HONDA JAZZ 1.4 SE CVT-7. AUTOMATICALLY BETTER?
Advantages: Great Transmission. Smooth Engine. Low Running Costs. Hugely Spacious Interior. Build Quality.
Disadvantages: Messy Dashboard Styling. Uninspiring Exterior Styling.
...WHAT IS IT?
The Jazz is Honda's entry into the highly contested and ever popular "supermini" market. It is a five door hatchback, a very simple range to choose from as there are no variants; saloon, convertible etc, all Jazz models therefore share the same "two box" styling. For those of you to whom it may be important, the dimensions are as follows:
Length 3845mm x Width 1878mm x Height 1525mm.
It is therefore a fairly short, yet wide and tall small car, having a tardis affect inside where it seems much larger than you would think looking at the car sitting next to the pavement.
There are any number of competitors from Japanese, Korean and European countries, probably its' most likely competition can be found in the form of the Ford Fiesta, Mitsubishi Colt, Nissan Micra and Vauxhall Corsa, all of which offer a much larger...

Jazz up your motoring
Advantages: space, comfort, flexibility, fuel economy
Disadvantages: absolutely none for me
...Having endured a horrifying M5 breakdown in my 5 year old Escort not long ago, I decided the time was right for a new car. And I wanted brand new, in the hope that I would be guaranteed a few years trouble-free motoring (and hopefully no sudden expenses) with a good warranty and some peace of mind.
In my new car, I wanted the following features:
Light and easy to drive
Comfortable seating and leg room in the back
Fuel economy
A good sounding stereo
Affordable insurance
Quiet and reasonably powerful engine
Safety
Good looks
Flexibility (i.e. can take large packages/suitcases etc when necessary)
A make with a strong reputation for reliability
Extra gizmos
Under (preferably considerably under) £10,000
A lot to ask? Yes, but then along came the Honda Jazz?
Criteria 1: Light and easy to drive
My Honda Jazz drives...

All that Jazz
Advantages: Very very clever package
Disadvantages: almost none
...”.
Cute? What the bloody hell does that mean? I’ll tell you what it means. It means I can’t bloody win, that’s what “Cute” means. Even if I get everything else perfect, she can always get me by quoting the “Cute” amendment. “Yes dear, it may be all those things and it may be quicker than a very quick thing but it just isn’t cute”.
Bugger.
So, I looked at the little Polo Diesel and the Mini One. The only other car that caught my eye was, the Honda Jazz. The Polo does it on economy and build quality, the Mini One on “cute” and the Honda ‘cos I think it’s dead clever.
Anyway I took my lovely lady to view all three one Sunday afternoon in May. The Polo didn’t even get a test drive. She sat in it and immediately pronounced it “...

Jazz Cafe - Charming, Unpretentious and Worth a Visit!
Advantages: Good Food, Nice Atmosphere and Lively
Disadvantages: Can be a little pricey...
...If you've been to Bath, or live there as I do, you'll have noticed that prices are high and getting decent ordinary, unpretentious food can be an obstacle if you want to sit somewhere nice indoors. The Jazz Cafe sets to remedy this by giving us the option of siting in an atmospheric environment and eating some lovely grub for a reasonable price.
Food And Drink
You can eat and drink all sorts of things here. The breakfasts range from various things on toast (including eggs) and light bites to the Jazz Cafe Breakfast - which is a double the usual size full English. That'll sort you out for a day walking around Bath! The quality of meat is good, the bacon's thick and the sausages taste really nice. The cooked breakfasts come with two enormous pieces of toast, beans, egg and - get this - REAL mushrooms! Not tinned! The Full...

Honda jazz 2003-2008
Advantages: Great economy and excellent interior space
Disadvantages: Plain exterior design
...The Honda Jazz is a very fun car, its small and easy to park and the interior design has been well thought out, the space is utilised very well, its almost a small wagon with the seats all folding away and creating a large area to carry things around town, I have noticed a few cases of the CVT transmission developing shuddering when taking off and slight oil leaks from the sump in some cases. Im very impressed with this car, and with the new model now released im sure we will not be dissapointed. Its an all round great town car with many uses, and excellent fuel economy, and they are a reasonably priced vehicle. I have driven the sport model and these are a step up in looks. This cars interior design of the dash was upgraded at some point with nice sterio and speedo design. In my opinion the car will not let you down in reliability...

