Pleasant flight with Royal Brunei

Advantages: flight times, good seating
Disadvantages: could be more toilets on the Boeing 767 of RBA

...Flew with Royal Brunei in August 2007 from London to Brunei and return. Check in at Heathrow handled by Aviance well organised. They also have some of their own staff in RBA uniform handling the operation alongside Aviance. I got a fast track through security however the queues looked very long and I felt very sorry for those who had to stand in line. Waited at gate for around 30-40 minutes before boarding, which is done row-by-row from the front to the back of the aircraft. Once onboard the pilot notified us of a 15 minute delay due to congestion which is very normal at peak time for Heathrow (9:40 in the morning). We began taxying and then stopped at the runway where we waited for about 10 (yes, 10) other planes to tkae off before us. Once we took off the entertainment system started. Brunei Darussalam - the abode of peace

Advantages: a good place to visit
Disadvantages: not a great deal of attractions

...Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei Darussalam is a very interesting place to visit. Most people arrive by air and the well appointed airport is only 15 minutes from the city. Most hotels will provide a transfer, with exception of the only true budget option which is the local youth hostel. Apart from that you can expect to pay in excess of 25 pounds per night, with prices rising to hundred of pounds for the empire resort. There asre buses from the airport to the central bus stand in the city but they are infrequent, although cheap at $1 (brunei dollar). Transport in the city is fairly efficient and in fact rarely needed, as its so small. As an avid walker i found i could get anywhere by foot. ...I flew between London and Perth (Western Australia) in April 2000 and used Royal Brunei as the carrier. Admittedly my only criteria in booking with them were a) the price of the ticket - which was substantially lower than anything else available at the time; b) the schedule - the timing of the flights matched my availability to perfection. I wasn't expecting a lot for the price and people had told me that the service was fairly basic. I was generally happy with the flight and the cabin crew - bearing in mind that this is a truly Islamic airline and serve no alcohol (but they don't stop you bringing your own if you really must imbibe) - I found it quite refreshing not to see a single over-indulgent sop making a fool of themselves. I had requested vegetarian meals and these were provided without any fuss on every leg...

RoyalBrunei bargain business class

Advantages: Great value
Disadvantages: No alcohol, but you can take your own in Business Class

...I was interested to read other opinions on Royal Brunei Airlines and thought that I would add mine as I was most impressed by them. I was due to fly to Oz from London in April and having travelled economy Down Under previously I said to myself never again! I decided to treat myself for once and set about searching for a good value business class flight on the net and found Royal Brunei.As business class to Australia can be anything from £3000 upwards the cost of the return flight at £1600 seemed to be a bargain. I didn't really know what to expect , having never flown business in my life but can honestly say it was the best money I have ever spent on air travel. ...I went on Royal Brunei Airlines flying from London to dubai. At least I thought that I was going to Dubai instead they told us just before we left that we would be going to Abu Dhabi instead, this was to do with Royal Brunei. I did not really find the trip that enjoyable because the seats were not very comfortable and the films were a bit boring. The best part of the trip was the song that they sing every twenty minutes, it comes up on the screen singing " Royal Brunei offers Asia's best . . ." It is very funny but it can get a bit repetitive. The actual flying part of it, I have no complaints about. It was very enjoyable. Its most popular route is to Dubai and it is increasing in popularity....

Brunei???...Be different...

Advantages: Very affordable, Clean, Safe and beaches
Disadvantages: Not so much nightlife available

...I am disappointed with the review made by the people above...needless to say I am a bruneian so before i start, i must say i will try not to be biased!!!... For me holiday is a time when we can spent doing activities that we usually do not have time to pursue. So there are trips for partying, shopping and relaxing. If what you are looking for is drunken nights and partying at the clubs then you might as well do not bother coming to brunei. What you can do is to change your destination to...Ibiza, perhaps?... I mean if what you are looking in a country of your holiday is the availability of alcohol then Brunei is definitely not the suitable holiday destination. Don't you find it boring to see stuff that you can see back home? What I am trying to say is Brunei might not have the drinks and not a shopping heaven like SIngapore...

Brunei's Dry Capital

...Bandar Seri begawan in Brunei Darusslam is every bit as interesting as watching paint dry. If you are looking for excitement and have insomnia do not even go anywhere near it. Nothing happens in Bandar Seri begawan after 9.00pm. Everyone is at home watching satellite television, which leaves you, the visitor, wondering what to do besides walk around the deserted streets. Don't expect any pubs, clubs or entertainment outlets as Brunei is a dry country in every sense of the word. In terms of attractions (during the day) that the visitor could, I suppose kill time at, is the museum and ...not much else. At night there is the possibility of going to Jerudong park, which even I have to admit is a first class theme park. A little warning about this ariline

Disadvantages: They are not cheap, but act like a budget airline.

...The other day I flew from Perth to Brunei & the staff told us a new policy had been put in place which took effect on 1 Jan 2009. The policy strictly enforced the 20kg check-in baggage rule. Although 20kg has always been the standard check-in allowance, every other airline accepts a kg or two over & they don't usually start charging you till 25kg. However, Royal Brunei were even charging people for part of a kg. For example, if your luggage weighed 20.7kg you were charged for 1kg. Now here's the good bit...the excess baggage charges were AUS$32/kg to Brunei & AUS$75 to London!! I live overseas & therefore do a lot of travelling & never have I been charged from 20kg & NEVER have I paid so much in excess baggage. On Malaysian airlines it's about $20/kg & on AirAsia X (which is a budget airline) it's only $5/kg. I was told by an airport...
