...From our experience with BT they seem to have a policy of treating customers with utter contempt. Since we had our BT line installed last summer we've had constant problems with the phone line. About 5-6 times the line has cut off, gone completely dead. Even when it was working there was constant interference on the line. Calling BT (very expensive if you're forced to use a mobile) usually takes the best part of an hour to get through to a human being, at which point they will tell you there's nothing wrong with the line and it must be your fault. Eventually (after having been put through to countless different people) they agree to send someone out to fix it.. but we're usually left without a working phone for a week, there is no apology or explanation for why the line was cut off in the first place, and no refund for the money they...

BT Phone Home

Advantages: Neat, looks great, has everything you'd expect from a digital cordless phone.
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest on the market.

BT phone home

Advantages: sleek, shiny, lots of features
Disadvantages: don't mix it up with the TV remote

...I have been using an old combination phone/answermachine from the BT shop for the last 7 or 8 years & it has been playing up a lot. Since i switched to broadband the phone has to be unplugged & replugged in order to get a dial tone & nobody can dial in. As you can imagine this is quite frustrating but being a bit lazy i put up with it and made people ring me on my mobile all the time. I have now finally got around to replacing it with a BT freestyle 250 cordless & all my problems have been solved. We were in John Lewis having a potter around & being a man i wandered into the electrical department. There was a very wide range of phones on display so i worked my way round to the 'under £40' section - Lets face it, i have lived without a landline for years so there's no way i was going to spend £100 on one. Bt Aqua phone

Advantages: Great design, Good quality phone with great features & clarity, along with an answerphone
Disadvantages: price, mine has rang when I put it down, but only a couple of times.

...I bought the Bt cordless Aqua phone a few Months ago. At first I was very sceptical, I had owned a Bt phone in the past & it lasted less than 12 Months. I hadnt had another BT since. But I plumped for it. I liked the look & it had the kind of features I needed. On the whole I am very pleasently surprised. It has a seperate base unit, which plugs into your phone line. Although this is quite large for what youd expect it to be, its about 15 cm high. But the main benefit of it is you can put it next to the phone line, then you can put the handsets anywhere in your house there is a power supply. It means theres no main phone handset, they are all the same phones, with small bases. So if you want the main phone on the other side of the room to your phone socket, bingo, you can. No being tied to your phone socket or trailing wires...

If you get the BT Home Hub to pair up with the Phone you can get cheaper call on land line and mobile. I have had the phone for some time now and I make all calls through the Hub Phone to save money. The Hub Phone's appearance is sleek and stylish unlike the other black-brick cordless phones. There are also no annoying aerials and the sound is perfect as long as you are with-in 200m of the Hub. The main base has to be near both a phone socket and an electrical socket, I have mine hidden behind some drawers. The phone bases can be plugged in anywhere in the house. The phones are cordless and it is recommended that they do spend the entirity charging which is great. You are able to have different ring tones for the base and the phones, there are a number of ringtones available buit you are not abale to attach you own like possible with a mobile phone. The phones can store a number of phone numbers and names, the information can be sent to the other phone so the data does not have to inputted twice. BT total broadband and phone line package

Advantages: good range of up to date services, wireless, future proof, great customer services, no hassle
Disadvantages: took a while to get connected but happened without fault and BB went on 4 days early

...I switched back to BT a couple of months ago as I couldnt cope with the incompetence of NTL any longer. I have to say its the best move I ever made. They said it would take a week to activate the phone line which I thought was a bit slow. The date came and I picked the phone up to hear a dialling tone at 9am and was on the package I ordered. I got a text message on my mobile to say the service had been connected at 12pm which I was pleasantly surprised at. I realised the day after that the 1571 answerphone hadnt been activated when I rung it. I got an automated system with which I could request the service and when I followed the easy to use menus was told it would be activated within 5 days.
