...ink jet printers seem to be the common solution to every home personal computers hard copy situation but buying a cheap printer can work out costlier in the long run. The problem is the cartrages. Even a cheap inkjet printer can be brought for about £40 squid and have quite a decent quality of print but cartrages range from £15 squid to up to £40 and if the whole family are using it on regualar basis they mightent last very long. There are also special paper to buy like glossy for photo's and options to put the printer into a different mode to specialize for photos so these can take up more ink then in draft mode, so its important to look at the whole perspective on what the printer is to be used for and cartridge price before getting one in....

Top of the range inkjet - amazing printer

Advantages: Quick, amazing text quality, nice photo quality, computer doesn't have to be on to opporate, auto-alignment, the list goes on
Disadvantages: Bitch to install, no tools in windows toolbox, more suited to business environment

...The HP 2250 Business Inkjet is the latest innovation from HP. For those who don't already know, Hewlett Packard is the Coca-Cola of the printing world. If you've already read my reviews on the HP Laserjet 5L and the HP2000C, not only will you know my life story but you'll realise I wouldn't trust anyone else to provide my printing. Anyway, my old HP2000C broke down, was temporarily replaced by the devil himself (Laserjet 5L) and now I have finally been blessed with this miricle. The HP 2200 range is aimed at business users, but power freaks like myself will not be disappointed. The machine costs nearly £470, but it is the bees knees, and unless you can afford £3000 for a colour laser printer, or £800 for the HP2500, this is what you want. The price is steep, and I don't recommend it for those that need 'NICE' and 'SPEEDY' printing...

SAVE MONEY on inkjet cartidges

Advantages: Saves a lot of money
Disadvantages: Takes a bit of time, can be messy!

...I feel that there is a conspiracy going on. No, I don;t mean the one about area 47, Roswell and those little green men, or the true whereabouts of Lord Lucan, or whether Elvis really was seen in Sainsbury?s in Bournemouth high street last weekend, this is a bigger conspiracy altogether. I?m sick and tired of paying extortionate costs for something as simple as a cartridge for my printer! I don?t know who came up with the idea of refill cartridges, but they are laughing all the way to the bank, and so are the manufacturers, who are really raking in the cash. Printer cartridges are designed to be thrown away when the ink runs out, and you are supposed to buy a whole replacement cartridge, made by the same company that manufactured your printer (a nice little earner eh!) for up to £30 each time. Wow, that?s a lot of cash these...

HP D1470 Inkjet Printer.

Advantages: Very cheap, durable, and excellent for the amateur computer user.
Disadvantages: Tray a little too small, and a few issues with packing the tray with paper.

Good quality A3 Inkjet Printer

Advantages: Fast A4 & A3 printing, good quality from HP

The price was around £280 + VAT and delivery. We had always purchased HP products before, as they have proved themselves to be value for money as far as long service and reliability is concerned. This printer is available in three configurations; The CP1700 is a standard A3 inkjet photo quality printer; the CP1700d is the same model, but comes with a 'duplex unit' which enables you to print documents double sided; the CP1700ps is a 'postscript edition' that comes with 'Adobe Postscript' software and configuration. We purchased the CP1700d option, as when printing our brochures we like to print two sided, and it works very well. The paper tray holds a resonable amount of paper...

A problematic printer

...I’ve just read another opinion on this printer by someone and he seems to have had the same types of problems that I’ve had, except his seemed a bit worse! Before I go on, I’ll tell you a little bit about the printer for those who want to know! Now this printer is meant to be robust and work to your needs. It is actually supposed to be a business printer and not a home printer, so it’s made to work, not to sit around for weeks waiting for one of the kid’s to finally do their homework. They do work it at work aswell, it’s shared via 2 PC’s (more about that later) and they are both secretaries PC’s so it has to print a fair few letters each day! It can print an impressive 15 pages per minute in black and 14 in colour, and yes, it really doe’s do that and for an inkjet...

Dell photo printer 720

...I bought this Dell printer several months ago when my old printer broke down. I have never really needed to print much (only the occasional essay or B-day card), so I decided to go for this cheap Dell 720 photo printer. I looked for the cheapest printer I could find and I believe this one cost between £30-35 on the Dell website. I have just checked on the website and I don?t think they even sell this version anymore. A newer version the ?Dell 725? has replaced the 720 and is now the cheapest model that Dell sells in the UK (at £35). It has done me well for school projects and just printing stuff. ...It is all very well getting a good printer for around £75, but you could have spent more than that on Epson (or other make) cartridges by the time you have colour printed 4 reams of paper (4 replacements). First tip: print in black, even for colour stuff, when you are just doing drafts. Second tip: if you must buy cartridges, get the compatibles - they contain the same amounts of ink but are less than half price. Third tip: be brave, refill them! Go to http://www.inky-fingers.co.uk/ and they will send you a free guide book. If you want to experiment, order the £3.99 syringe of black ink - it comes with instructions, needle, ink, everything. It is less than one tenth of the cost of Epson Cartridges....
