not to like it but I was pleasantly surprised by what a good and informative movie it was, so much so that I felt a bit compelled today to write a review on it. So here is my review of Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story.
Now I expect most of you have heard of Bruce Lee at some point in your lives since he is somewhat of a legend in the Kung-Fu / Martial Arts movie genre. Bruce Lee was a superbly talented Chinese Martial Artist who revolutionised the way Kung fu movies are made, and made them famous in the Western World, where Chinese films and actors had not been prominent before. Bruce made his debut in the US TV Show The Green...

Bruce Lee
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...As a documentary of Bruce Lee's life, this movie probably rates no higher than a C (just take a look at the "goofs" list), but as a testament to Bruce Lee's charisma and will to succeed, it's a solid A. The filmmakers and Bruce's widow, Linda Lee Caldwell, clearly want to portray him in a positive light, but even if you look past the hokier fictional scenes, there's still a remarkable life to witness. Jason Scott Lee and Lauren Holly are an appealing couple, and the supporting cast is solid. It's a peculiar mix: cartoonish kung-fu fight scenes, social commentary as Bruce fights racism to gain acceptance in white America, and most of all the central love story between Bruce and Linda, but together it makes for an entertaining and uplifting movie that I'm fairly certain will please just about any crowd....

Bruce Lee's fighting philosophy
Advantages: You will become the Dragon!
Disadvantages: Well, not really. But I tawt that was a cool thing to say.
...HAI!
Oh, sorry, that was kendo.
YAAA!
Ugh...thats kickboxing.
Wooooo! Waaaaa! Weeee!
Ahha, now thats Jeet Kune Do, and these are my thoughts on Bruce Lee's infamous book -- The Tao of Jeet Kune Do.
I am reading reviews from people that do not perform martial arts, saying they got anything out of this book. Ridiculous. First of all this is not in essense even a complete book. Its a bunch of notes scrapped down as Lee progressed through his Martial Arts training. He never completed his work.
His notes have been categorized in many ways, like 'the attack', 'on defense', 'tools', and etc, but there is no coherent essay nor does he reach any conclusions. He never had the time to put everything...

Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, but didn't in this DVD
Advantages: Footage of Lee in action
Disadvantages: not a great deal of information of Jeet Kune Do
...Bruce Lee - Jeet Kune Do
An Average DVD of a more than average man.
I expected a lot more from this DVD, about Jeet Kune Do, for those who haven't a clue as to what I'm on about, Jeet Kune Do, is a form of martial art, that Bruce Lee, not only perfected, but pretty much made it his own.
Sadly missed by millions after his untimely death, Bruce Lee was probably the best martial arts expert the World has ever known and will know.
This DVD however, is mainly made up from clips of movies, with a few short interviews from Lee, again which are mainly from earlier broadcasted programmes, and nothing that most of us have not seen before.
There is however some historical information, included concerning the origins of Jeet Kune Do, and a few rare shots of personal training sessions with Lee and his number one student Dan Inosanta, but...

Bruce Lee-thal!
Advantages: Supreme martial arts choreography, humourous and most memorable final fight scene.
Disadvantages: If I HAD to nitpick, I suppose the comedy is quite basic
...The Martial Arts genre has, ever since I started watching movies, been at the very top in my mind and has never lost its place to any other type of movie. My heart was stolen the first minute I watched Enter the Dragon, starring Bruce Lee, when I was 4 years old. It's an 18 certificate movie, but my parents were far from strict about prohibiting me from watching films of a violent nature. As I watched Bruce kick and punch his enemies all over the place without taking a hit, I knew I had found my hero. Within 6 months, my father had purchased all of Bruce's blockbusters for me, and over the last 20 years I have watched them all countless times and never lost an iota of enthusiasm for any. However, there is one film that surpasses the rest in storyline and quality of fight sequences and that is Way of The Dragon.

A true legend never to be forgotten
Advantages: Nice insight into parts of his life
Disadvantages: Not really long enough to go into alot of detail
...If you've never heard of Bruce Lee then frankly you must have been living under a rock for the past 40 odd years, Bruce Lee was to martial arts what Elvis Presley and The Beatles were the modern music. His impact of the world of martial arts was unprecedented and since his legacy no one has ever managed to replicate the mammoth success that he had. Without Bruce Lee there would be no Jackie Chan or Jet Li as he managed to change the way people see martial arts around the world. He single handedly brought martial arts into mainstream Hollywood and made it more accessible for everybody across the world to become captivated in not just his style of Kung Fu but in hundreds of styles of different martial arts across the globe.
Bruce Lee was born on the 27th November 1940 in America yet all his family were of Chinese origin. He started...

The Dragon breathes on!
Advantages: Excellent cast, great fights and conveys a great deal of realism.
Disadvantages: Some fabricated events.
...In the wake of Bruce Lee's untimely death back in 1973, Chinese film companies cashed in on his name and produced a bucketload of films to dramatise his life. These films, which boast daft titles such as 'Bruce Lee Fights back from the grave', 'Bruce's Fist of Vengeance','The True Game of Death' and 'The Real Bruce Lee' are well known as Bruceploitation films, and they starred equally ridiculous main stars like Bruce Li, Bruce Le, Bruce Leung and Dragon Lee. These films were created on the back of various theories behind his death. Officially Bruce Lee, the greatest oriental Martial Arts star of all time, died of a cerebral oedema (brain swelling), as an allergic reaction to a painkiller, however various myths came to light that he had faked his death to go into hiding, or had died of a delayed ninja death touch, or that the painkiller...

Bruce Lee The Ultimate Dragon
Advantages: Good Films
Disadvantages: none
...Bruce Lee……The Ultimate Dragon!!
-------------------------------
My favourite film by Bruce Lee is Enter The Dragon, It's his best film of the series of films he made. I want to discuss a bit about Bruce as well and I hope this doesn't make this in the wrong category, if it is I will get it moved...
It was between the years of 1974-75 that Bruce Lee became really big, it was the Kung Fu phase and everyone was watching it. It all started with the weekly Kung Fu series starring David Carradine, now if ever a guy needed to get a life it was the character that was “Grasshopper” in Kung Fu..
Anyway back to the master that was Bruce Lee, the guy that could stand straight while slowly lifting one leg until it was level with his stomach. I remember watching him doing this in “ Enter the Dragon”...

Big Boss - Bruce's Lee's spotlight
Advantages: Bruce Lee, gory but funny fight scenes, some interesting extras, remastered picture and sound
Disadvantages: You can tell that Lee didn't direct this.
...This film was Bruce Lee's first starring role in a Hong Kong action film. He gained this role after his success in the American market with support roles in Green Hornet, Ironside and Long Street. Although this is my least favourite Lee film, it is still a worthwhile investment.
In this film, Lee plays the character Cheng, a country bumpkin type who leaves China to earn a living in Thailand. He is looked after by his uncle and accepted in to their family. A central aspect of this film is that Lee is forbidden from fighting as a result of a promise made to his father which is unseen. This means surprisingly that Lee doesn't kick into action until about 30 minutes into the film. Of course being an early 1970's film, this one is full of the usual cliches; over acting, shaky sets, bad soundtracks and dodgy editing cuts BUT it does...
