Reviews of buffalo linkstation pro
Wouldn't be without it
Review of Buffalo LinkStation Live HS-DH500GL by
smileandnod
Advantages: Quiet, fast, small, easy to set up, easy to use
Disadvantages: Err.......
...I bought this unit as I have two desktop PCs and a laptop, my wife has a laptop, and our lodger has a laptop, and we need a central backup and sharing location
The linkstation arrived on a rainy Saturday afternoon, which was perfect, as it gave me an excuse to set it up straight away.
Having several PCs and laptops around (self employed IT consultant) I found myself in need of a suitable backup solution, which would also allow me to have a shared storage area, so I can use which ever pc is handiest for whatever job I am working on. In addition to this, we have an ever growing music collection, and it made sense to put it all together on one disk.
My wife and I also share certain documents, so it would be handy to use for that also.
Opening the box I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the linkstation is no bigger than...

Network 2TB Buffalo RAID drive array
Review of Buffalo TeraStation Pro II TS-H2.0TGL/R5 by
biggles5
Advantages: Solid, feature packed, easy to use
Disadvantages: Not as fast as direct attached storage, plus a little noisy.
...I have been using my Buffalo (called 'Bertie'!) for over 4 months now, and it has worked very well indeed. Bertie is connected to my gigabit switch and is accessed by 4 other computers, and it also hosts a file sharing site too. The drive sits in a Windows environment, and is very easy to connect up. After a 15 second boot process, you access the features of the drive through a browser. All the usual tools for network drives are there, plus some seriously useful user permissions, and trashcan tools. It has hot swappable drives too (I bought a spare just in case), but this sold beast I feel will never breakdown. It's not the quietest drive in the world, but this is a minor annoyance. The actual data transfer over the network is not as fast as directly attached storage, but the benefits of using a network far out weigh this. When I need...

Review of Buffalo Terastation HD-H1.0TGL/R5 by
kenhutchings1979
Advantages: Small, Capacity, Ease of use, Setup
Disadvantages: None as yet!
...Having had one of these running for 12 months now I can safely say - it works.
Having taken delivery at 10am the system was up, running and eating files before 10:30. Just plug it in and your users can navigate to it through windows explorer. I know that it is compatible with MACS but as yet I have not had one access it so on this I cannot comment.
It has an amazing facility for NAS (Network Attatched Storage) - a trash box. With windows based solutions this is not always available and oince something is deleted - its gone. With the terastation this is no problem, each drive has its own trash can and files are deposited into it in the same folder structure as they were deleted so they are incredibly easy to find.
Browser based control panel is easy to use and offers 100% control of the system. Buffalo support is excellent...

A drop of Chianti Mmmm
Review of Silence Of The Lambs DVD by
gill1960
Advantages: mind provoking
Disadvantages: scary
...reaches buffalo Bills house alone and confronts him.
Find out about the moths and where was Dr. Lecter, what happened to Catherine and agent starling.by watching the film.
The acting in this film is absolutely superb. Anthony Hopkins does a supreme job of terrifying you.
This psychological thriller really does intensify your imagination from start to finish.
It didn’t just make you think it made you realise how a human brain can work.
There was in my opinion no special sound effects it was all down to pure professional acting.
Sayings and phrases from the film:-
He's a monster. Pure psychopath. It's so rare to capture one alive
I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chi-an-ti.
Quid pro quo, Doctor
What became of your lamb, Clarice
I do wish we could chat longer, but I'm having an old friend for dinner. Bye.
You can...

Have the Lambs stopped screaming Clarice?
Review of Silence Of The Lambs DVD by
badgirl99
Advantages: Edge of your seat thriller - and of course - Jodie Foster
Disadvantages: Not for the faint hearted!!
...(otherwise known as Buffalo Bill) is at large having kidnapped the Senator's daughter (Catherine). The Head of the FBI - Jack Crawford then sends young Clarice Starling to talk to the imprisonned cannibal - Dr. Hannibal Lecter to see if he can help. Nobody really expects him to talk but as the film goes on, he agrees to help Clarice on the condition that she tells him about her painful past "Quid Pro Quo Clarice". The problem is - does he help in time to save Catherine's life?
For me, everything about this movie is excellent. The story is so intelligently written and enhanced by fantastic acting - an oscar each for Foster and Hopkins (best actress and actor, respectively) says it all. Jonathan Demme's direction is excellent as he deliberately chose that during most of the conversations, the actors' faces be zoomed into so that the audience...

