...Rubbish! We bought the twin handset version from Tesco. Despite fully charging the batteries of both handsets and standing within a foot (30 cm) of the base unit, callers complained they could hardly hear us; if we increased the handset volume (which one had to do with every call - you couldn't pre-set it) the distortion became almost impossible at both ends. Hate to think how poor the quality would have been at any distance from the base. We took them back to Tesco within a week of purchase and got a full refund. We subsequently wondered if the discounted price ( c £37) was because they were poor quality, but BT still sell them at full list and Tesco prices are also now back up to £50+. Advantages: Big buttons, easy to use
Disadvantages: Answerphone doesn't keep time

...The phone is very straightforward. The phone book is logical to use and easy to select. The buttons are of a good size and press well. The feel of the phone in the hand is nice, it's contoured and is comfortable to hold to the ear, although not to hold with your shoulder (but we shouldn't do that should we!) The clarity is very good, but I'm never further than about 10m from the base, although it is an old building and we have some thick walls. I'm very happy with the phone? The answerphone on the other hand is not quite so good. The answerphone is in the base and again has nice clear logical buttons. The clarity of message is clear, so what's my problem you ask? ...This is a great phone. The functions are easy to use and it is good looking, compact and stylish. We've got another BT phone with answerphone that we have had for 12 years and still works so hopefully these will last the same length of time! A Binatone phone with speaker phone only lasted a few years - the speaker phone was never clear either so we weren't interested in having that again and decided to opt for a BT one again albeit with no speaker phone. The receiver is very light and is comfortable to hold for long calls. You can easily programme names and numbers into the address book without having to struggle with the manual. The answerphone too is easy to use and is very clear....

Disadvantages: totally unreliable.

...From our experience with BT they seem to have a policy of treating customers with utter contempt. Since we had our BT line installed last summer we've had constant problems with the phone line. About 5-6 times the line has cut off, gone completely dead. Even when it was working there was constant interference on the line. Calling BT (very expensive if you're forced to use a mobile) usually takes the best part of an hour to get through to a human being, at which point they will tell you there's nothing wrong with the line and it must be your fault. Eventually (after having been put through to countless different people) they agree to send someone out to fix it.. but we're usually left without a working phone for a week, there is no apology or explanation for why the line was cut off in the first place, and no refund for the money they...

Bt Aqua phone

...I bought the Bt cordless Aqua phone a few Months ago. At first I was very sceptical, I had owned a Bt phone in the past & it lasted less than 12 Months. I hadnt had another BT since. But I plumped for it. I liked the look & it had the kind of features I needed. On the whole I am very pleasently surprised. It has a seperate base unit, which plugs into your phone line. Although this is quite large for what youd expect it to be, its about 15 cm high. But the main benefit of it is you can put it next to the phone line, then you can put the handsets anywhere in your house there is a power supply. It means theres no main phone handset, they are all the same phones, with small bases. So if you want the main phone on the other side of the room to your phone socket, bingo, you can. No being tied to your phone socket or trailing wires...

At the time that they were bought they looked smart and stylish. I bought them in white as they were on offer at around £70.00 at my local BT shop in the City Centre.
