taking the tour

Advantages: accessories, ease of use, price
Disadvantages: for some the size might be a put-off

...has a clock and temperature reader. At any point in my journey I can just look down and check the time or when standing outside the school I can know just who cold it is! The wheels turn easily and smoothly. It used to be that some 4-wheel buggies were hard to navigate but this one has no trouble turning a corner. Just to give you an idea I was in town today with my usual Starbucks in one hand and piloting the buggy with the other. I purchased my Graco travel system from Babies R Us for £260 and there was a promotion to get the £100 accessories pack free. There are various Quattro Tour systems and at very different prices. I think the cheapest of which is around £150. The accessories pack made it so I had the buggy itself, the car seat, one car base, changing bag, foot cosy, carrycot attachment, and rain cover. ...You've gotten to Dublin, found your way out of the airport with more twists and turns than the Crystal Maze, dumped your bags in the hotel and now you're ready to go! Although Dublin is a fairly small city some of the sights are a little hard to find and quite far apart, What to do? To save on the old shoe leather there's only one way to see the sights in Dublin and that's on one of the tour buses which can be seen all over the place. We went with the City Tour buses and the price for an all day ticket was only 10 euros (when am I going to get that symbol on my keyboard?). This allows you to travel non-stop around the whole city and get on and off at any of the stops. This particular tour has 16 stops. Don't get duped, take a quality tour

Advantages: Quality tour with a live guide
Disadvantages: The heavily historic nature of the tour may not suit everyones tastes

...Guide Friday operate tours all over the country although this article is essentially based on their tour of Cambridge. The real selling point of their tour is the live guide and whilst this may make them slightly more then their competitors, (some of whom are so desperate for passengers they will undercut further!) helps greatly in a number of ways. A live guide will have no problem synchronising a tour to the surroundings however fast or slow the bus moves around the city. They will also be able to adapt a tour in order to take account of diversions or recent changes. Both or these things are where tape commentary is really lacking and whilst the latter may not normally be encountered you will certainly find that the former presents a problem for taped bus commentaries every day. Textbook problems aside though its the pure quality...

The Runaway Bus

...Well, what a shame, is all I can say! Okay I can say more... The original of this film I saw years ago on TV, and it was pretty good, led by Frankie Howerd in one of (if not THE) earliest performances of his career (the film was released originally in 1954). I was keen to see the film based on his being in it, and becaus eit also has Margaret Rutherford, one of my favourite actresses in also. The plot is essentially that frankie Howerd's charcter is a bus driver, and due to foggy condition, he must take a bus of air passengers via road from one airport to the next. the consequences are quite hilarious, although a few of the best scenes were unfortuately cut from the DVD version. Another note regarding the difference between the original and the DVD version is the quality of the film, which to be honest is not grat on the DVD. I...

We decided against hiring a car on this occasion. Taxi's were amongst our reps transport 'OK's' but with the proviso that the price must be determined with the driver before the journey commenced. Taxis in Barbados frankly were not cheap despite government determined fare schedules. Taxis did not have meters fitted, and it was normal for drivers to charge premiums over and above the fare schedule rates. Bridgetown by taxi worked out to at least £10(B$40) each way. After unpacking we sat down to a cuppa and had a look at the leaflet and the sightseeing bus looked like a great idea. Around us, we could see hundreds of men, in blue and red waistcoats, all holding laminated pieces of paper. My nan being the sceptical person she is, said no, we?re not buying anything from someone on the street, we don?t know what it is or if it?s any good.