Time to jazz things up a little
Advantages: loads of fun
Disadvantages: expensive for a small car
...Having been a Big Car driver for many years, I decided a year ago this week to become more environmentally friendly.
Looking for something a little less staid than the Saab, Merc and Rover 75 that had been my previous three cars, the five door Honda Jazz caught my attention by jumping up and down excitedly on the forecourt whenever I drove by. I had to have it because it made me feel so happy. I even like the brand name. It's high safety spec, (special mention given to Honda's award for pedestrian safety) and solid security features galvanised me into the decision.
This is a little car, tiny in fact, on the outside. I'm almost five feet tall and I can reach across the roof to wash it! It has curved lines with a little snub nose and the girls and I think that from the front it looks like a little cat.
Get inside though...

The new jazz, what a lovely car
Advantages: To many to list, but you can see all of road, get in 1 and you will see what i mean
Disadvantages: at the momment i can not find any (and boy have i looked)
...The wifes peugeot 307 was getting a bit old, and needless to say getting a bit dangerous so started to look around for something for about 12k + the banger.
first looked at the focus, well out of price range, then the new fiesta, looked lovely but could only get a tea cup in the back which for a family car is no good, plus anything else you wanted i.e. back disk brakes, were all extras so boosting up the price. So looked on top gear in that range and said I was better of getting a honda jazz, so had a look. I was smitten straight away nearly everything that was extra on the fiesta was standard on the honda plus with the ES version you had i-shift which is either automatic or what they call i-shift manual with or without paddles on the stearing wheel (just like the f1 ferrari) without a clutch. The amount of space in the car is amazing...

A History of Jazz
Advantages: Fantastic
Disadvantages: There are none
...A History of Jazz just has got to be one of the most comprehensive programmes on the history of jazz that I have ever come across.
It is subtitled Bluesland A portrait In American Music. It shows the very heavy Blues influence on the original forms of jazz.
The first section is called: Everybody got the Blues. It starts with a haunting Blues refrain, as the camera look along some railroad tracks to some plaintive blues music. The camera then shows some typical scenes of life in the south of America. A steam train, black people working on the farms and playing and singing the blues.
Then, comes the introduction to the programme, proper, by the host, Keith David, with Albert Murray and Robert Palmer.
Keith David points out that everyone gets the blues, and that everyone develops methods of coping with the blues. His favourite...

JAZZ IT UP
Advantages: A great weekend, free events, attracts many big artists.
Disadvantages: It may rain!
...One of my best memories of summer 2001 was going to the Brecon Jazz Festival whilst I was working at a summer camp nearby.
The Brecon Jazz festival is renowned all over Europe and attracts big names such as Van Morrison and the Bootleg Beatles. There are loads of indoor concerts for which you need tickets, which can be expensive and sell out quickly. The town is transformed for the long weekend, all traffic is banned from the city centre and loads of marquees are put up.
As well as the paying events, there is loads going on for the rest of us who want to join in the fun (but are either skint or not willing to pay to listen to jazz).
In George Square there is a stage where bands play for free. The night I went there was a brass band (similar to Blues Brothers music). They were brilliant and really interesting to watch with all...

Fender standard jazz!
Advantages: Very versatile, excellent quality
Disadvantages: More expensive than the standard precision
...guitar store will fix this if you can't do it yourself.
Again like most fenders there is hardlty any difference between american and mexican guitars. I tried both and seemed a waste to spend double the amount when there was not much difference. It is a lot better than the squire bass though.
I used to own a fender standard precision bass but the jazz completely beats that, being a lot more versatile and easier to play i prefer it, but still make sure you try both out!
Mine is midnight wine with white pickguard, rosewood neck, and it is lovely, so give it a go and see what you think!...
