Travelodge (not quite next to) Dublin Airport Ballymun

Advantages: cheap, clean, comfortable, what you would expect
Disadvantages: not that close to the airport, receptionist ignored us

...I expected and it did the job. I?m glad we only stayed there one night as it is the kind of hotel you stay while just passing through, not really a hotel to have a holiday in. Checking out was really easy, all we had to do was hand our key card in at the reception desk before 12pm. The hotel has a bus stop right outside which has buses that run straight to the centre of Dublin, which is really handy. All in all this was a decent hotel to stay at and was clean and comfortable and a good price, I just wish that it had been a little closer to the airport!...

Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport Quality

Advantages: New build, price, high quality, service, location
Disadvantages: Some airport noise

...OVERVIEW I had not heard of the Carlton hotel chain prior to my visit to Ireland in late 2006, but it turned out to be a brand new 4 star modern hotel and the cheapest of this hotel class in Dublin at the time of my booking. I had already had a bad experience with a previous hotel in Ireland and was anxious that I didn?t want this episode repeated, so I took the plunge and booked with the Carlton. I was not disappointed and will be returning later this year. The hotel is ideal for short breaks, business meetings, people with an interest in aviation and families. LOCATION The hotel is located about 5 minutes drive from the main airport terminal. The hotel is new, it only opened about a year ago, it?s smart, modern and extremely competitively priced for hotels in this class, especially when using one of the many online...

Review of Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport

Advantages: Good Transport Links, Main Airport into Ireland, Easy to find your way around
Disadvantages: Lack of Shops,

...timetables along the side and the buses are fairly regular, the taxi rank is located within walking distance from the exit and also adjacent to the exit is the Air Coach this is how I got from the Airport to my hotel in the City Centre, they are easy to spot as they are right next to the pedestrian crossing as you come out of the arrivals hall. Air Coach is a luxury coach service that transports passengers from the Airport to the city centre dropping off at popular hotels in Dublin. I purchased a return ticket from the driver which was 12 euros // £8 for a return journey. Up to 2 children under the age of 12 are carried free if travelling with a paying adult. For more information or to book tickets online visit www.aircoach.ie. After a pleasurable stay in Dublin and a lot of Guiness later it was time to return to the Airport, we waited...

Bewleys Hotel Dublin

Advantages: Near To Airport, Price
Disadvantages: None?

...I stayed at the Bewleys Hotel once before flying out from Dublin Airport, its a great location if you chose to fly from Dublin and live quite far away from it. The double room we stayed in cost around 69 euros for one night, this is reasonable when you look at it from the point of view that travelling to the airport will be much easier the day after and also that your holiday begins a day earlier by staying there. The room was clean and tidy and quite modernly decorated, there were two large (well big enough) double beds in the twin room and a small sitting area, the bathroom was clean and had a shower and a bath in it and had a few little treats like shower gel and a small sewing kit in it which I always like when I am staying in a hotel. There was a decent sized tv in the room that had a good range of channels that catered...

Review of Bewley's Airport Hotel, Dublin

Where's the airport? Oh - 5 miles away...!

Advantages: Well run hotel
Disadvantages: Not near City Centre and 5 miles from the airport.

...was best to sort things out before I travelled the next day, a quick phone call to a very efficient helpline soon confirmed this was just a glitch in their system. Arrival/getting to hotel: Uh oh! Have you ever had that "Déjà vu All Over Again" feeling? If you've read my recent review of the "Croydon" Hilton, you will know I am just a bit picky about accurate hotel location descriptions... Anyway, I got off my flight and was wandering slightly aimlessly around the arrivals area of Dublin Airport looking for anything directing me to the Hilton Dublin Airport. Eventually I asked at the Information desk and was told to go to the Hotel/Accommodation Infopoint (a big yellow backlit noticeboard, unmissable...) where I could call up a courtesy bus to get me to the Hilton. At this point I started to wonder... A quick look...

