Eurohike Adventure Cookset with Burner
Review of Eurohike Adventure Cookset with Burner by  PaulineLees

Advantages: Small, Compact, Lightweight, Affordable.
Disadvantages: Get's a bit hot when cooking.

...be to touch. The Adventure Cookset can be purchased with or without the burner. With the burner the set costs £19.99, without it costs £14.99. Both available through millets at these prices. Which I think is a bargain! If you want to use the cookset as a means of cooking, you definitely need to purchase the set with the burner. However if you are looking to purchase extra cookware for your camping holidays and want it cheaply then the set without the burner is a cheap way of doing this. Once all of the pots and pans have been removed from themselves, the set fits together very easily. The base with the air holes in is placed on the floor. This has a large diameter so gives a stable surface on which to cook. The windsheild then slots on to this to protect the burner from the wind. The burner itself sits in the centre of the base. Methylated... Read review

Review of Aromatherapy Oil Burners by  LICARUS

Advantages: easy and efficient, safer than using candles
Disadvantages: none

...There is nothing nicer than walking into a freshly fragranced house/room and there are a vast array of products on the market to keep your home smelling pleasant – sprays or gels for each and every room in some of the most bizarre aroma combinations I have ever seen. I used to use the plug in type room fresheners until I was given an Aroma Stone for my birthday. I have been a long time fan of aromatherapy and firmly believe in its healing properties and that of the oils. Whether you are a believer or not, every home should have one of these stones. The most common way of ‘burning’ scented oil is to use an ‘oil burner’ these come in a variety of weird and wonderful shapes with prices to match. Basically they comprise of a stand for a night light candle, over which sits your dish with the oil and water... Read review

Burning the midnight oil
Review of Aromatherapy Oil Burners by  GraingerN

Advantages: reaches part of the house that other scents can't reach
Disadvantages: needs a close eye when in use

...you can’t find it the answer is to burn some oil. I treated myself to an oil burner before Christmas from my local newsagents (of all places) priced at £1.99 including 2 tea lights and fragrant wax. Both of the tea lights and indeed the wax are now long gone as I use my burner quite often, although replacements are relatively inexpensive and widely available. **Waxes** Wax is available in tablet or pebble like forms in an endless range of fragrances, with prices starting at around 50p. You simply pop the product in the well of the burner (there is no need to add water) light the tea light below and away you go. The wax will take a little time to begin melting but as soon as it does you will ream the benefits of the fragrance. Unfortunately waxes do not have a long life span so once cool and set and with a small push... Read review

What a Burner!!!
Review of Plextor PX-810UF by  AndyK000

Advantages: Amazing speeds, Easy to set up, Reliable
Disadvantages: No firewire included with the burner.

...I've had this external dvd burner for about a week now and i have to say it was money well spent. It can record on pretty much every type of disc out there, at a really high speed: CD-R (48X) CD-RW (32X) CD-ROM (48X) DVD+/-R (18X) DVD+/-RW (8X) DVD+/-DL (10X) DVD-RAM (12X) DVD-ROM (16X) It connects to the computer using either high speed USB or Firewire (although you don't get a firewire with the burner). I've been using it with USB as I haven't got round to buying a firewire yet. It is really easy to install. All you need to do is plug it into your computer switch it on and wait a minute or two for the driver to be installed and it's ready to use straight away. Also included is a software disc containing Nero Express 7 and PlexTools, which can be used to create dvd's or cd's. Although you can use the burner... Read review

We'll beat the credit crunch!
Review of Hunter Herald Slimline 5 Multi Fuel Burner by  SusanLesley

Advantages: Looks lovely, keep us warm, free fuel
Disadvantages: A bit of extra cleaning

...When hubby and I got the keys to our cottage we decided that we wanted to get rid of the gas fire that was in the lounge. The fireplace is a small inglenook and when you add to that the fact that I LOVE the smell of wood smoke it had to be a multi fuel burner. We decided to go for a multi fuel burner as opposed to a straightforward wood burner so that we would have the choice to burn solid fuel should we need it. We did a lot of information gathering, changing our minds a few times, getting frustrated and cross but we wanted to make sure that we got the best stove for our needs. I won't go into the detail of the search here or you'll all loose the will to live but there were one or two things we had to bear in mind. We had to stick to a stove giving out a maximum of 5Kw in heat output otherwise we would need some kind... Read review

