Bush 2009 sending budget DVD into a new era
Review of Bush DVD 2002 by
cascade
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: You cant complain at this price!
...Budget Bush does it again! Bush has a good record when it comes to their budget DVD players, and this model is no exception. The Bush 2009 is a good all round player. The players has good sound performance and brilliant pictures quality which could be expected to only feature on more expensive models. The machine is easy to use and has a well-designed, user-friendly remote control. The player has a good range of sockets which include optical output, s-video outputs and the regular scart socket. All this for the small price of £170, what a bargain!...

Cheap and Cheerful
Review of Bush DVD 2000 by
jr44
Advantages: cheap, user friendly
Disadvantages: silver colour may put some off
...The Bush DVD player was a gift of mine to my father, who was delighted at the prospect of owning one. I must admitt that I was also rather impressed as we took it out of the packaging. A real beauty! The smooth lines and futuristic design gives the impression of a very expensive piece of kit, but the £140 I paid was far from expensive. The RRP is usually £180, but with a bit of pursuasion towards the nice people at Richer Sounds, the price was soon agreed.
As for general operation, we have no complaints. Simply plug the Bush in, connect the scart lead and throw in a disk. The remote control is also easy to understand so almost no manual reference required.
The DVD player is multi region (although I think this is a little overhyped as all the DVD's we own or are likely to own are on the one region), has all the usual gadgetry (freeze...

Pleasantly Surprised by a Bush
Review of Bush DVD154TV by
luckyarchers
Advantages: Good picture & sound, easy to use controls.
Disadvantages: Takes a few seconds to "warm-up".
...I am a bit of a technophobe, but thought I would write about our TV DVD combi, in the only way I now how, simply. Hopefully it will help other non-technical people out there.
Our portable TV was having intermittent faults, and my family were complaining that it was so ancient that it didn’t even have a socket to plug in a free-view box. They also wanted a DVD player included in any new model that was bought.
Having a portable TV in good working order does reduce the amount of squabbles about what programmes to watch, so I decided to have a look around for the best value for money one for us.
I was strongly influenced by a TV DVD combi we had use of when we went on holiday, and after trying to find better value for money alternatives, I was drawn back to this model.
I have had one previous experience of owning a Bush TV...

Bush DVD2051 with Divx - Bargain!
Review of Bush DVD 2051 by
cambria83
Advantages: Divx Playback, Plays DVD-r discs, very cheap, attractive
Disadvantages: None
...After my previous DVD player packed in I set out for a cheap replacement with my requirements being that it played divx files and dvd-r discs! (oh and that it looked nice too).
After trawling the internet for a couple of hours the BUSH DVD2051 caught my eye at a bargain price in Argos of just £29.99!! I quickly snapped it up and I couldn't be more pleased!!
It plays all DVD's flawlessly to a high standard including DVD's with just DIVX or XVID files on them, meaning I can fit up to 6 DVD's onto one disc after converting them.
The supplied remote control is also a bonus because you sometimes get cheap ones thrown in with the cheaper players but this one is up to scratch and of a high quality.
The added bonus of this DVD player is that it looks very attractive too.
So if you're after a cheap DVD player then I'd definitely recommend...

Brilliant portable DVD player
Review of Shinco 1731A Portable DVD Player by
rollerskaterabbit
Advantages: Looks great, plays great, lots of accessories, multiregion
Disadvantages: no free headphones
...I frequently travel on the train for 3 hour journeys each way so I wanted a portable DVD player to stop me being bored rigid. I happily chose the Shinco 1731A portable DVD player for the following reasons
1) The seven inch model was small, easily portable but the colour ActiveMatrix TFT screen didn't seem too small when watching films on the train. THe screen also has a 400:1 contrast ratio giving really clear pictures.
2) I wanted a multiregion portable DVD player so I could use all formats (1-6). This DVD player also plays other formats, including DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3, JPEG and Kodak Picture CD. The Shinco also has multi language/angle/subtitle capability, zoom play and programmable play and comes with a tiny remote control.
3) I wanted a portable DVD player that I could use with my TV set at home or in the car...

