Angels sent by the Devil
Advantages: Lots of features, good sound quality, looks great.
Disadvantages: It's a phone.
...distanced yourself from to pick up their devil stick and be instantly connected with your ear?
Devils Cup
Worse than phones, however, are phones that try their best not to work for you. Having spent most of my adult life (one to four years depending on where your starting from) with a really crappy phone, I decided to drop some hints that I really wanted a new set of house phones for Christmas. Not only did this serve to make me feel really bloody old (gone are the days of being happy with a tub of fun coloured goo, it seems) it also served to get me phones for Christmas! Huzzah!
Christmas time, ring tones and wine
Ripping through the bright and gaudy fun that is Christmas paper, I was presented with a twin pack of BT Graphite 1100?s. You can get the g1100?s in anything from a one pack (£27) to a four pack (£73) depending on how...

BT HOME HUB
Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: despite technical language (thankful for pictures)
...Bt home hub is an innovative idea to bring together all computers, phones, faxes etc through one small box. It can also be connected to your answering machine and house alarm systems.
It allows you to have a wireless connection to broadband through a USB connection that you put into your computer. Although the instruction booklet you get with it is full of technical language there is easy to follow pictures, so even if your rubbish with technology you should be able to set it up by yourself. They do have technical support should you require it.
You can access broadband in many places throughout the UK and Ireland. Anywhere where you see a BT openzone sign such as British Airways Airport Lounges, which is great if your often away on business. It means you can keep working right up until you board the aircraft. As part...

BT phone line.
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: totally unreliable.
...From our experience with BT they seem to have a policy of treating customers with utter contempt. Since we had our BT line installed last summer we've had constant problems with the phone line. About 5-6 times the line has cut off, gone completely dead. Even when it was working there was constant interference on the line. Calling BT (very expensive if you're forced to use a mobile) usually takes the best part of an hour to get through to a human being, at which point they will tell you there's nothing wrong with the line and it must be your fault. Eventually (after having been put through to countless different people) they agree to send someone out to fix it.. but we're usually left without a working phone for a week, there is no apology or explanation for why the line was cut off in the first place, and no refund for the money they...

BT - How They Continue To Operate I Don't Know
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Lengthy On Hold Periods, Rubbish Customer Service, Do Not Maintain Promises
...For the first 10 months as a customer of British Telecommunications (BT) I had no complaints. The service was installed (for a price of £125) and I paid for the line rental only on a quarterly direct debit of £33 per quarter. In the 10th month I moved house and applied to BT for a Home Move ? the service which automatically reconnects your current account to your new address with minimal upheaval.
The website claims ?We can arrange the transfer of your BT Broadband and BT phone line with one simple call. We'll also transfer your BT Calling Plan and any BT Calling Features to your new address automatically so you won't miss out on any services.?
I can confirm that;
*They cannot arrange the transfer of your BT phone line with one simple call.
*They cannot transfer your BT Calling plan to your new address automatically so you won...

does bt stand for bloomin terrible
Advantages: speedy sign up
Disadvantages: poor line quality
...B.T.!
These initials are supposed to represent the most reliable, stable and efficient British telecommunications company in the UK today, or so its advertising and reputation from years gone by would have you believe.
Having been a happy customer of Telewest (cable) for the past two years, i decided to switch to BT as they were offering BT Surftime, which allowed me to pay £14.99 a month for which i would recieve the following services: Phone Line Rental, Free answering service, itemised billing and unlimited internet surftime all evenings (after 6pm) and weekends.
At the time my cable company were charging £10 a month for the above with the exception of the unlimited free internet access which would cost me an additional 1p per minute time spent online.
Bt also offered another package which would allow me all of the above...

BT Haven't Got A Clue
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: misleading literature, bad customer service
...After having problems with my telephone / broadband / television provider i decided it was time for a change.
I had been with with BT before when i first moved into my house and basically I just had a landline then and later added BT Broadband. My television service was from sky, the invoices that i was receiving at that particular time were equating to over £100 a month, thats why i left initially.
I received some literature in the post from BT advising of their new phone, broadband and television package which was all for a flat fee of £30 per month and if i subscribed during the month they would give me a free BT Homehub which i thought was a fantastic deal so my first thought was to get it changed as soon as possible.
It advised on the literature to take advantage of the offer please ring a certain 0880 number which i did. I...

BT : 'Now That's What I Call Broadband!'
Advantages: Free wireless router and phone, fast and reliable, excellent technical support, value for money!
Disadvantages: Too many options to speak to someone on the phone.
...I signed up to BT Broadband on the 4th February 2007. Having ordered it through the Internet on the 30th January 2007, I was really impressed with the general service of BT. I signed up to a wireless package, that offered me a free wireless router, worth £50, for £14.99 for the first three months, after the initial three months this then rises to £22.99 a month. If you pay by direct debit, every month, you get a £1 discount every month so in affect your paying £21.99 after your initial three months at £14.99.
I was really impressed with how quick everything was sorted out. Three days after I signed up I received my free wireless BT home hub through the post via Royal Mail Special Delivery. This then gave me three days to wire the router up and remove my old speedtouch modem from my computer. My internet was activated on the 4th...

FREE FROM BT
Advantages: Free - and a voice which sounds much nicer than mine!
Disadvantages: Cannot personalise your settings.
...BT Answer, a FREE service, yes, FREE.
Have you thought of buying an answering machine? Answering machines are really useful, and we have used one for years, but ours finally went wrong a couple of months ago. Faced with a bewildering choice of new machines, we did nothing, which in retrospect was the right thing to do!
So, when I logged on to BT.com and saw their new service, BT Answer, advertised as a free service, I decided to give it a try. So far I am pleased with it, I know if I am on the Internet (which is often), or if I am out of the house or engaged on another call, incoming calls will be answered with a professional greeting and the caller can opt to leave me a message if they wish to do so.
I can still use the last number called service 1471, and if I do have any messages I can tell by listening to the dial tone...

BT set the standards
Advantages: good service
Disadvantages: had problems of late
...I have been with BT for the last year, ever since it became cheaper whereby you could surf the web from 6pm to 8am five days a week and the weekend all day and night. I found this particularly helpful as it suited my needs. I am mostly out during the day, so I don’t need the Internet 24/7 but I do tend to use it in the evenings.
When I was with Force nine like many ISP it was charging by the minute and though 1p a minute does not sound a lot it soon adds up. You have to pay via a credit card, but now they have changed it so you can have the amount added onto your phone inorder to use this ISP, with it you get a e-mail address and the ability to go on the Internet without worrying about the bill. It only costs £10 a month.
I have relatively few problems, on the whole the connection speed is good, but sometimes can have it...

BT Customer Services
Advantages: Good fast service
Disadvantages: None
...confirmed there was a local network problem with my line and I was informed the problem would be passed on to an engineer to be dealt with.
I was given the timetable of 5 days for this problem to be fixed. Also, I was given the option of having all incoming calls rerouted to a mobile phone number at no extra cost, a nice touch. As the problem was only crackling on the line I decided against this action and so was given the option for incoming callers to hear a warning that the line was faulty. Again I turned this option down, voice calls were not too bad it was Internet calls that were worst affected. I was given a phone number to call to check the process of the repair of my problem and told the Engineer would be around soon.
I made the first call to the BT faulty line number on Monday evening, the 5 day response time I was given meant...