LG GCE 8160B CD burner
Review of LG GCE 8160B by  ilaskey

Advantages: value for money, works well, good for backups
Disadvantages: Not the fastest on the block

...There are some very fast CD burners on the market although they're mainly being overtaken by DVD burners which aren't much more expensive these days. The LG GCE-8160B is a couple of years old now and used to sell at PC World for £69 but can be picked up cheaply on eBay these days. The box contains the bare drive which sports 16x CD-R writing, 10x CD-RW writing and 40x reading as well as all the usual IDE cables, screws and sound card leads. The supplied software is Roxio CD Creator version 5 which is the latest version although not the full 'Platinum' style. You can still burn almost any type of CD although some of the more esoteric features such as vinyl restoration, and Video-CD creation are missing. You can of course use 3rd party software or upgrade to the full version of CD Creator 5 Platinum. A bonus is a good pair of manuals... Read review

New golfer looking to improve?these are for you
Review of TaylorMade Burner XD Irons by  coppinpr

Advantages: Easy to hit, easy to keep straight
Disadvantages: Not long hitters

...I first started playing golf when I was 10 years old but was forced to take a 20+ break due a back problem only returning to regular play two years ago. I decided to pretty much start from scratch and took my time choosing a set of irons best suited to my 'back to basics' plan. I picked Taylor Made burners because they have the largest legal club face and a very forgiving play action. I also picked steel shafts as once again they are easier to hit. 'Taylor Made' clubs are always well made and these are forged (not cast) with a hollow cut back giving a reasonable deep cut into the ball. The original Burners were a little light but the XD's have more wieght and a better feel in the swing. I think these clubs are perfect for serious new golfer looking to improve his game from a handicap above 20 down to about 16 over a period... Read review

Black Hob / looks good+Gas Burner / cooks good
Review of Electrolux EGG689 by  tue-s-day

Advantages: looks good and works well
Disadvantages: costs a bit more than some but is worth it

...no nooks or cranies to wipe around. However you do need to be a bit more careful when cleaning ceramic/glass hobs especially black ones to keep the surface looking good and unscratched. I always keep a seperate cloth for wiping the hob and rinse it through frequently to rid it of any gritty particles that may scratch the surface of the hob. This hob has four burners. At the front is a large one described in the instruction booklet as a rapid burner and a small one described as an auxiliary burner and at the back two medium burners called semi-rapid. I find that for the type of cooking I do this is ideal, I use the large burner for cooking pasta and casseroles which works well because I use Italian style saucepans/ cooking pots for this. The small hob I use for smaller saucepans to cook sauces, custards, gravy and warming milk etc... Read review

CD Burner Paradise for 84 Pounds
Review of Samsung CD-RW SW-408 by  john.sw

Advantages: Cheap, fast, reliable, good software
Disadvantages: No fancy box to throw away

...Fancy a CD-RW drive? Don’t waste your money on a £140 model; there is one for £84 that will do everything you need. My first CD-RW burner cost over £200 and had the amazing record speed of 2x. The old Memorex still works well, but I wanted a new burner for a different desktop PC and did not want to spend a lot. The Samsung SW-408 from redstore.com doesn’t come in a fancy box (who likes paying extra for the box anyway?) but is supplied with a good instruction book, a spare drive to audio cable and a CD with all the software you need to be up and running in minutes. It records a 8x in both CDR and CD-RW mode and reads at 32x. For £84 you get a reliable burner with OPC for consistent recording on a disc with dust or fingerprints. It also supports variable packet CD-R, variable and fixed packet which means that you... Read review

My first dvd burner
Review of Pioneer DVR 104 by  talonsco

Advantages: Good drive, very cheap now
Disadvantages: Quite slow

...This was the first ever dvd burner I purchased. The attraction was that it was quite cheap at the time (around £80) and was a brand I knew of. The saleman recommended it and that was it. I went and bought it online for half the price than in the shop. That aside, the drive I got was OEM without and software. Being a novice it took a while to find out that Nero was the best software around and once I had this, I was fine. Installing the burner was easy enough, again its a standard size. The only thing was that in the documentation it said "do not place above any other drive as it gets hot during burning and may damage it". I didnt have a choice and it was happily above my second drive (a toshiba dvd-rom) for over 2 years with no problems at all. First...a word of warning however. I bought this drive before there was anything... Read review