Portable DVD player AHOY
Review of Mustek MP 70 D by
matty168
Advantages: Cheap, Easy to use
Disadvantages: None really
...I first came across Portable DVD players on a trip to Thailand and i was very tempted to get one however the cost didn't seem worth it. However i've been glads to see that the price of them in the UK have fallen dramatically so therefore i chose to snap one up.
I chose the Mustek MP 70 D as it seemed like a good buy at just under £150 and it was a brand i was familiar with as they make scanners.
The great thing about portable DVD players is that it can keep you occupied on a long trip. Since it has an integrated screen,it is no surprise they are becoming very popular-especially when you consider that DVD films are so cheap to buy nowadays with prices starting from around £1!!.

Personal Use
-----------
I generally use my portable DVD player when i go on train trips as i travel quite a lot. I usually charge it up...

Bush 28inch Widescreen
Review of Bush 6693D by
Montandon
Advantages: User Friendly - Built in Freeview tuner
Disadvantages: Takes time to put into standby mode
...This is a very userfriendly, good quality TV.
With built in S-video port it also enables the user to easily link this television upto their TV out card on a PC. The TV also comes with a side phono socket, for ease of connection using portable devices or games consoles, allowing easy switching between devices, and the Freeview can be transmitted out through a scart cable to a video or DVD recorder enabling this to be recorded.
The one disadvantage of this TV is the time taken to go into standby mode. When turning into standby it automatically searches for updates from Bush. This usually takes around 2-3 minues, although if a connection cannot be reached, the Television stays with a blank screen and no sound, but produces an electrical buzzing noise while it waits for connection. This sometimes can go on for 24 hours and is very annoying....

A easy introduction to the world of DVD's
Review of Samsung DVD-709 by
nem
Advantages: Reasonably priced and easy to install
Disadvantages: Only plays European ( Region 2 ) discs
...I was looking for my first DVD player and the Samsung 709 was a perfect solution. The machine is easy to install and comes with all the connection leads necessary. Within 10 minutes the machine can be up and running.
The sound and picture quality are excellent (even when attached to a portable tv).The machine however is outstanding when you connect it up to a widescreen television as most of the films you will find come in the widescreen format.
The only disadvantage is that it can only play European discs.
If you are looking for a DVD player then you can't go far wrong with the Samsung 709....

Bush 2002 DVD player £179
Review of Bush DVD 2002 by
Benatwork
Advantages: Good value, good looking, easy multi-region hack
Disadvantages: Perhaps not so many features as a high price model
...I paid £179 for my Bush DVD 2002 and I've had it for about three months. I found the instructions incredibly confusing thanks to different set-ups for surround sound TV and stereo. But if you have a scart socket on your TV (you probably do) then you don't need the instructions. The player itself is suprisingly big but as with all new technology they'll most likley be half as big by the end of the year. Still, the remote control is extreemley easy to use and has all the buttons you'll ever need without being confusing. I'd say for a budget model this is one of the best deals around, and if you're interested (as I was) in playing american discs as well, the hack is really simple and is done via the remote control....

Good old-fashioned CD player!
Review of Bush CDW123 by
adambell
Advantages: Simple.
Disadvantages: Old
...I used to have one of these, a good old-fashioned CD player! never failed on me, not once. I must admit that i never tried running with it, but walking to and from school with one in my rucksack was never a problem. It's nothing fancy, it doesn't have a built in radio - but who ever uses them anyway? It doesn't have mp3 playback on it, but no-one had ever heard of mp3 when i had mine! The only reason i stopped using mine was because i invested in an mp3 player, and although portable mp3 players are of course a better way of carrying around large amounts of music, i missed my trusty old CD player! I have to get it out every now and then just to make sure its still working! The sound quality through the earphones it came with was appalling, but i never realized until i got some expensive ones!...