Hunter S Thompson Compilation - Loving It!
Review of Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas / Where The Buffalo Roam DVD by
woof45
Advantages: Both great films that do relate to each other
Disadvantages: Some might not like the comparison of Depp and Murray
...I bought this the other week to go with the rest of my Fear and Loathing Merchandise and to be honest both films are as good as each other.
Its without a doubt one of Bill Murray's best performances in Where the Buffalo Roam, telling the story of Hunter S Thompson incorporating some great Thompson moments however it is at a disadvantage of having the comparison alongside it with Johnny Depp in Fear and Loathing as Raoul Duke/Thompson.
I mean Johnny Depp really does play the part extremely well but you've got to remember that Where the Buffalo Roam was released 18 years earlier and so Bill Murray plays Thompson well before the Depp days of Terry Gilliam directed Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
To be honest its one of the best mixed box sets I've ever bought and I admittedly enjoyed both films as much as each other,
Peter Boyle plays...

Make mine a Manhattan.
Review of Buffalo Trace Bourbon by
hukerjohn
Advantages: Great mixing boubon
Disadvantages: None really.
...--Buffalo Trace Bourbon--
Buffalo Trace is from Franklin County in Kentucky and has been around since 1775. They have won oodles of awards over the years, not only for Buffalo Trace but also a number of the other bourbons they now produce. Including Hancocks, George T. Stagg, Rip Van Winkle, Elmer T. Lee, Rock Hill Farms and Sazerac. Buffalo Trace alone has won 17 awards over the last 7 years. Not bad.
-What is a buffalo Trace?-
A buffalo trace is just as it sounds. It is the trail left behind after a huge number of buffalo have migrated. The bourbon is named after one particular trace called the Great Buffalo Trace which was where millions of Buffalo cut a pathway through to the West and the Great Plains. Leaving explorers to follow and settle on the banks of the Kentucky River.
-Bourbon-
Bourbon is an American spirit...

The funkiest Boots ever
Review of Buffalo (Shop) by
Pelotas
Advantages: Funky, trendy Boots that go with anything
Disadvantages: Expensive
...I´m sure most people have heard of 'Buffalos' by now. They are the funky, chunky boots made famous by the spice girls and they are boots for women with attitude!!
I´m sure lots of people disagree and find this type of footwear not to their taste, but for me, they are fantastic footwear which have been around for almost six or seven years now. The only bad thing is the price. Unfortunately they retail for around £80 a pair but the quality is very high as they are handmade in Spain.
For those of you not familiar with Buffalo boots they are the ones you see alot of girls and women between the ages of 15 and 30 wearing in the streets alot of the time. They have a chunky 'tractor tyre' type sole, come in lots of different colours such as red, patent black, white, pink, baby blue and gold and are really comfy as well.
Personally I have...

Good, but could get expensive!
Review of Buffalo AirStation G54 WLI-CB-G54HP by
ManWithHabits
Advantages: Amplified signal
Disadvantages: Will most likely need an external antenna
...This card is now a fair amount cheaper than it used to be, so I decided to splash out and see if it worked for me. I bought it for only slightly more dosh than a normal card, and it was delivered the very next day, courtesy of NickKnows.com
The reason for wanting to get this card was that I was trying to get a reliable connection to a weak signal at work, where the only alternative was a dial up connection. I had been using a Belkin USB adapter, stuck to the office window with brown tape and several USB extension cables between it and my laptop. Even then my connection seemed to depend a huge amount on the weather between me and the access point I was connecting to.
The card was easy to set up. Pop in the CD, install the drivers, then slide in the card when told to. The Buffalo software is quite good in that it lets you install just...
