...The Bull Ring. Every Brummie knows the famous Bull Ring. The market, people shouting their wares, the hot jacket potato sellers (with wheeled ovens that looked to be 100 years old at least) and there was that woman who sold paper carrier bags. Then the developers came and ruined it. Within 15 years of being built the new Bull Ring was starting to look very, very shabby indeed. After some considerable debate it was decided that the Bull Ring must be changed. But how? A refurbishment? No. A replacement, then? Yes! The original plans called for the famous Rotunda building to be knocked down. This was fiercely resisted by the vast majority of Brummies (myself included!) who had grown to grudgingly like and then to openly love this weird, round building. A bull on Coke

Advantages: Taste, Price, Quality

...I had read a little bit about Red Bull Cola but had never seen it. Then whilst looking in Wilkinson's saw it for around 45p this was a definite price I was happy to pay. Having gone through a variety of Cokes a few weeks back it now seemed I was on to drinking energy drinks en masse so this sounded like the perfect combination. Red Bull and Coke right? What an amazing idea, one of those concepts that blows your mind on potential...a bit like the Wii which has yet to deliver what it undoubtedly can. Red Bull to those that have been living under a rock has been developed into a massive enterprise including an F1 team. No bull, this is good!

Advantages: Everything under one roof, accessable to all
Disadvantages: volume of people and some pricey stores!

Since I moved away from Brum it's got harder and harder coming back each year and watching the new shape of Birmingham evolve. The old Bull Ring shopping centre was a great place to shop, but with increasing amount of traffic heading into the city it was time for a change and bring Birmingham back into the 21st century. Birmingham has always had markets and was known as 'the city of a thousand trades', you have to go back as far as 1166 when Brum was awarded it's very own charter giving it the right to have it's own market!situated just under St. Martins Church (which is where I got married) right in the heart of the city centre. Ring of Brodgar

Advantages: Impressive, Neolithic site
Disadvantages: That concrete filling, which to be fair is not noticeable

...The Ring of Brodgar is a Neolithic henge and stone circle thought to have been erected between 2500BC and 200BC on the mainland island of Orkney and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Apparently henges (that is the circular flat area and surrounding bank/ditch) do not usually have stone circles in them and therefore this site along with Stonehenge are anomalies. Unfortunately because of the prominence of Stonehenge and the fact that a flat circular bit of land from Neolithic times doesn't really look like much, the unusualness of the site is rather overlooked as people flock to see yet another stone circle. Of the probable original 60 stones, 27 remain in a huge circle in an otherwise unremarkable field. ...We've all been reading and watching the news about terrible disastors of children being mauled by dogs. This is terrible and nobody could wish these inccidents on anybody. But i wouldnt let that put you off buying the breed you want. Simply follow some simple rules. Find a few breeders and ring them up and find out as much information as possible, if they have pups go and look DONT BUY. I would suggest going looking at a few litters. But while you are there watch them playing and how they interact and how they greet you and their current owners. Also when you have rang a few breeders up i would ask them if they know of any other well respected breeders, most will be in contact with other breeders and get advice from the other breeders/vets about what a healthy pup would look like. Red Bull Mmmmmmm

...I think I'm the reason Red Bull still exists, I buy so much of this stuff, to the extent I worry I'm addicted.. (apparently it is addictive) I don't remember the first time I actually tried it, but I obviously liked it. I used to buy a can in the morning before school, I probably had one in my bag for break and/or lunch too. I don't really feel it makes me energetic, I think it's more of a placebo effect, I just love the taste, I love the fact that it's fizzy, I'm a sucker for fizzy drinks. Appearance The can itself is taller and thinner than other soft drink cans, and is mainly silver with a metallic blue colour scheme. You'd think it would be easy to find in the shop, but I do sometimes spend a lot of time looking. The Bull House, No Bull ****

Advantages: A lovely rustic pub

...~~ The Bull House ~~ It was the last day of our holiday and we always like to end our break with an evening meal, we decided to have a look around for a nice looking public house of restaurant on our travels for that day. We had not gone far from our campsite approx 2 miles in fact when we came across The Bull House on a busy junction on the A52. What first attracted us was how pretty it looked from the outside with its Tudor style black beams across a white background and all the pretty hanging baskets and floral displays. It has two small sit down areas one at the front and a few tables to the side, these are integrated well into the whole ambience of the building. It also had a very large car park so I could never imaging parking to ever become a problem here. When we are on the look out for somewhere to eat my hubby...
