...We stayed here in January/February 2007. This is the secind time we stayed here. The first time was about 4 years ago when we booked as part of a package through Airtours. This time we booked the flights and accomadation independently and saved a lot of money. Our flights were on scheduled aircraft. London Heathrow to Gran Canaria via Madrid with Iberia. The return with Iberia to Madrid and British Airways to Heathrow. There are a choice of 1 bed bungalows(which we booked last time) and 2 bed bungalows, which we had this time. The bungalow was roomy. The lounge had double glazed double doors onto the patio which was huge, it covered two sides of the property. There was a sideboard type unit which had a portable TV (which was coin operated) There were a few channels you could watch including Sky News. The seperate kitchenette...

Lovely bungalows

Advantages: Lovely decor, good position
Disadvantages: No Pool bar or entertainment. Breakage deposit 150 euros

...Went to these bungalows in Puerto del Carmen in May 2006. They were recommended but have now been refurbished and it is possibly the nicest small complex in the resort. The decor is superb, I can understand the deposit of 150 euros, it would be a great pity to spoil these beautiful rooms. The deposit is not necessarily required in cash, a credit card receipt can be made out and then destroyed when you check out as long as all is OK. The position is great, on the sea front near to the Casino, on the sea side of the road. This means that most of the rooms face the sea with a short path down to the rocky shore. The patios have a wind-out awning and are very private, a wonderfully peaceful place to sit with a drink at the end of the day. The rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished, and there is a small open-air laundry area...

Cabin on the beach for £6 a night!

...took this approach simply because of our experiences in Hong Kong- where we booked what seemed to be a nice hostel and turned out to be the worst place I will ever stay! However this approach was changed when we spotted this place on Koh Phangan. The rainbow bungalow was recommended by the lonely planet guide book and we booked this simply on their recommendations. We booked this on hostel world after reading the endorsement and seeing the ratings and comments left by other travellers. So what do you get? We booked a two person chalet. This is located on what seems to be a private beach as the resort in sandwiched between the two biggest settlements on the island. On the shoreline is a couple of hammocks and even a volleyball net. Rumpole's first case

Advantages: Enjoyable, realistic story
Disadvantages: Rather slow beginning

...Introduction This is the first John Mortimer book I have read, and having never seen the TV series starring Leo McKern, I didn't really know what to expect. After a slightly slow start, my mind was quickly made up and I look forward very much to reading more. Although the book describes Rumpole's first major case (for those of you who don't know, Rumpole is a barrister), it is not the first in the series. Apparently throughout the series, the case of the Penge Bungalow murders is mentioned as Horace Rumpole's first major case, but the full facts were never told. In this book, published in 2005, Rumpole decides to write his memoirs, and so looks back to his youth to retell the story. The author John Mortimer, himself a barrister, is most famous for his books in the Rumpole series, although he has written other novels and plays...

Humorous Who-Dun-It

Advantages: Witty legal tale, with likeable main character.
Disadvantages: None for me.

...the other books, there are many references to the Penge Bungalow Murders, telling the reader how well Rumpole managed this first major case of his career, which he undertook as an unusually junior barrister for a murder case. The book tells us how he came to be in this position and how he dealt with it. Any murder trial is, of course, serious, but this one is particularly so for Rumpole, as he thinks that a wrongly accused young man may be convicted and face the death penalty. This mood is well balanced, in my opinion, by the complementary storylines involving the Timpson family, who by comparison might be considered "loveable rogues", and Rumpole's private life. It is written in the form of memoirs, taking us back to the 1940s and 50s, and involves the Royal Air Force. Rumpole investigates to try to distinguish between the heroes...

Great resort - watch out for beasties in bungalows

Advantages: Clean with all the amenities and wonderful selection at breakfast
Disadvantages: bugs in wooden hut bungalows

...bungalow. These rooms were clean and had great character although there were some beasties joining us at night due to the nature of the wooden hut. There is an on site spa which does reasonably priced massages, facials etc and teh staff are so warm and pleasent and will go out of their way to help anyone. In cocnclusion the Club Andmaman beach resort is a great place to stay and i would recommend it to all. xx...

The major pleasure is...

...For me it's very easy... the major pleasure of the world in vacations mainly is to do nothing... and this is what I did my last holidays... I went Lanzarote on summer holidays and here is where I stayed for a week. It is a complex of bungalows, really "mini-small houses" which are in the south of Lanzarote. In Playa Blanca (White Beach) to be exact. Lanzarote is one of the island of Canary Islands which are part of Spain althought thay are near Africa. Most beaches there have black sand so this is an special place for many reasons but the colour of its sand is one of them. The site is enough good. It has two keys (I believe that in these things the best hotels have three) It has a surface of 25000 m2. The entrance it is a small building in which is the reception, a small room with reading, Internet and information...

Great location, basic but good accommodation

...I visited the Santa Fe bungalows a few years ago now(2001), and yes it could have changed dramatically since I visited but here's my 2p! I had booked a last minute "Square Deal type" 2 week stay for myself on my own. This was my first trip away on my own and also my first to Gran Canaria. I was given a map to follow at reception and even though I was a fair way into the complex, I didn't find it hard to read or find my bungalow. First impressions was that although and tidy, was quite basic. The standard over-varnished spanish wood you always see - slightly dated but servicable. A really big fridge (soon filled with water and pop! and a dark bedroom. However there were shutters over the windows in the bedroom which stopped most of the light, but you do have to close them of a night as the windows are virtually on the walkways...