21 hour bus journey from HELL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Crap customer service, moody drivers

...Australia is a very vast country to travel around and there are various options available to backpackers; For those on a short trip with money to burn then internal flights are a good option, if you are travelling in a group then a car or campervan is a great option or if you are alone and have a long trip the hop on hop off buses a great way to get around. I opted for the last option and decided to travel by bus! I had two options Greyhound or Premier Bus. I was originally going to buy a Greyhound pass as I had heard a lot about them and new them to be good but when I got into the travel agents they told be all about Premier Bus. I was informed that the service is just as good as Greyhound just with slightly fewer buses per day and that the price was cheaper, well it sounded like a good deal so I went for it! Sadly...

See Dublin In A Day For Under A Tenner

Advantages: Great way to see the city if you're short of time
Disadvantages: Not a lot

...~ ~ Many people who visit the “Fair City” of Dublin these days do so on short or weekend breaks. In fact, only last year Dublin gained the premier spot as the most popular weekend holiday destination in Europe, overtaking both Paris and Amsterdam for the first time. If you are one of these “short break” visitors, it is very easy to allow yourself to become overwhelmed by the vast array of attractions that vie for your attention, and with your time limited, it is almost impossible to fit in everything you would like to see or visit. ~ ~ Dublin Bus, the semi-State company that run the public transport system here in Dublin, have been the subject of much critical debate over the general effectiveness of their city service over the last few years, but one initiative that they have introduced is truly superb. This...

SAVE THE SHOE LEATHER...GET A BUS

Advantages: Get to see most of Dublin, friendly guides
Disadvantages: None really

...You've gotten to Dublin, found your way out of the airport with more twists and turns than the Crystal Maze, dumped your bags in the hotel and now you're ready to go! Although Dublin is a fairly small city some of the sights are a little hard to find and quite far apart, What to do? To save on the old shoe leather there's only one way to see the sights in Dublin and that's on one of the tour buses which can be seen all over the place. We went with the City Tour buses and the price for an all day ticket was only 10 euros (when am I going to get that symbol on my keyboard?). This allows you to travel non-stop around the whole city and get on and off at any of the stops. This particular tour has 16 stops. These are: 1) McDonalds (the start of the tour) 9) Dublin Castle and City Hall 2) Writers Museum 10) St Patricks...

A taste of the Orient - In Dublin?

Advantages: Comfortable, Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: None I could find

...Over the Easter holiday I had to work in Dublin, so I needed somewhere to stay. I wanted to be close to the airport, as I had a flight to catch quite early in the morning after I finished work. The hotel I chose was the Crowne Plaza at Dublin Airport. The main reason was that it is part of the Six Continents hotel group, and I have a ?Priority Club card? so I get points for staying, which I can use for free nights in any of the groups hotels. ** Getting there ** From the airport, I found a Hotel information board, from here I could ring the hotel and request a pick up. The receptionist explained where the courtesy bus picks up from, and asked me to go there and wait. About 15 minutes later the hotel courtesy bus arrived. The driver was really friendly, and greeted me like a long lost friend. When we arrived at the hotel...

Review of Crowne Plaza Airport, Dublin

Exactly how an airport hotel ought to be

Advantages: So close that you can almost feel the breeze as the planes come in to land
Disadvantages: It's more expensive than the more distant airport hotels

... When is an airport hotel not really an airport hotel? I have spent a stupid amount of time in airport hotels in the past year and have learned that the term 'airport hotel' can be very misleading. Some, like the Sheraton Dusseldorf Airport really are right at the airport whilst many can be a 10-15 minute cab ride away. As for shuttle busses that take you almost an hour to get from the hotel to the airport, there are far too many of those knocking about. My advice - for what it's worth - is to make sure you know exactly what you are getting when you book an airport hotel. A good price can be spoiled by discovering that the shuttle bus only goes once an hour and a taxi can cost you half the room rate just to get there. The Sheraton at Dusseldorf airport is exactly the best kind of airport hotel Why were we there? Back...
